lol @ below... anderson silva, gsp, and soon to be JDS, none are american, and none have a wrestling base, and even if pick cain, he is technically from mexico.. your an idiot... and its well known UFC rules are designed around wrestling giving them an advantage... tell me, how many wrestlers did well in pride rule style matches? If all you know is UFC then you dont know mma. go watch some vale tudo and get educated.
problem with japanese fighters is they pretty much only want to fight other japanese, ya gotta come to the states and kick butt their to gain the respect of the world
@sophisticatedplayboy hahaha i bet shinya aoki will beat all the ufc fighter in his weight class...but dana bitchass wouldn't accept him in...but yea he did lose his first US debut...but he came back on his second one and crank the shit the guy he fought.
@sophisticatedplayboy That's because most of the Japanese that come here are at the END of thier careers. Send Matt Hughes over to Japan now and watch what happens to him. And BTW Iminari destroyed Mike Brown who is American.
@sophisticatedplayboy Thats pretty racist. I don't think that is why at all. How many Other countries are comming over here and doing good. I think its because not just Japan. England, Holland, Germany, Russia. They have amazing grappling but not good stand up or amazing stand up but not good grappling. Also If you dont have wrestling your not gonna do good and none of thoses countries are that big in it. America is pretty big in it. Lots of wrestling programs and in high school.
@sophisticatedplayboy Kid Yamamoto has amazing stand up but wrestling was his problem against demitrious Johnson, Same thing with Dan Hardy and hes english. Marloes Coenen seemed unbeatable good stand up very good submission grappling but just lost the title to miesha tate and she was better in thoses areas except miesha tate was very strong in wrestling. You need to think before you speak. Yushin Okami was very sucessful bc hes well rounded and has a strong wrestling base.
@sophisticatedplayboy Brazilian fighters prob do the best bc they come over with very strong Muay Thai And Very strong BJJ but some lack wrestling. Now thats being exposed Anderson Silva seemed untouchable until he fought chael sonnen. Lets face it MMA is designed for wrestling base, Add strong stand up to that, you can go pretty far and be pretty successful in MMA. All the ones that are are strong wrestler. Randy Couture, Jon Jones, Chael Sonnen, Dan Henderson, Dominick Cruz, Frankie Edgar
@sophisticatedplayboy I can keep going all day. You don't see the bigger picture, its not that Japanese fighters suck I really believe they are strong at 1 thing and not all three or just lack wrestling. And like I said not just Japan all the other countries.
@sophisticatedplayboy Also all the Current Champions besides featherweight are all wrestling base and have strong wrestling and are all from America how do you explain that one.
Is this your assumption or can you find a source of a prominent Japanese fighter claiming he only wants to fight other Japanese fighters? I would imagine prospect Japanese fighters in Japan will most likely get other Japanese opponents (what a shock!) unless they stand out like Okami, Sexyama, Omigawa (recently), Kid Yamamoto, Gomi, Fukuda. All of which are in the UFC so it'll be easy for you to look up. Below that level you can find Aoki, Kawajiri, and Mizugaki.
@FullBloodedHmoob if ur a big business u have yakuza ties wether u want to or not in japan. supposedly it is impossible to do do anything business wise without the yakuza. and im quoting enson on this.
dude is right look at KID now 0-2 in the UFC, not even on the main card....
