@chairmanphil Conway's 3rd MGM single, cut in Owen Bradley's Nashville 'Barn' with Twitty's pistol-hot backup trio: Blackie Preston, bass; Jack Nance, drums; Joe Lewis guitar; plus The Jordanaires or, and, any of many A-team/Nashville-cats so hip they "got work before they was three !" (In late '58, 17 y.o. hip Uxbridge-picker Big Jim Thompkins/Sullivan hadn't yet got his first 2-Is session, and 14 y.o Blackheath-pianist Albert Lee was just starting on guitar). Can't stop - Keep On Rockin.
Long before Conway turned to country music,he was a huge Rock"n"Roll idol, wearing very stylish two and three piece suits on stage,as we all did, he would start off soft and smooth, and end up belting out some of the greatest hits ever,he gave Elvis Presley a run for his money, the only other guy to ever do that was Ricky Nelson, and I should know, they were both my friends, and I miss them very much.Sincerely,The Original Chevelles.
I am a big Country fan, but I prefer his Rock n' Roll songs the best, I read somewhere when he went to Country Music, he wouldn't sing his Rock n' Roll songs, that was too bad for the audiences.
I told him that Mona Lisa was a song I jived too. He could not believe it, took me forever to find out who sang this version..Before computors.lol....
