Chick'ssway? wow, I guess you are as old and out of touch as you
look. Never played an A chord like that i my life, nor has any "chick" in my professional band. Poor drone, no wonder you resort to you tube videos. Enjoy.
btw.. you lesson was poorly conceptualized, and the delivery even worse. keep working on it....... oh, and the last bit about it "just being barre chords"? Are you kidding me? That was a simple slide at best. sigh...the internet.....

@LegalyBlondwp Can't remember if I tuned it up to concert pitch or not? But I know the version I learned from was in A. Maybe they tune down a semitone - it's fairly common practice. Saves the singer's voice.
I know I've seen this guy teach before on other utube how-to guitar posts. You know this dude knows how to wail just by the way he mock strums in the drum transition and his overal rhythm.
Any new guitar player learning, look at simple chords like this and the strumming/rhythm feel/groove - everything else falls into place -Awesome post flogbag!
You not only make it sound good but you show why it will not sound right other ways. You are very good explaining how to play something cool.. COOL.. in stead of a want to sound cool..
@flogbag Hey there! Enjoyed your zztop lesson alot, you look like a really nice guy to me, just so far away. Truly funny! Anyway, gonna see zztop tomorrow in Zurich, will check if billy plays it that way! Say hello to Melbourne!
For the heavier bit you might want to try a power chord with the base on the A of your 6th string. It sounds pretty much the same, has a bit of a heavier tone, and goes a little easier with the other two.
Mate, this is Melbourne, Australia. Kansas is so exotic to us that they sell t-shirts about it. I've absolutely no idea what Kansas State Buffalos are, but I like the t-shirt!
You'd have to be pretty bad to have trouble with this, but he is over complicating it.
It isn't an A. Blues uses mainly 5ths. This is no exception. You'll probably find that the full chord would be Am, but here you play A5. Traditionally in blues this would be the second fret on the D and G strings.
From there on just go with your ear. It's real basic, and if you have trouble with it you badly need some serious practice.
If you happen to be using a pick, try hitting the third, fourth, and fifth A chord of the main riff on an upstrike - adds a nice twang to the sound that seems to fit nicely.
creepy look in the intro
