  • I don't know why the audience wasn't that crazy so much in this show. And the camera doesn't pan over them.

  • @IceManNJD2 audience, what audience...

i don't think there is one

  • @smashwhammy yes. there is an audience. and i have proof. go to amnewsboy's channel and RetroVideoFan's channel. find the where in time is carmen sandiego intros and watch them. watch all of it!

  • This video is most popular with:

    Males 18-24, Males 13-17, and Males 25-34

    Just as I was expecting.

  • Did they show the Wgbh logo at the end?

  • @TheElevatorPlanet No, just that in credit logo at the very end after the copyright, that credits both WGBH and WQED.

  • Where's Rockapella?

  • @acebojanglesable They weren't in this show. They were replaced with the "Engine Crew".

  • I see at 0:36 that the kid managed to capture Carmen in this episode, even if he had to open the final gate manually (If you look closely from 0:45 to 0:51, you can see a weight at the end of the rope swaying slightly).

  • We're on the case and we're chasing her through history.

    Chronoskimmer, engines hot.

    V.I.L.E. villains, evil plot.

Our brave squadron leader will help us defeat her.

And bring back the loot to its rightful place in time.

Tell me, where in time is Carmen Sandiego.

Stop her crime and solve this mystery.

Tell me, where in time is Carmen Sandiego.

We're on the case and we're chasing her through history.

  • Was this on PBS back in the day?

  • @residentwriter I think you've just answered your own question dude. The show lasted two seasons on PBS, running from October 7, 1996 until October 2, 1998.

  • @RetroVideoFan lol, I couldn't quite remember. It's been awhile and I just wanted to double check. :)

  • @residentwriter Well, you're lucky you remember it. I only remember seeing the tail end of one episode once. I was only 5 years old when the show left the air.

  • @RetroVideoFan

You were just five when this show ended? Wow...well you're in luck because I have several episodes of this show which I taped about 15 years ago which I thought about posting on here eventually.

  • @TaurusWrangler When do you think you could post them? I'm eager to see more, since there are only a few episodes of this show on here.

  • @RetroVideoFan

Hmmm...probably in a couple of months, maybe less. I just gotta find the tape.

  • 1:17 How can historical information change?

  • @Vexillographer Simple, really. As new facts about the past come up, history can sometimes change quite a bit. I recall an episode of "Recess" that had a textbook so old it claimed it was impossible for man to ever reach the moon. As the blurry parts are clarified, the already-known details can change. That's how historical information can change.

  • @supercomputer276 I see. Thanks, that's quite interesting. :) Doesn't that mean that the previous unchanged history wasn't really history after all, though?

  • @Vexillographer Oh it was history, it was just history that's not as up-to-date as current history. At the time that textbook was made, man had not gone to the moon. It's not as accurate as current history, but it's still history.

...I have lost track of what I'm talking about. :)

  • @Vexillographer I don't know, but I know geographic information changed a few times while Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego was on.

  • I FEEL SOOO SAD I lost the computer game for it :'(

  • @XOMoonlightXO same, I had all the CS games even the crappy one based off the cartoon

  • @Fargosis16 LOL. Aww :( They should make a Where In Time is Carmen Sandiego game for windows X P & up

  • The captin is really Carmens boyfriend thats why whenever she gets caught theres still a new episode but then he died

  • somebody please make this an Mp3 file!!!!

  • Where in time are the good shows like this?

  • i'm afraid those times have passed...

  • You got the words right out of my mouth!

  • @agent001213 lost in time

  • @agent001213 Lost in the WGBH/WQED Archives

  • @agent001213 The 90s, the best decade for quality kid shows.

  • @gorrow1990 Would it make me cooler if I said the 90's was when I was born?

  • @agent001213 70's-90's

  • OMg...i watched this show when I was little. Brings back memories :)

  • @cstinia YA!

  • i miss this...

  • does anyone remember all the villians' names? i know jaclynn hyde, barron wasteland, and dr. belljar, who were the others

  • Villans' Names:

Jacqulline Hyde, Barron Wasteland [1st season], Buggs Zapper [2nd Season], Dr. Belljar, Mediva, and Sir Vile.

  • cool.

