  • Ha you're adorable! Thanks for this video :)

  • OMG, laughed so much, you seem like a lovely young chap! :D x

  • bellend

  • BIG UP DEVON SON

  • I am Plymouthian and I sound nothing like this :L Maybe it's because I don't like sounding like the stereotype.

  • hahah not only did this help me with the accent i have to do for a play as well, you made me laugh a lot while watching too lol x

  • How do you say 'Can't'? Is it the same as a northern A like 'Apple' or more southern like banana?

  • I would just like to say. That is not how people in devon talk. I'm from Exeter which is in devon. And i talk nothing like that. Stupid prick.

  • @FrankersRoseBaby he's from devon too. Stupid prick.

  • @Dayoldsushy He's blaits not. Hense why his accent changes from when he's first talking. To when he's trying to do the accent.

  • @FrankersRoseBaby he is. If you look at his other videos, the devonshire is his original accent which he changed when he moved.

  • Hot Fuzz is set in Gloucestershire where I'm from. Devonshire accent does sound a lot like our one, I can barely tell the difference. Proper farmer accent oo-ar!

  • ahah I like how you say "letter" x)

  • i've just laughed my ass off watching this. thank you, you made my evening

  • Wow!?!?! You are so cool I was cracking up laughing my head off listening to you with your devon accent I absolutely LOVE IT!!!! please post more devon accent video's because do so love to laugh!! ALOT!!LOL*smiles* take devonboy"

  • Fuck you....."intellectually inferior". Just because there are a lot of farms and farmers in devon doesn't mean we are thick. Go die in a hole you posh twat

  • Some times I dont like devonian accent, but then again, some times I love it, it depends on the person you speak to.

  • my most favorite accent is the devonshire one and the best 2 words in tht accent is Alrite dave?

  • Oi think ye forgot to mention the phrase "git on." It's quoite popularrrr too :)

    .

  • omg, your well funny.. i think your accent is coooool too 8-)

  • haha, your a funny guy :)

  • i like your normal accent ^__^

  • how could you possibly sound more intellectually inferior with our devonshire accent? haha.

  • Thankyou! Im from New Zealand and Im also a budding actress. Is the cornish similar also to Somerset and Devon?

  • @guccilily yes, it is.

  • @guccilily cornish, devon somerset and irish all contain similar things. ''buy'' becomes ''bouyi'' ect. elongation of vowels ''back'' becomes ''ba-ack'' comes from the celtic tongues that existed previously.

  • Ahh this is brilliant :D Bideford/Barnstaple accent xD alroight moy loverrrr!

  • I live In Devon and I Love Our Accent Down here =J My Friends Always Take the piss When I Try And Do It !

  • East Devonshire here.

Great explanation of the accent, I think :D

Admittedly, I don't have much of an accent but occasionally the 'farmer/bristolian/Mummerset/whatever' accent creeps in. Then I realise its there so I carry it on.

    I love our accent (;

  • im a girl from devon and not all people talk like that! admittedly i do but part of that was wrong, but my loverrr was so true. you also missed out Allrieght or alreight my loverrr , ohh arre and evening is more Eveenen. But basically i love the mouth bit aha :D Also Tracc'or instead of tractor lol. Devorrn accents are amence !

  • hhahaha that's so accurate!!!

  • very accurate

  • hey...yh i'm from devon..plymouth...and we kinda dont sound anythin like that :L....unless i'm missin summin lol

  • i live in exeter, and that is the best explination iv heard. it like proper hard to explain the accent aswell! :)

  • that was good, i live in Exmouth but was born in Taunton, Somerset.

people from Somerset stretch their words

  • For god's sake, that is awful, especially after the amount of time you spend blowing yourself off about it. Generic RADA accents or what? Please don't insult us by saying we sound like that. Fucking terrible!

  • intelectually inferior... too right bloody devoners xD

  • auditioning for War Horse on Monday...

question about the Dev. Accent... it reminds me a bit of an irish accent in a way... is that ridiculous?

  • Another american here auditioning for a play where a Devon accent is required! Thanks for the help man. Appreciate it.

  • Can you do a Cornish accent?

  • im auditioning for warhorse tomorrow, you've helped one helluva lot!

  • I'm sort of in love with you right now. This was hilarious.

  • thats bristol!! good though

  • @kebabster222 they are slightly similar accents though!

  • Alright, so say I've already got a typical 'standard' English accent down, like Queens English. How would I go about deviating away from that to learn a Devon accent? I find ALLLLLL the english regional accents really fascinating and I've been studying them for a year or so, but now I'm trying to broaden my horizons, haha. I'm trying to tackle all the West country accents next. So yea, how different is it really from what I already know? Great video btw.

  • You sound more Bristol than Devonshire. Maybe it's just too long since I lived in Devon.

  • It sounds more Plymuff than general devon lol

  • Thanks so much..I'm Dabby Bryant in ''our Country's Good' and this was very helpful! Cheers! Tx

  • @Tine2U That's a great play. Good luck.

  • @Tine2U hah i know this was 8 months ago - but SAME. :)

  • @Tine2U im currently doing that play too and needed help on the devon accent to play Dabby Bryant: a brutal play to cope with but its a great play indeed :)

  • @Tine2U I'm the same part in the same play! That's how I found the video... :) Very helpful, thanks.

  • @Tine2U im doing that as one of my subjects in my university lol

  • I ACTULY SPEAK LIKE THIS!!!!

  • Thank you v ery much :)

Have to do blue remember hills in drama and that need a devon accent!

And i am from devon and i cant do one! :L Bad i know! thanks again :)

  • I clicked on 2 stars instead of the play button D: I'm really sorry ( . .)

