thia guy is a complete moron... you know if a whit guy said that shit non one would care how fair his record is, or how SMART OR ACCOMPLISHED HE WAS, HE'D BE DONE AND OVERWITH... This guy is a complete lemming
Sotomayors has more experience than anyone on the bench. In a 5 to 4 decision I think it is hard to say that it was a unanimous Supreme Court decision.
uoyuoy444 Yeah;unfortunately, there are still people more obsessed with race than with competency on the court;"My house is burning down--and I don't like the racial composition of the firefighters sent to put it out.-"
Thank you Supreme Court for calling the right decision and exposing Sotomayor for what she is! The Supreme Court today reminded all courts and governments that equal justice under the law means refusing to tip the scale in favor of one race over another,The Senate Judiciary Committee should carefully examine Judge Sotomayors role in the Second Circuits opinion on this case. Discrimination and racial preferences have no place in our courts, let alone on the highest court in the land.
On the surface she sounds like a racist. but we'll see what happens later on. and i'm latin/dark/thinking limbaugh listener not pasty white. get a clue, diversity is everywhere pimp.
If people actually knew what she said it wouldn't seem racist. She was basically saying, as someone who faced both sex descrimination and race discrimination, she is able to empathize with others who faced similar situations easier than a white male who has not faced such situations. She went on to say, however, that it is not impossible for the white male to empathize with those discriminated against. Brown V. Board of Education is the obvious example. She was stating a fact of life.
Taking a person words out of context is the trap that to many people fall into. It is part of the standard smear tactics. Thank you for putting Sotomayor's words back into context.
Every Federal Judge (that includes Supreme Court Justices) is an activist judge, unless they NEVER over turn a lower court decision. Scalia, captain of the "Original Intent" movement is an activist judge. He would like to over turn many of the so-called liberal policies, programs & laws that have been established over the years, but he has been unable to get the votes. Would you be so anti-activist judge if you were getting the decisions. No, I think not. Nuff said.
Damn Straight brother its bout time for white man rights, the white man has been discriminated against for too long just like the inflammatory lyrics in the theme from "F-Troop" its a disgrace,a disgrace i say!!!!

