Final code: 000, Destruct 0 sets off a series of small charges to incinerate the hull section by section, followed by a much larger explosion which will destroy most of the saucer section.
Final code: 000, Destruct 1 results in an overload in the Warp Core. This Auto-Destruct is meant for deep space away from planets. The explosion is equivalent to 100-megatons.
Abort code had to be done before the 5-second mark and was Code 1-2-3 Continuity, Abort Destruct Sequence
@sm6175 Their simply nothing to show TOS era warp cores were as powerful or volatile as TNG warp cores. For all we know it wasn't possible to breach the warp core.
The Star Trek trilogy is like real life. I for one feel like I lived something similar like when I was in school, one of my best friends went to jail which was my girlfriend's brother, my girlfriend beaten to a bloody pulp and been mutilized by a car accident and she passed away shortly after and years later my grandmother passed away and all the money I saved in the bank had disappeared. I myself lived a 9.5 year long trilogy.
This is purely a guess... Perhaps the expanded edition trek 2 soundtrack came about during the time they were remastering for Bluray? The expanded Motion Picture came after they finished tinkering with the Directors Edition.. As they haven't done the same for the rest, perhaps we won't get anything anytime soon, unless they decide to take the time and remaster the remaining Kirk era movies, which they should, for the needs of the many!!!
I love the fact that someone went to the time and effort to at least GET the music, via by recording it from the films and eliminating most of the dialogue and sound effects. Shows that at least the fans give a damn about having a complete score of these films.
That would be nice, due to the fact that there is quite a bit of music missing from the original soundtrack release.
On a side note, I just got the Wrath of Khan complete score. Totally worth buying. It sounds so good and it was great to finally have some music cues that have been missing all these years, and not by way of a well done bootleg either.
I agree with your comments, you're cool, so too is SeanMaccaUK. I love the Star Trek series from Bill Shatner, through to Patrick OBE Stewart, the other spin off series are good but not in the same league as TOS and TNG.
I love the Soundtracks to the movies and I have most of them! Luuurrrrve 'em.
Why was this not on the soundtrack.... mucho BIG MISTAKE! If word got out about this track it would have sold by the millions.
I have a distinct feeling that with the release of the expanded Wrath of Khan score that came out recently that a official release of The Search For Spock expanded soundtrack is in the pipeline for a future release. I'm hoping against all hope here now on that one.
It should be, I don't see why not. If all the music from Wrath of Khan was included on the new release, then it should be no different whenever part 3's soundtrack is released.
@alucard624 I like your website by the way. It seems like you like Wrath of Khan quite a bit too!
I was too young to see it in the cinema, the BBFC made it a 15 (or an X rating back in 1982) so my brother and myself couldn't see it with our Dad. Bummer.
I'd love to have seen Wrath of Khan on the big screen.
@SPeacock - That would be good if they did. I would like to see all of them in the cinema. I saw the first Star Trek Film and Star Trek 4 Voyage Home in the cinema of the original crew, brilliant films. And Insurrection & Nemesis of the Next Generation, also cool.
I'd like to see the original Charlton Heston 'Planet of the Apes' in the cinema too.
@alucard624 while I agree, the dialogue shows up underneath still... I think it'd be better if it were up in the mix. What do I know? I grew up listening to Queen's "Flash Gordon" Soundtrack
@alucard624 ITA. I was soooo disappointedwhen I bought the soundtrack and scores like these were missing and then they had some cheesy 80s version of the theme song added for what reason I have no idea.
Interesting thing about Kirk and the line "no tricks" watch the episode "Day of the Dove." You can find some very subtle continuity with the way Kirk "was" and "is."
No tricks usually means something badass, on Kirk's part, is about to happen.
I had some mixed feelings with the new movie, but one thing is certain. Pine, Quinto and certainly Urban are channeling the legends. Pine particularly when he stepped onto the bridge at the end of the film and slapped Bones on the shoulder. The tone, the metre, the way he held himself. It was definitively a Kirk moment, and I was glad to see that.
I actually loved this cue, because it's the cue when the Klingon boarding party beams onto the Enterprise, yet the boarding party is unaware that they beamed right into a death trap.
In addendum, I'm pretty confident in assuming that while Kruge was screaming at his crewmen to get out of that death trap, in his mind he was thinking "oh shit...Kirk you sorry son-of-a-bitch..."
@Digginjim Actually it was the Genesis duology (or two movies or simply a couple). It was truly heartbreaking to destroy the Enterprise because of the Klingon.
@theimpossiblers They probably were including The Voyage Home in that trilogy; The Search for Spock, in terms of in-universe time, occurred days after The Wrath of Khan, and The Voyage Home a couple of weeks after The Search for Spock.
@kantlavar actually I believe there had to been at least several days to a week between the events of Wrath of Khan and Search for Spock since it would have taken at least that much time for them to rescue the crew of the reliant, drop off Savik/David for their trip on the Grissom, and then fly back to spacedock where Star Trek III begins
In The Voyage Home kirk says something along the lines of, "We are in the 3rd month of our Vulcan exile" so there was 3 months between Star Trek 3 and 4
@gfedtyhfs Here's what I think: At the end of Wrath of Khan, sure, we saw how Spock died to repair the Warp Drive, but do you really think that the ship was able to travel at full speed right after getting ass-raped by Khan and the Reliant? No, so I'd say that the ship took about a week to get back. Add in a few days for David and Savik to get transferred and people to settle back down to life on Earth, and I'd say that Search for Spock picks up about 2-3 weeks after Wrath of Khan...
@flickmonger87 That would make sense considering the wear on the Photon tube when it was found and opened. It landed at the end of WOK in perfect condition.
How do you record background audio and omit the foreground talking/noise?

Not to mention the drama. KIrk lost his son...but then killed Kruge like a boss.

For the Constitution-Class Starships, this is the destruct sequence:
Destruct Sequence 1. Code 11A(Captain)
Destruct Sequence 2. Code 11A2B(Science/1st Officer)
Destruct Sequence 3. Code 1B2B3(Chief Engineer)
The order was flipped around in ST III, but if you watch "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield", you'll see the correct order.
sm6175 11 months ago
@sm6175 it was flipped cuz spock was in the original order ... in ST3 he was assumed dead