  • the computer game is amazing

  • Goddamn this song is cool. Great show from what I can remember as well.

  • I used to watch it, when I was a kid, like 14 years ago ahaha. but yea it wasnt half bad

  • Either way, I used to love this show.

  • RIP Lynne Thigpen

  • Maybe I was watching it on PBS, I mean, I was only like, 4 or 5. Good memories though.

  • For me, it was about 5-7. Still, this was the greatest Sunday morning show I have ever seen.

  • FalconKPD/ChickenLeg91/shadowriser22:

Instead of Rockapella singing about geography (as per the Where in the World predecessor), this is the sequel where the Engine Crew sings about history via time-travel. The only connections between the two shows would be that both aired on PBS during the 90's and both starred Lynne Thigpen as The Cheif of ACME CrimeNet.

  • One more connection...Sean Atlman (formerly of Rockapella) wrote both themes and the two Lee's are definately related.

  • omg, i remember this when i was like 5 years old, it randomly poped into my head now so i searched it i guess it was real haha

  • Wasn't this on Nickelodeon for a while?

  • Sure you're not confusing this with Space Cases? lol

  • I think they showed re-runs of this in the mid-late 90s.

  • NOPE

  • Huh... Well I have the memory of a 32 mb memory stick, so I can understand if I don't remember. Maybe it was PBS I was watching it on.

  • nope

  • R.I.P Old PBS Days 1990-2009.

  • I would say the old PBS days officially ended in 2001 at the very latest.

  • God I Miss This Show.

    R.I.P Old PBS Days 1990-2009.

  • i want to atch old tv show again like buffy g force captain planet xena and more good old memory

  • lol a lynx!

  • Is Howard Lee (supervising producer of Where in Time) related to Greg Lee (host of Where in the World)?

  • Wow, Interesting, I Didn't Know That.

  • i am not saying he is, i am asking whether or not he is

  • I had some episodes on tapes but I cant find it now!

  • Where In Time Is Carmen Sandiego? End Theme Part Machines

  • What about Carmen's journey through time?? (the announcer said "Carmen's journey through taaaaa" at the end.)

  • thevisual: The announcer was probably going to say, "Carmen's journey through time was brought to you by [sponsor list] and by Viewers Like You".

  • the announcer is the same guy who announced the Delta Airlines commercial on Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?

  • GameShowNetwork: I should've known.

  • When will Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego? be aired on GSN?

  • Suurender: We don't know when World or Time will air on GSN, if they do at all.

  • I hope GSN chooses to keep the funding credits and PBS logo on each episode.

  • You're not the only who wants that. I wish to see this on GSN in the near future. I loved this show back in the day.

  • Glad to hear it.

  • I don't know.

  • How come nobody has videos of the episodes? Do you have any to load up?

  • @ 0:59: Altman and Yazbek wrote this theme too?! Woah, didn't know that!

  • Isn't Sean Altman from Rockapella?

  • The very same.

  • The Engine Crew

  • Who sings this theme song?

  • Wow. Awesome.

    StefanoFan27.

  • Jacqueline Hyde was my favorite not Carmen person on the show. I'm so Carmen obsessed I still have all my games, even the board game.

  • i didnt know there were so many carmen sandiego fans. i thought i was the only person who watched this stuff

  • I used to watch this everyday after Wishbone.

  • me toooooo <33 i found wishbone and i'm watching it again =D i remember the episodes too

  • @gingerfear Why?

  • @gingerfear, Me Too.

  • I wish I could agree with that, but I don't remember watching much of this show. I watch "in the world" all the time. I wish they would put these on DVD. :(

  • omg this show was so kick ass back then lol

  • i remember watching this when i was little. Loved it:D

  • Villains for season 1 from left to right: 1st Sir Vile 2nd Barron Wasteland 3rd Jacqueline Hyde 4th Dr.Belljar 5th Medeva

  • Wow. Interesting.

    StefanoFan27.

  • Lynn Thigpen was awesome!

  • I wish she was still alive:(

  • She was the queen of Carmen Sandiego shows! We'll never forget you, Lynn! We miss you!

  • This song has been stuck periodically in my head since I was eight years old which is odd since i haven't seen the show since then...

