Canon Powershot SX10 IS Unboxing

I wonder why the Sx-30 doesn't have the hot shoe for flash guns? More of a downgrade than anything. So in order to be getting the most of the SX series the most you could get is the SX-20 or SX-1 but then again it's 600.00 so wow I think canon forgot to put it on there after they made a million of them :) lol IDK weird....

There were batteries in the camera already. At Wal-Mart they take every higher-end camera out of its box, put in batteries and test it to make sure it functions perfectly before they sell it to you.

I guess it would depend on what you consider heavy. For me, its not to heavy to carry around all day, but for my sister it was.

Does it have a tether for the lense cap? A lot of reviews I've read say it doesn't have a tether - but I opened one up at Walmart and it had a tether. I'm confused!

i wouldent buy the sx1. it has half the battery life, a noisier sensor, and i dont need full hd, although the 4fps shooting would be nice. its just not worth it for me.

well, the D40 will have much better image quality, but if you want a lens with this kind of lens on it it will cost several thousand dollars. i would suggest this.

Yeah its still an awesome camera. i had to pay and extra $230 for the SX1. Add another $ 100 bucks for an SDHC 16 gig Card. So i hear ya with the affordability. And if you mainly take pics, the sx10 is awesome.

I bought the camera over christmas, the 20x zoom is pretty impressive and the camera is packed full of features, read the manual cause it tells you more about what it you can do with it. $100 for a 16gig card? You should of waited for boxing day I got one for 20 bucks.. 16 gig holds a hell of a lot!

I want Nikon D40, but considering all the features included on super zooms Slr-Like cameras like this one, I don't know what to do. The only way that I can compare this canon is with a Nikon D90 w/super expensive zoom not the D40! too much money!!!

At similar prices I have this choices (In order of preference)

Canon Powershot SX10 IS (or Nikon D40?),

Nikon Coolpix P80 or Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28,

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50.

What do u think? Do you have samples?

Im selling my d40 and getting this cam, Id need to spend £430 on a 18-200 lens, And even then id only have 300mm zoom, And i hardly use the ISO performance of the D40, 28-560 with IS man in one package is fantastic, Dont get me wrong the D40 has better image quality, But i just cant be bothered with swapping lenses all the time.

I would go with the SX10. the D40 is good, but lenses are so expensive and annoying to change all the time.

Canon bundles a very small 32mb sd card to get you started. i bought a 16gb sdhc, because a 10mp pic at superfine quality is like 4mb each.
