I told many people, many times that prices would be going up. I have said to buy Gold and Silver for 2 years now. I warned them that food would go higher and they did not prepare. Finally a few in the last 2 months have bought a little silver. Most acknowledge that there is inflation now in food and gas yet they believe it has peaked. Buy canned foods, they last longer than the 2 year "eat by" date. Canned goods can last 10-20 yrs, they may some of their taste and nutritional value but as long as the can isn't bulging it's safe to eat.

This is frustrating, I would love to buy more but I live in an apartment with very little storage space...guess it's good I am on the third floor with plenty of guns for when the masses riot. On a side note, what would be a "grocery list" for survival buying? Anything canned?
@sinnersavedbygrace7 dried beans, peas, lentils, rice, pasta.... is a great start. Little goes a LONG way...and easy to store. You can easily store "suitcases" of that stuff under your bed. Make sure to stop up on can foods (a good can opener) gravy, sauces, can meat...like SPAM. Water may be an issue..so dried beans and lintels may be impossible to cook. BUT YOU CAN BARTER them. So..store then any way.Basically, store what you can that you like and will actually EAT. Have plenty of candles too.
@ajfelix67 double wrap your rice in extra plastic, rice weevils eat right through the plastic it comes in. Put canned stuff in metal garbage cans dehydrated soups in plastic seal bags and put in metal garbage can. That should keep for a year. Remember if you store some gas and have a generator they can and will be confiscated by local police in a declared emergency also if you are know to have extra food that will be confiscated hide it and lie. Do not share what you're doing with neighbors.

Some parts wooded and great for hunting; has a med sized pond, stocked each yr, and the ducks and geese also hang around it; a good chunk of fertile land has been being worked and used for past 5yrs! We have 2 yrs of food now, and it took since 2/2010 to get here, between the money and all the time it takes to prep it. Don't forget seasonons, as well, and condiments. You can get tomato powder to make your sauces and ketchup with. I also canned alot of vegetable soup, there is alot of good info from Mormon women here on You Tube, since they know so much about food storage, search for some, and don't foget, heck, just canned goods and pastas! Cheap now..
Refridgerated foods, are NOT long term food storage, I have 7 to 8months of chicken beef pork and cube steak I canned with My All American brand PRESSURE canner, around 230 bucks, but will last forever, you need a pRESSURE canner to properly can and store all low acid foods ( meats), Meats in your freezer will go bad or we lose power, which happens alot! I made 8 qts and 16 pints of homemade beef stew yeasterday, I agve some for Xmas gigts and everyone loved it! Will last 5 yrs.
LDS IS your least expensive source for food, and I would go soon, as they might start banning non mormons, as inflation creeps in. Now, I also have a Food Saver device (100 bucks)., get the one with the port, so you can seal Mason jars fullk of chocolate chips and all dried foods, will last 5 yrs. I have 25 lbs of Hershey Cocoa sealed like this, we will want comfort foods!! Also, we joined Restaraunt Depot, for bulk foods, just get a Biz. license of any sort, your city should have one.

only buy freeze dried food. Buying store groceries is a waste of money. You need food that has a 30 year shelf life and needs no freezer or frigerator to keep it if you power is out of you run out of money to pay the bill. You also need a good water purifier set up. Check with ShaneShop (dot) net and ask about any discounts they might be offering. They are a small webstore, but very honest.

@PiercingKnight Good question! I'm in the same boat. I don't want to put myself into a high tax bracket by taking too many IRA $'s but I also know I might lose them anyways! I've been chipping away 10-15k per year but, as a result, I'm having to pay more for the metals than I would have if I made a bold move 2 yrs ago and paid the tax! Many restless nights over this issue! I don't see a fair deal in exchanging $'s for some new currency. Most likely "take it or leave it"

I've been following this stuff for a couple years. years. I'm graduating and getting a job in June then promptly trying to getting a job. I'm hoping this collapse doesn't happen before that point. I feel utterly hopeless living at home, jobless. It's very frustrating.

Supermarkets food stock is only a few days supply, that's why when there's a hurricane warning or some natural disaster people run to the store before supply's run out due to transportation halting. Everyone should have at least 3 month supply. Store shelves will empty quickly just like they did during hurricane Katrina, they didn't even have clean water to drink for almost a week. An economic collapse could last decades! Everyone should watch "after Armageddon" documentary.

They mention a little about owning gold/silver, returning back to living off the land, the importance of owning guns, ways to get out of abandoned cities, how important it is to stock up on food/water, how to find food/water. Its a scenario of a crisis situation on what could happen if an epidemic hit the U.S. They don't specifically focus on one thing, as the situations arise they offer solutions.

