I haven't played this, but I played a little of the original, and I assume something similar happened here. In the original, the first player character was shot, but fell into a river of red water which replaced his blood and kept him alive. Something similar MAY have happened here, but I can't say for sure since I haven't played this one.

the reason they don't see the flashlight is because the shibito see "Day" in there vision, always. it's not dark to them. of course, since your character can't see in the dark, you're gonna need a flashlight! xD lol
