Anyone else on the ground getting pounded by Shane like that and the fight is called easily. Brock got the benefit by Josh Rosenthal because of who he is. He got punched 60 times and Rosenthal has stopped fights quicker for less.
I personally don't like immediate rematches, the case of Machida v. Shogun being the exception as Shogun really should've won that fight, no doubt about it IMO, and I don't think there was anyone else even worthy of a title shot at the time so it didn't stall the division.
I think BJ should've had a fight or two before his rematch, if not to just get him motivated or something. I also definitely agree that Chael should have to wait for another shot, he was submitted.
Of all the youtube videos, vicioussid has the most thoughtful analysis.
I disagree that B.J. did not deserve an immediate rematch. B.J. had more effective counterstriking in the first bout and should have never had to deal with Edgar a second time.
One thing about Couture's takedown -- Randy explained that he did the shot with a specific "sloppy" strategy. He explained it in a post-fight presser.
Its not only 'fans' dismissing Fedor after 1 loss. Overeem gave him < 5 weeks for an official offer to fight before committing to K1 yet again, giving him 1 title defense in 3 years. Check his tweets, Dude's a ducking champion.
The thing is with the HW division is that it's basically starting from scratch, alot of the top fighters in that division are new fighters, and the established fighters are losing, that leaves Brock as clearly the top HW. As for UFC promotion, every organization promotes itself with high prestige, I don't see what the problem is
the problem is less enlightened ppl than yourself, believe the hype and fallacies:
-Brock's #1 status is somehow not of a default nature
- ppl are getting into the top 10 cuz they're sired from only one descript win, then showing no longevity ex. Gonzaga, Kongo, Rogers, etc. maybe Carwin.
-what should be objective mma publications are bowing to the matchmaking and press.
Noone should have a problem w/ ppl like SId promulgating these notions.
@idz135 Besides insults and unsubstantiated opinion you really didn't say anything showing your apparent enlightenment. My point was that the HW division is in a state of flux and most of the top fighters are new guys, so the experience level of Brock really doesn't effect his ranking very much. It has nothing really to do with publications.
@Rucker1980 here's an example relating the issues of overly biased org promoting affecting press & in turn public opinion. Only after Fedor lost did the UFC surely start promoting the Lesnar/Carwin fight as the two top hvys/winner as #1. The result was a minmal exp champ defending his belt whilst cowering from strikes against a guy w/ only one descript win, who only has gas for one round. The established fighters losing has no direct effect on these 'new' fighters having such deficiences & ?s.