@D33Lux I was in Wal-mart recently stocking up on my supplies & got 30 cans of sardines. I was amazed to see that there were only a handful left. What if there was a run on food? You could never get enough of what you needed for your family even if you took all that they had of an item. Can you imagine 300 hungry folks after the same can of beans that you're eyeing? They will steal it right out of your cart! And they will steal it in the parking lot. In that event, shop with wasp spray & Fido!
@mkmason2002 Thank-God people are oblivious here in Canada, the store shelves are full. When going to Wal-mart & I showed up to the cashier with 70 cans of tuna she gave a weird look. About 6 months ago I bought 25 cases of water I got the same look. You're correct there's not enough for even 5 people in some stores. @morningmayan canned foods last a lot longer then the expiration date as long as there are no dents or rust around the rim! Dont be fooled by expiration dates on canned items. Find the sales and buy a flat or two at a time or more if you can. Also ramen noodles last forever!!! My store has had them on sale for a long time lol, 6 for a buck. I always buy the stuff on sale, spagetti sc 10 for 10bucks, noodles the same. I bought some 5 gallone buckets at home depot and just load them up.rice2

@cbhockenbury i just come across this vid and i noticed u forgot pasta which can last for years, pickled food,(so long they stay in the vinegar substance. dried noodles is the best option. that last for a couple years or more maybe forever. and yourr ight! there are tonnes of other dehydrated foods ready to cook out there, plus it saves you alot of extra change at the end of the day

THis QE2 is different because the monies go to public works and into the street level. With more freshly printed monies sloshing around the street, it's gonna compete with your dollars. @sinnersavedbygrace7 dried beans, peas, lentils, rice, pasta.... is a great start. Little goes a LONG way...and easy to store. You can easily store "suitcases" of that stuff under your bed. Make sure to stop up on can foods (a good can opener) gravy, sauces, can meat...like SPAM. Water may be an issue..so dried beans and lintels may be impossible to cook. BUT YOU CAN BARTER them. So..store then any way.Basically, store what you can that you like and will actually EAT. Have plenty of candles too.

@ajfelix67 double wrap your rice in extra plastic, rice weevils eat right through the plastic it comes in. Put canned stuff in metal garbage cans dehydrated soups in plastic seal bags and put in metal garbage can. That should keep for a year. Remember if you store some gas and have a generator they can and will be confiscated by local police in a declared emergency also if you are know to have extra food that will be confiscated hide it and lie. Do not share what you're doing with neighbors.

We have 2 yrs of food now, and it took since 2/2010 to get here, between the money and all the time it takes to prep it. Don't forget seasonons, as well, and condiments. You can get tomato powder to make your sauces and ketchup with. I also canned alot of vegetable soup, there is alot of good info from Mormon women here on You Tube, since they know so much about food storage, search for some, and don't foget, heck, just canned goods and pastas! Cheap now..

Refridgerated foods, are NOT long term food storage, I have 7 to 8months of chicken beef pork and cube steak I canned with My All American brand PRESSURE canner, around 230 bucks, but will last forever, you need a pRESSURE canner to properly can and store all low acid foods ( meats), Meats in your freezer will go bad or we lose power, which happens alot! I made 8 qts and 16 pints of homemade beef stew yeasterday, I agve some for Xmas gigts and everyone loved it! Will last 5 yrs.

LDS IS your least expensive source for food, and I would go soon, as they might start banning non mormons, as inflation creeps in. Now, I also have a Food Saver device (100 bucks)., get the one with the port, so you can seal Mason jars fullk of chocolate chips and all dried foods, will last 5 yrs. I have 25 lbs of Hershey Cocoa sealed like this, we will want comfort foods!! Also, we joined Restaraunt Depot, for bulk foods, just get a Biz. license of any sort, your city should have one.

Everyone, do a Search ( on your favorite search site), for the LDS Preparadness manual, you can search and down load for free, please do not pay for this. It is 70 t0 80 pages and has TONS of info on food storing how to's etc..Also, Go to the LDS Cannery nearest to you, we are not Mormon, but have been 3 times, we have 28 cases of food stuffs to last 30 yrs unopened. We now grind our own wheat and I purchased 150 lbs for 37.38 censt 1 month ago! Wheat berries NEVER go bad

only buy freeze dried food. Buying store groceries is a waste of money. You need food that has a 30 year shelf life and needs no freezer or frigerator to keep it if you power is out of you run out of money to pay the bill. You also need a good water purifier set up. Check with ShaneShop (dot) net and ask about any discounts they might be offering. They are a small webstore, but very honest.

@PiercingKnight Good question! I'm in the same boat. I don't want to put myself into a high tax bracket by taking too many IRA $'s but I also know I might lose them anyways! I've been chipping away 10-15k per year but, as a result, I'm having to pay more for the metals than I would have if I made a bold move 2 yrs ago and paid the tax! Many restless nights over this issue! I don't see a fair deal in exchanging $'s for some new currency. Most likely "take it or leave it"

I've been following this stuff for a couple years. years. I'm graduating and getting a job in June then promptly trying to getting a job. I'm hoping this collapse doesn't happen before that point. I feel utterly hopeless living at home, jobless. It's very frustrating.

@TheYanna2009 Sure, I can help you out with that. Gold and silver are assets, but not the most important ones. The first and formost asset anyone can have is between their ears. Friends and family are also an asset, so are good neighbors. Gold and silver come way down the list. That isn't a morality lesson. It's a matter of fact. Fill your head with information and knowledge, and learn to think for yourself. Gold won't watch your back or pick you up when you fall dfown.

