Let's look at history. I remember VP Dick Cheney saying "Deficits don't matter". I also remember Pres. Bush advocating the biggest expansion of affordable housing opportunities under a Republican Congress before '06. But this isn't about Dem or Rep... they're both screwed up.

If you eliminate medicare and medicaid (both socialized medicine by definition)... that wouldn't solve the doctor to patient ratio in this country.

Fear is overcome with knowledge. These days, the media (both liberal and conservative) does not provide that.

I should probably explain my point. The reason why you have long lines over in Europe and Canada, is because there are RN and MD shortages. Because seeing how the single payer system does not pay well for RNs, and MDs, most of them have come to the US because it has better pay. My point was get rid of the shortage of both, then there will not be long lines while you wait for a doctor. Its supple and demand.

If we do not have enough MDs, and RNS, the demand for them goes up, which means more costs for insurance companies etc. But let me ask you this, do you know anyone who does not have health insurance?

Spain has socialized medicine and their doctor to patient ratio (approx 1 in 200) is in fact much higher than the US (approx 1 in 400).  Their doctors make $100k a year on salary while the US doctors get paid for services unevenly.

I actually know a lot of people my age in college who choose not to get health care because we really don't believe insurance helps us. It's sort of like car insurance for people who don't drive. That's why most costs go for elderly.

Yes that is very true. A cardiologist gets paid half a million a year. I totally get your point on the college aspect of it. But lets say something terribe happens, then you are pretty screwed. The reason why I say that is because last winter, I went to the ER for a very bad case of the flu. The hospital billed me, because some one in my insunace company screwed up big time. The bill came to six thousand dollars, for just an over night.

compared to a hospital visit in peru which was 200 dollars american. For me reform should be no more charging outrageously on band aids ht cost 4 dollars a box, and tings like that. By the way the care in Peru was much better than the US, they cared about me like a human being, than just someone who they are going to milk for alls its worth