  • Sean Altman wrote the theme song?!??!? *throws up* sorry i just find that hard to believe

  • q loquera

  • Dr Belljar looks different than I remember.

  • WHOO! Sweet sweet childhood memories!

  • I also agree. I wish they brought this show back. I liked the theme from 1997 better.

  • Btw, Dr. Belljar was my favorite villain.

  • Ok CAN YOU PLEASE UPLOAD THE ENTIRE EPISODE OR ATLEAST THE INTRODUTION WHERE SHE PICKS THE VILLIAN???????

  • Does anybody have the full theme for this, the 1996 version?

  • This was my FAVORITE show when I was five. Mediva (sp?) was my favorite villain, but at the same time, she scared the living shit outta me.

  • No, you spelled her name right. Don't you think those shows (both "Where in the World" and "Where in Time") should be brought back? They would need a new actress for the Chief, but these shows back and updated would be cool.

  • Someone actually thought that Omarosa should do it but I told that person "She's more likely to be the next Carmen Sandiego than be the new chief"

  • Oh God, Omarosa would never be respected as the Chief! No one can top Lynne Thigpen!!! May she RIP. <=(

  • Uh yeah I said the same thing to the person that suggested that

  • Just Where in the World and stuff will probably change like the monitor may be bigger, they may have new villains, and well let's hope they would bring back Rockapella (or some other decent acappella group)

  • where in the world is carman sandiego is better

  • can you upload some more where in time is carmen sandiego episodes for me

  • Sorry, that's all I've got.

  • I like this version better than season 2... =T

  • yeah i do too

  • yep this version of the theme song was the best and better then season 2

  • Why was the time pilot at the end wearing a helmet?

  • Because That Was The Final Round For The 1st Season.

  • Maybe from one of the challenges?

  • This episode was taped on August 2, 1996.

  • This Must Be The 5th Episode,Right?

  • THE FUTURE IS YOURS

  • what episode had the nintendo question?

  • Carmen's journey through time is propelled by The Corporation For Public Broadcasting, and by the annual financial support of

    Viewers Like You.

  • This was my freaking favorite show as a kid. The theme song was the best ever. Thanks for bringing up great memories.

BTW, im pretty sure only 1 kid in the history of the show actualy caught Carmen Sandiego...if memory serves right.

  • No there were more

  • if we only know if someone upload the episode of were in time is carmen sandiago

  • i ask because i could not tell whether the orb in the center of the podium was lit or not. (if it was then you would know that the player did capture her.)

  • Yes he hid. If the capture crystal was on that podium it means that contestant captured carmen if not it remained at its energizing podium.

  • did the kid in this particular episode actually win the computer?

  • No idea, all I've got are the themes.

  • That's a pity, I was hoping to get a full episode of the French Canadian version of Carmen Sandiego.

  • yes

  • meaning he did?

  • were their any challenges on witics

  • This is dim432 speking for witics and remember time is not on your side, but carmen is not

  • with all due respact, that made no sense at all.

  • What dim432 is saying is NOTHING is on your side and the whole world is against you. ;-;

  • Oh, I remember this show pretty well. When it was on I found it kind of boring, but know that I'm older I now feign mroe interest.

  • Huh, this will probably be the strangest comment in YouTube history, but, havint not seen the ending level of WITICS since I was 5, I'm just now noticing how much it reminds me of Final Fantasy X....

Seriously, you've got all these doorways, some look ancient others look advanced. Anybody else think so?

  • I don't know that much about Final Fantasy, Phantom, but this is a real nostalgic trip for me. I haven't seen this show since I was five/six and I loved coming home every day from first grade to watch it.

By the way, Phantom, guess who I am.

  • *gasp* YOU'RE CARMEN SAN DIEGO, AREN'T YOU.

  • Here is what I remember about the end game, if the contestant captured Carmen, she would be sucked into that orb looking thing at the beginning of the end theme. If the contestant didn't capture Carmen, she would vaporize into thin air.

  • Yeah,I Hope Everybody Gotta Beat Carmen Sandiego

  • I actually miss this show...it was a decent replacement for the World show for a while.

  • The day that this show replaced WITWICS was a sad, sad day.
