This is pretty sweet video and I think im def going to try to black out mine to look like how yours started, but how durable or fade resistant is this? With car washes over time ect? Can you still wash the rims or will the paint just come off?
It really depends on what paint you will be using. Also I only show the first coat. You will need about 3-4 to be durable and even a coat a clear if you really want it to last. Mine has held up for the past 3 years with many track days.
Yeah, I've been rattle canning things for several years though. I would get some practice before you try what I did lol. Just make sure your easy on the spray finger. If the paint runs it's really hard to correct and takes quite some time to fix/correct.
If you need any tips with anything you can simply comment again so others can see my responses so they won't have to ask again.
Well, I don't endorse car trends like neon rims.. but first coat is a base coat. you should wait overnight for it to cure and dry. Then 2-3 more coats then clear if you want to. I simply do 2 coats 30 minutes apart and no clear coat. But I'm cheap and don't care about it being super pro or expensive.
My paint has neither faded or ran away from me and it's been about a year. I didn't sand my rims so no you don't have to but I would suggest it.
I ran these for several drift even and I haven't even got rock chips in them yet so I guess it all depends on how gangster you spray it. If you have any more questions you can contact Mr Raisin Toast or simply comment again.
bro youre a pro o.0 i went to a auto paint tech school and i HAVE to tape the edges i dont want paint on but you what the hell you paint it without getting paint on the lips , good job
doesnt matter how accurate your spraying is, paint particles are floating around, and if something isnt covered up that SHOULD be, its going to get paint on it no matter what
Yes, that is the definition of over spray. However it is so minimal I really didn't care. If you do care or are new to painting and worried about being inaccurate then I suggest covering up the parts you don't want paint on. :) Thanks for the input/insight.
Yep. But as you can see I'm pretty dead on accurate with my sprays so there was no over spray onto the lip/tire. But there was a lot on the floor of my garage lol

Correction, I'm using Krylon brand paint in this video.

HarperM22 1 year ago
@HarperM22
I would have to disagree. I drift constantly on all my rims and they never flake. They might get rock chips depending on which track I go to though.
