I can't do anything. I can make everything just fine... Everything is all clear.... And then I try to save it. I figured "save to ROM" would put the level in the game for me... so I press it, click OK, and I go and play it... but it's just the normal level. I try to load it, open it, do whatever I can do play it, but It's just not there.
@Jvizzlezz The only two things I can think of is that either you are saving it wrong, or you are opening the wrong file. When you are in the Level Editor (not Overworld or any other) it's File->Save Level to ROM.
Also make sure that your emulator is opening the right file (and that you are in the right folder. This is easier if the ROM you are editing has a unique name, so it's not just called Super Mario World.)
@dragemis I discovered shortly after I made that comment that the only way for me to play it is to open the emulator under the File tab in Lunar Magic (File, Emulator, Run ROM in Emulator). I still find the controls very awkward on my PC, because I beat SMW with my GBA, and I became so amazing at it... I get the ROM for my PC and I can barely beat level one >_>. If there is any way I could hook up my GBA to my computer, or simply put levels onto my GBA, please let me know. Thank you.
I've never about hooking a GBA up to a computer, but there might be a way, you'll have to look into that yourself though.
Lunar Magic is unfortunately only compatible with SNES ROMs, so you couldn't use it to modify a GBA ROM even if you wanted to. Also; even if you managed to put Lunar Magic levels on your GBA, you wouldn't be able to play them without running some kind of SNES emulation, unfortunately.
Thanks for watching, sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Are you in the right layer? When you place an "Object" (Add Objects Window) you have to have Layer 1 selected. When you place a Sprite (Add Sprites Window) you need to be in the Sprite Layer. You can change layers with the three quick-buttons next to the "Quick Save" button in the toolbar, or under "Edit" in the top menu.
According to the maker of the program; Lunar Magic only supports the US -and Japanese ROMs. I've never tried myself, so I can't say for 100% certain, but it should be NTSC only.
"Currently both the American and Japanese version 1.0 Super Mario World SNES ROMs are supported. The SMW portion of the American version 1.0 Mario All Stars + World SNES ROM is also supported. Any SNES ROM you use must have the standard 0x200 byte file header."
It's likely that the ROM you have is the PAL version and is therefore not supported by Lunar Magic. You need the NTSC version (Japanese or American/British).
dragemis...can you help me...now...when i saw a "super mario world ultra secret area" i didn't know it was hacked, and now i know it was created using lunar magic. but i want to know is. how to put / create fake power up like in "super mario world ultra secret area" cause in that video, there is power up named "laser mario".
I don't know exactly how to do that, but I'm pretty sure you are going to need some form of programming skills or some type of patch. I would suggest going to Super Mario World Central (google "smwcentral") and look around there or ask on their forum.
Hi how do you create a line guide for a buzzer saw or something to go on? Where is it in object/sprites window? How to i know the buzzer saw will follow the line?
Some of the line guide parts are located under "Extended Objects" from object 4D onwards. Some are in "Tileset Specific Objects" from 38X onwards.
Note that you need to "Change FG/BG GFX" under "Level" -> "Change Index of Graphics in Header" to one of the "Rope" ones, 2, 6 or 8.
In order to make the buzzer stick to the line, you'll have to experiment. It can be a little tricky at first, but once you place them just right, the buzzer will stick to the line automatically.
No, you open the "Add Objects" window. In the drop down menu find "Extended Objects". There you have things like "Turn block with feather inside" etc.
Note that Feathers and Flowers will be musrooms if Mario is small.
Actually, I don't explain where you get the rom since it would be illegal to do so. While I'm sure Nintendo wouldn't take legal action, Youtube might remove the video or worse; suspend the account. That would be a hassle.
Also, the videos do assume you have Lunar Magic and can replicate what I do. Learning by doing, you know?

how must i save the level???? its my first time
SMWfreak72 1 year ago
@SMWfreak72 File -> Save Level to ROM
Make sure you have a back up of your clean, unedited SMW-ROM so that you don't overwrite your only unedited ROM.

cant paste!!!!!!!!! how i do???i click on that ground and than?
zakaria888 2 years ago
Right-click pastes anything you have selected.
dragemis 2 years ago
Um, I kinda have a problem. The items that you pick up and use (fire flowers stuff like that), never show up in the gameplay.
hiddenThecakeisalie 2 years ago
The most likely reason I can think of is that you have too many sprites on screen at the same time. Try removing some sprites and see if that helps.
If it still doesn't work, send me a PM with details on what sprites/objects you are using, what level you are editing, etc.

can you use this program with the PAL version of the ROM

you can just download the u.s rom and the u.s program. and it shouldn't matter.

Why does it want a ox200 header? and where do i find a snes version of the file?
22darthmaul22 2 years ago
Why does what want 0x200 header? In what context are you getting that error?
If you mean that you want to find the SMW-rom, I honsetly don't know where to, off-hand. Google is your friend.
dragemis 2 years ago
When i try to run the rom, on lunar magic, is says "ROM not supported!" and asks for that header. is it because the file isn't SMC?
22darthmaul22 2 years ago
From the Lunar Magic help file:
"Currently both the American and Japanese version 1.0 Super Mario World SNES ROMs are supported. The SMW portion of the American version 1.0 Mario All Stars + World SNES ROM is also supported. Any SNES ROM you use must have the standard 0x200 byte file header."

Well, i saw the allstars-mario world one...I'll try that, thanks!
22darthmaul22 2 years ago
tried it...didnt work...I'm getting these from doperoms [dot] com. Is there any difference between (E) and (U)?
22darthmaul22 2 years ago
Yes, (E) I think is Europe (PAL) and (U) is US (NTSC). I'm pretty certain that's it, but try both to be sure. =)
dragemis 2 years ago
its still asking for a damn header...wtf
22darthmaul22 2 years ago
Quick googling yielded this solution:
"To get a 0x200 bit header, download SNEStool from [SMW Central], and you can add that header needed to edit it in Lunar Magic. "
Simply google "smwcentral" to find the site.
Then simply go to Tools and find SNEStool.

hey, thanks, ill try that!

No, you open the "Add Objects" window. In the drop down menu find "Extended Objects". There you have things like "Turn block with feather inside" etc.
