Hmm good question, but Tajiks use cyrillic because of Russia's influence. In early 20th century we used Latin and then switched to cyrillic. Before that we used arabic script.
I was studying traditional pamiri & kulyabi dance there & I performed in Khorog & Dushanbe (with Padida Theater) with Parvina & Zykreolo, but I don't have any video! I was wondering if anyone in Tajikistan could find these clips from tv?! Please!! The concert w/ Parvina was in Aug at the Opera house & the Borbat theater concert was for the president on Sept 8th, 2006. It was all televised in Dushanbe. Thank you!
Hi guys, I just got back from 2.5 months in Tajikistan. I was traveling all over Badakhshan & also stayed in Dushanbe. It IS the most beautiful country in the world, the people, mountains, water, music, food, dancing, everything about this place made me fall in love with this country.

because they were under the rule of the Soviet Union until they got their independence...however the language part just stuck

Tajik writing is the closest(geographically) get to writing indian languages in Cyrillic.
