This is Mae Mai Muay Thai, the father of Muay Thai.

Muay Thai it's just the sport of Mae Mai Muay Thai.

The Thai warriors in the past centuries used two styles of combat : Krabi Krabong, it means "the art of the armed combat" the warriors fought with swords and other weapons, then comes Mae Mai Muay Thai "the art of disarmed combat" and that's what you see in this video, in the past it was usually to put pieces of glass on the protections around the hands.

And yes muaythai came from krabi krabong only because when soldiers lost their weapons they still can fight with bare hands. This clip you see we Thai ppl call it Muay Boran (old muaythai style).
