@Shirraz87 The manga plot was solid. I believe that FMA told the manga story 2x better than brotherhood and even the manga itself. The problem was that FMA couldn't finish the manga story. It could only tell a quarter of it. Because it branched off, it was open to many plot holes. Yet it had the most potential. Brotherhood too me, is as good only as far as the manga can take it. If FMA was able to tell the full manga story it, I say it would have went even further.

@Arcilios Yeah,the original FMA is better. It was made to be a masterpiece. But BH does have really good action scenes, but it just butchered material plot wise, that FMA had nailed. For examples we can use Hughes,Lust,and more. In the manga and BH, it's hard to believe that the Elrics are just meeting him after working under Mustang for four years, on top of that he just showed up in the series and died.Same way with the Nina incident, and Lust was just a cliche villain in BH,and more

Technically, Brotherhood was the original. It's closer to how the author of the manga meant it to be, but it was changed around and made into the "original" FMA with all the plot holes and cliffhangers we've all seen.

The Xing characters are fantastic, not to mention that the whole plot of Brotherhood is better. Christ, if homunculus were created from failed human transmutations like in the 2003 one, we'd have SHIT LOADS of homunculus. Do I even have to say how they made Mustang a complete pussy? I could go on and on with this stuff, but I'll stop here, Brotherhood is better by a landslide.

For one, Father became one of those cliched anime villains "I will become God!",etc. I'm not into those ninjas because that's even overused in anime.And about the ending to brotherhood where everyone lived happily ever after. That's a cliche of an ending.The original FMA had a more dark and mature plot. The manga/new anime was too ''black and white'', evil vs good. Oh, and who ever said there weren't more homunculus anyway?

And having barely any large-scale events in the series hardly qualifies it as mature, and both series have a lot of dark realism to them. I think the key word you were looking for there was boring, not dark or mature.

@windkai FMA is original bc it has its own original fundamental, and actually more people prefer the original over brotherhood, or hell it doesn't matter. I've been looking at different FMA videos, and alot of fans prefer the original over brotherhood for almost similar reasons. Some say that in contrast with 2003, brotherhood was bit cliche and unrealistic, and had a larger grip of reality. I agree, but Brotherhood does have great animation and BH fans say that's better.

Brotherhood starts off slower than the original story Fullmetal Alchemist but I like Brotherhood better since I actually read the manga first. Also Brotherhood fights are much better than the original and all of my favorite characters are actually in. The ending also is satisfactory. FMA ending was weak sauce.

The first 13 episodes basically tell the same story in both anime. It's really here with Greed's introduction that the plots split dramatically. Brotherhood's beginning feels very condensed, even rushed compared to the original because it's covering old ground. At this point in the anime, I'd have said I preferred the original too. My feelings changed dramatically when the Brotherhood plot really took off after this episode. Brotherhood is just a superior story all around.
