~Both my mother's and fathers parents were from "Lagrinka", the Polish Village north of downtown Toledo, OH. Upon listening to this video I was so inspired to locate Al Soyka's tune, Everybody Dance Polka. It may be found on a CD titled "Polish Polkas and other favorites".
What a sound as good or better than Jimmy Sturr that was the real polish American beat not like most of them that sound more like country style .Long live the Poles and there music.Happy Happy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To hear this band in person your hair would have goose pimples..
Seeing these movies of polka bands from the 1950s brings back great golden memories of my childhood in my Polish grandparents Polish neighborhood in 1950s Detroit. Thank you for posting these movies!
Wish i would have been around at that time period, it must have been awesome to see those big polka bands in person, man al soyka looks like he is playing that box with tons of happy emotion.
Make sure your grandfather see's this. My father took them at Port Washington Polish Hall back in the late 1950's Long Island NY. My father is Edward Duchnowski, Larry and my father where good friends back then.
Listening to the older bands is enjoyable at times, but the added (fake) crowd noise gets annoying after a while!