  • it depends on how strong the accent of the person is, living in Somerset I have a slight somerset accent more noticable when I get angry or excited but my mum was fromWoking so i'm kinda well spoken compared to some people, people outside somerset sometimes notice it but my older colleagues have accents even stronger than his! So I wouldn't say it's totally inaccurate but like i said it depends

  • PMSL this is genius!

  • "Intellectually inferior?" You janner!!

Do you think you're some kind of voice coach or something? Get back to your day job at Trago Mills! By the way sort your bleeding hair out!!

  • This guy is great, lol. Continue the videos, buddy.

  • ESSEX ACCENT WINS :P

  • i live in plymouth and have have a diferent accent called jan

  • Good, useful idea, but the music in the background was too distracting to listen through to the end. Pity.

  • I'm from Devon and I really hope i don't sound like this! lol. This is more of a Bristol accent like Vicki Pollard!

Jeeees i really do not sound this bad, its making me chuckle tho! I had a mate from Birmingham that used to laugh at my accent, he used to always say "I laaaaafed in the graaaass for haaaalf an aaaaour!" I don't think i sound that bad tho... lol x

  • Lol this is so jokes, its more like yorkshire or something than devon. Pretty funny though :)

  • I dont think i sound like that?! I bleeding hope not!

  • funny

  • There is a difference between north & south devon as much as between cornwall & somerset.

  • i live 15miles out of plymouth but i can tell the diffrence from pepz around here and pepz from plymouth, plymouth has its own accent but u might not b able to tell diffrence if ur not a local

  • Im also from plymouth in Devon... but i dont think out accents are that strong. Absolutely love the video tho... so amusing. You have a great personality!

  • im from plymouth in devon and it sounds just like people around here :L

  • Sounds like Vicky Pollard lol

  • hey =]

Is your accent like a somerset one?

Because, coincidentely, i am also an actress and i need to do a somerset/west country accent for a play i am in and i just sound irish!

thanks for helping me out with the accent even if devonian isnt quite somerset!

    x

  • Westcountry accents are very similar just with subtle differences. If you spoke like this in the play, it'd be hard to tell it apart from a somerset accent.

  • okay XD

    thank you my luuver !

    lol

    x

  • @cyberboff thanks!! i was going to ask the same thing - i need the somerset accent for the musical Titanic!

  • Lol come to Liverpool. Liverpool makes Devonshire accents sound posh lol

  • what`s the guy asking you in the end of the video?i can`t figure it out....

  • It's "Do you have an iron in here?"

  • Comment removed

  • If you have ever seen the River Cottage series, there is one man there who speaks with a particularly strong Devon accent as well. I can't remember which of the series it is, but it is the chicken man with the thick beard. What a brilliant accent this is.

  • I'm just glad to be spreading the good word.

  • lol i talk like this...

i am from plymouth, devon near cornwall so yeah it is normal to me.. and i always say me lover ha ha ha ha we also add extra r's on aswell

  • thats where im from too

  • Brilliant! lmfao at one point when the drunkness spread from your mouth to the brains too and you went mad. Okay maybe not.

    Still brilliant!

  • Haha yeah I know what you mean, nothing wrong with a bit of madness every now and again.

  • okaii hey whats going on i think this video is so funny i love it lol well im new on youtube and stuff so i dont have any videos on and the one i am trying to put on lol has been taking a 1 and a half hours lol and its only aat 66% lol so yeahh

  • I have been applying your advice about say my lover after everything I say and have recieved very favorable responses! Thanks for sharing. Oh and if you haven't noticed, I got y channel name from your video.

  • Fantastic, spread the love lol.

  • Im from newton abbot and i don't know anyone who talks like that! It does sound rather bristol like tho.

  • tht does sound quite bristolish to me, but i aint heard devonshir so i wldnt no

  • I agree with baboon69pashley, it's very much a Bristolian accent he's producing, but in Exeter (where I'm from too) it the 'OI' sound he talks about isn't as strong.

  • He clearly doesn't know what he's talking about and has probably never been to Devon. The accent he is doing is partly accurate but it is a Bristol accent, which is not in Devon. Obviously there are some similarities but we don't speak like that. I'm from Exeter by the way.

  • Awesome.

  • Good video. It made me smile.

  • You should have your own TV show!!

  • kind of funny ^^

  • i s cant bloody belive u i s from the south of devon and im sick of every bloody one takin the piss sayin that wes all intelectualy inferier or watever lol it might be a bit funy for everyone else but for me and my fello devonshire mates its a bit ofendin but i do admit you really do sounds like me

  • In case I haven't made it clear I'm from Devon. It's all tongue in cheek. I don't really think people sound intellectually inferior just because of the way they speak.

  • Are you saying, because i have a Devonshire accent, that i'm thick? I have a degree in electronic engineering, cheeky f***. Your accent is rubbish

  • I am from devon/cornwall border. WE DO NOT TALK LIKE THAT.

  • Me to and I agree, we do not talk like that. you fail.

  • INNIT. LOL. we talk way different.

  • strangley enough i am actually performing in a play in about 2 weeks and i have to speak in a devon accent so thanks for this!

mouth drunk...ill just go on stage drunk ;)

  • lol u sound portsmouth

  • this video makes me laugh haha

  • We dont speak like that at all i come from devon and i DO NOT speak at all liike that WTF is oh roive..

    i say ah rive..

^^ where does this geeza come from to sayy oh roive

  • It sounds more like Bristol and Vicky Pollard.

Listen to Tony Beard on BBC Radio Devon and then you'll be fine.

  • intellectually inferior... lol

    pronounce lots of "r"s

and its the oldest accent in england!!

  • my girlfriend is from exeter she sound's soooooo fit lol moy dearrrrr ;)