Yeah!!!! Whenever Whites Complain About "Prejudice" In American, All That Is Are Whites Being Greedy. America Has And Always Be A White Country, It's Ridiculous For Whites Cry When A Minority Gets A Tiny Piece Of The Pie We Call The United States Of American.
no, if whites worked hard for what they earn they don't have to share with minorities who come to this country and expect shit to be given to them or they file a discrmination case...You shouldn't GET a piece of the pie, you should fucking work hard to earn it. I am a minority and I don't cry for handouts...
I almost skipped over this vid when I saw Anne the Famewhore Coulter as the pic -- I have made it a policy not to watch any more videos of her so I'm not contributing any attention to a woman who is blatantly whoring herself out for attention with no conscience for the evil she spews into the world.
Please don't use her as the main pic again! But another good commentary. Keep up the great work!
Of the 9 Supreme Court Justices, only 3 have had more than 10 votes against them and all of them are Republican nominees (Roberts - 22, Alito - 42, and Thomas -48), not to mention Bork, who was voted down. Now which party unfairly scrutinizes the nominees. It seems to me that the Democrats were first in overstepping the advise and consent role and now the Republicans are striking back. Its not right, but it is understandable.
What a short memory Mr. Smart Remarks has, as the Democrats have participated in the same sort of identity politics that Republicans currently are doing, and even to a greater degree. In fact, the Democratic nominees have been confirmed much quicker and easier than Republicans have. Obama himself voted against both Alito and Roberts when charges of racism were thrown out. It appears to me that Republicans have started to follow the Dems lead wit h this "identity politics" and I don't like it.
In addition to responding to the points you made (in my two posts below) I like how you showed a picture of that dumb white man who misspelled the word "moron" when you were talking about "White People". This is WHILE you were defending Sotomayor as someone who is not anti-white. The irony. This puts you on equal grounds with the man in the picture if you think about it.
Okay, it seems as if you don't get a lot of what is going on, let me explain.
The quote from Sotomayor was 100% correct in context as she stated her upbringing in the "latino community" would make her much more valuable in contextual situations than a white male who has not lived that life. Anything wrong with that? No, it is factual.
For the New Haven Fire Department story, go to Politifact. They have the full story as to why you are wrong.
How does being a Latina make you apply the constitution of the United States as a Supreme Court judge any better than anyone else? Or makes her more qualified to apply the laws in the book better than anyone else? Apparently it doesn't because her rulings as a court of appeal judge has been reversed by the the Supreme court 60% of the time (another little detail dems don't mention).
Simple, she has had the experience of certain situations that would make her a much better candidate for dealing with it than a white male who hasn't had the same upbringing or experience.
Try a little bit of common sense. It might improve your odds of being recognized as an intelligent individual.
And how does repeating party line non-sense like a parrot makes you recognized as an intelligent individual?
Applying the Constitution should not be done differently by people of different races. It's a fixed document, it's what our founding fathers want this country to be like.
Applying the constitution differently due to race makes he an activist judge, which she has admitted to being.
Not my fault you are a delusional fool who cannot face that they are a party hack. I bet you don't even realize how moderate she is, have you even gone to do any research before yelling "RACE WARS".
Plus don't use the term activist judge, there's no such thing. They interpret the constitution, that's the reason the supreme court exists (Which is also why you shouldn't say the constitution is a fixed document, it never is).
I don't know if she's a racist or not (though her comment about her being Latina qualifiers her to be better judge does have racist tone to it no matter how you spin it) but how about her position on racial issues?
She has consistently showed blatant racial favoritism in her decision as a judge, more recently in the New Haven Fire Department where white firefighters were denied promotions because they were white. She thought that was OK. Funny how you left that out in your anti-republican rant.
I'm pasty white and generally maintain a republican trend, but I don't think it's racist. Then again I don't have anything that I identify at risk by her receiving the position so there's no need for me to take words out of context so I can spin them.
She will do fine.
I am offended by your racist comments towards my skin tone and voting trends though. ; )
Wait... THEY characterized her as an activist judge? How about her own admission that she thinks the courts is where policies are made? Oh, wait, she just doesn't think so.. wink wink.
It wouldn't matter which woman Obama picked for the Supreme Court. GOP dumb-shits can only handle women as dumb as Scarah Failin as their LACK of masculinity doesn't feel threatened then. But, if you find a woman who's intelligent as Sotomayor or Hillary, they feel threatened, become full of hate & show their well-known hypocrisy.
The dumb-shit GOPs have to face the FACT Sotomayor WILL be nominated, because if she isn't, the GOP will lose the ENTIRE Hispanic & women vote in 2010 & 2012. LOL!
Shockingly enough the GOP might give up on filibustering her. For a logical reason, as many of the GOP seem to have actually given up on bitching about her nomination. Not only because she was nominated by Bush Sr back in the 1990's, but also because she's the best they're gonna get. The one whining about her, are projecting their racism, Ted Tancredo especially, in which we heard him call her a racist then promptly called her "A brown woman". The ones left will be destroyed by their own greed.
The GOP will successfully filibuster and block Sotomayer's nomination and ensure that the Supreme Court remains CONSERVATIVE! When Sarah Palin becomes POTUS in 2012, she will DRIVE ALL OLD MEN OUT of the Supreme Court and have the Supreme Court comprised entirely of CONSERVATIVE WHITE WOMEN!
I wonder how racist you would have seen it if a white guy said a white man can make a better judgement than a latino woman? you people are idiots

The GOP engages in "Selective Memory" on a regular basis.
What about GW Bush appointing Alberto Gonzalez to Attourney General?
Not only was Bush attempting to pander to hispanic voters...he also appointed a person who was his personal "lapdog" to the position.
Remember the "Separation of Powers" described in the constitution ???
That did not exist with Alberto Gonzales...he was a sock puppet for Bush...and then he resigned when things got "too hot in the kitchen"
OperationTailGunner 2 years ago
Democrats and Republicans are both very good at double think...
What Bush did during his presidency people on the left hated.
But now that Obama is doing the same exact thing they argue for it.
Hypocrisy and denial, those are the only two things that keep the left and right mind controlled into thinking there are free and have a choice.
Enjoy being a slave to your ideology.

Sorry to dissappoint you, but I am a registered "Independent" voter. I vote for the candidate that passes my gut check.
The GOP has mastered the Politics of FEAR into an artform.
The Dems have mastered the art of Whining but often hesitate to pull the trigger when they have the opportunity.(GM bailout etc..)
I like to think of "Democracy" as an on going living argument that never stops.
When the argument stops, you usually end up with totalitarian government....(N. Korea etc..)