Supermarkets food stock is only a few days supply, that's why when there's a hurricane warning or some natural disaster people run to the store before supply's run out due to transportation halting. Everyone should have at least 3 month supply. Store shelves will empty quickly just like they did during hurricane Katrina, they didn't even have clean water to drink for almost a week. An economic collapse could last decades! Everyone should watch "after Armageddon" documentary.

@SGTbull07 "After Armageddon" is not a bad documentary, I didn't find it like it was propaganda. They mention a little about owning gold/silver, returning back to living off the land, the importance of owning guns, ways to get out of abandoned cities, how important it is to stock up on food/water, how to find food/water. Its a scenario of a crisis situation on what could happen if an epidemic hit the U.S. They don't specifically focus on one thing, as the situations arise they offer solutions.

While that is still my long term goal this very show (After Armageddon) truly woke me up to the realization that I must be able to provide for my family if anything from a snowstorm to a global pandemic should occur. @D33Lux I was in Wal-mart recently stocking up on my supplies & got 30 cans of sardines. I was amazed to see that there were only a handful left. What if there was a run on food? You could never get enough of what you needed for your family even if you took all that they had of an item. Can you imagine 300 hungry folks after the same can of beans that you're eyeing? They will steal it right out of your cart! And they will steal it in the parking lot. In that event, shop with wasp spray & Fido!

@mkmason2002 Thank-God people are oblivious here in Canada, the store shelves are full. When going to Wal-mart & I showed up to the cashier with 70 cans of tuna she gave a weird look. About 6 months ago I bought 25 cases of water I got the same look. You're correct there's not enough for even 5 people in some stores. Everyone should find their nearest Mormon church they sell in bulk at very good prices & even have storage containers & oxygen absorbers. Shelf life for some foods are 30 yrs

@morningmayan canned foods last a lot longer then the expiration date as long as there are no dents or rust around the rim! Dont be fooled by expiration dates on canned items. Find the sales and buy a flat or two at a time or more if you can. Also ramen noodles last forever!!! My store has had them on sale for a long time lol, 6 for a buck. I always buy the stuff on sale, spagetti sc 10 for 10bucks, noodles the same. I bought some 5 gallone buckets at home depot and just load them up.rice2

@cbhockenbury i just come across this vid and i noticed u forgot pasta which can last for years, pickled food,(so long they stay in the vinegar substance. dried noodles is the best option. that last for a couple years or more maybe forever. and yourr ight! there are tonnes of other dehydrated foods ready to cook out there, plus it saves you alot of extra change at the end of the day

Fruits @ veges canned store for @ least 2 yrs. Seafood usu. stores for 3 yrs. @morningmayan ...contact a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints....they believe in storing a year's supply of food,clothing,fuel, etc. and could connect you with local resources and places which sell food storage. I try and keep stocked up on things a little at a time as I have money to do so and also I would advise never to let you car gas tank get under half full . That way in case of an emergency you could get to a safe place if need be. Good luck...

@morningmayan canned tuna fish/soups/tomatoes, peanut butter/nut butters/oatmeal/rice/beans. Check out how to prepare for a hurricane and getting a food stash together./store in large plastic container w/lid. Get a countertop water purifier & filters. Of course, meds and pet products fall into prep as well. Get a canister type two burner stove and x-tra canisters. CAMPMOR.COM has great prices on all their portable cooking devices.
Rotate your stash to keep stuff from going bad before use.

WARNING: Only buy double-long ETF on oil if you believe oil is going straight up. Even if oil stays where it is for some time, but is very volatile, a double-long ETF will slaughter you. To summarize: A leveraged ETF of an asset that is very volatile will send you to the poorhouse.

OLO is the DB Powerhares Oil Long, DXO was the Double Long which is no longer trading. So, instead I bought PSLV (Sprott's new Physical Silver Fund) & as a gamble, a bit more AGQ which is the DOUBLE LONG Silver ETF which is a rocket ship on UP Silver days. Note however that if oil prices go down or stay where they are, but are very volatile, the volatility will slaughter you. If you want a safer investment, just go with a regular oil ETF: USO in the US and HUZ on Toronto Stock Exchange.

THis QE2 is different because the monies go to public works and into the street level. With more freshly printed monies sloshing around the street, it's gonna compete with your dollars. More monies chasing the same goods like foods, gas, as well as, silver and gold. Bang, this time around u will see and feel the price inflation from the QE2. The 1st stimulus package (QE1) is quite different from the current QE2. The QE1 money didn't see the day of light in the economy, the monies went straight to the big banks and autos for debt settlement. It didn't raise real inflaton that much. Even that, gold and silver still gone up in prices.

If you raise the price of food more people will grow it because there is more profit in it. The result will be too much food on the market and the prices will drop and food will get cheaper. The elites will only succed in destroying their own food industries.
Cows eat grass...try to starve a cow in North America. There is more than enough food available to feed the whole world 100 times over. The only result of trying to starve people will be too much food on the market.
