@gangstor123 the plane files a flight plan and it departs a certain time and follows a route that the controller tracks on radar or visually in the tower, and its ok if the plane doesn't stay on the flight plan exactly thats just what was planned.. the controller can make adjustments for traffic/weather/turbulence.. or whatever. the flight plan is so relieve traffic at the air ports departing or arriving.

I was a controller for almost 10 years (and I actually worked with Todd @ 1:00 before, at LA Center!) but the job is not stressful or hard at all. Everything's proceduralized to the point of boredom, and you are trained over and over until it's all routine. It's the kind of job you just show up and deal with whatever's happening that day and then go home and forget about it. Pay is really good ($100K+) but the downside is most facilities are currently understaffed and have mandatory overtime.
@vdhhk What's the pay like? And I thought it was one of the most stressful high paced jobs out there. I came on here wanting to see vids representing such. Yet, it all seems very calm on the surface :(
Hi man, how are you? hope you are doing fine. Would you kindly tell me, what do you need to do to be an ATC? do you need to go to collage 3-4 years. or there are course just like Pilots go through to be become certified? would appreciate the help, and thanx in advance.
Verry stressful, im from Long Island and my father is a pilot for NWA/Delta he tried to get me into it but took up EMS instead about 80k pay cut but$ isnt everything. Depends on where you are JFK Laguardia and Newark are all in a small vicinity, it gets to be crazy i hear, Any one intrested i suggest to pursue, look up a school in PA i hear its one of the best to go to for ATC. Also maybe look into USAF and Navy both have their own ATC, which will pay for training/education. Hope that helps any1
@SaLTLiFe4TL heck ya man, thats where i went, community college of beaver county in pa, it near pittsburgh, great school, great career, love what im doing
I know a little about air traffic control. My boyfriend is studying in college to become a controller. He tells me alot about it and it is very complex but if you are good at multitasking you are set.

I like it how he says that the US accounts for 70% of all worldwide airline traffic *with pride*, like that's a good thing! Different times. At least people are starting to realize how bad the environment is faring from all these extravaganza habits.
Actually, the Airline industry accounts for 4% of the total CO2 emissions each year. You can thank the coal industry and car industry for greenhouse gas emissions.
You need to grow up. The environment is unimportant when the commercial practices of a nation are concerned. Unfortunately, CO2 emissions are something you'll have to just deal with, because your tiny group of vegan radicals isn't large enough to draw attention or gain influence. Global warming is as hyped up as the H1N1 virus. This modern world would never be sustained if it weren't for aviation, so go masticate some cauliflower and end your campaign of baseless propaganda.
""Control does not equal majority enough to pass a bill, if you had payed attention in high school civics you'd know that.""
Ever heard of fillibuster...or perhaps cloture vote?
Getting back to the FAA issue.....you've got no idea what they have done to hurt/hinder progress. Because the keep spewing "Safety was never compromised" *really* doesn't make it true. Unless of course you're a drone who prefers fantasy world (McCain/Bush) instead of reality.
Like, "The fundamentals of the economy are sound."?
Funny, you don't mention how the Repub's have been in control of the White House (8 years), Congress (10.5 of 12 years) and Senate (10.5 of 12 years). Sooooooo, all of this time and they couldn't "fix" anything?
Guzzle away Special K.
As for a profile, I'm secure enough to actually go out and meet people face to face; not hide behind some fancy personna I created in my basement while playing with myself.
No, they are not out to get you. Look at all the great things they have done for you, the housing market, the economy, and jobs. They know what they are doing.
And it seems obvious morons like you will continue to let them.
Drinkin' that Kool-Aid. Just don't forget the creamy white stuff floating in it that was hand churned by our illustrious leader and his co-horts. But then again, you probably like that. if you're gonna swallow some of it, you might as well swallow it all.
Get the REAL story of the PATCO Strike of 1981. Read my book, "Forgotten Heroes of the Sky PART 1. .Read my story below.
While on You Tube search for AyXjdxtZPS0 It is about 911 and ATC. Very Informative..
Or go to air-traffic-controller and then type dot (.) org

How does a controller like guide a plane to it's destination, how does the controller know where that is, i'm so confused...
gangstor123 1 year ago
@gangstor123 They use flight strips, which are much like the strips that Domino's Pizza uses to get a pizza to your door. Tells everything!
