  • why is Montag Russian?

  • @frankheninja1 he is american..

  • So much wrong with this film, but at least the spoken words are mostly right.

  • Its always been a huge dream of mine to direct a remake of this movie. This book is my favorite and #1 of all time in my heart.

  • Check out the Flat Screen on the wall!

  • any one else notice Clarisse and Montags wife are played by the same chick??

  • Booooooooooo!!!!

  • this was an atrocious excuse for cinema, the book was so much better

  • yeah huh! clarisse looks like 30.... O.o but looks intresting

  • Isn't it kind of ironic that they would make a movie about this particular book? lol

  • Can someone please tell me the name of the actor/character that is always like seeing what Montag is doing/stalking him haha?

  • I don't know how this has any likes . . it's terrible

  • this is a bastardization of a fantastic book . . disgusting

  • What's that music?

  • Oh gosh this needs a remake

  • Ugh, please, stop with the remakes. In 99 out of 100 cases, they utterly fail to capture the spirit of the original as they are trying to appeal to a different audience. An audience that values senseless action and lensflares far more than thought-provoking material that has them use their brains for more than processing images.

Not that I don't like my fair share of senseless action. But everything has its place.

  • @Sinvey I'm as sick of remakes as the next person but I WANT to see Fahrenheit 451 remade. I truly believe the people who want to be behind this project have the right idea in mind, you can tell they must because Frank Darabont CAN'T get a green light because everybody agrees it's the best story they ever heard, BUT they can't figure out how they're going to market it to 13 year olds. That is their biggest concern, and if they were going to cheapen the story that wouldn't be a problem.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 Well ... I guess it might be worth a try. Worst case I'd simply not be watching it. But who knows, it could be that "1 in a 100". :P

  • This is an excellent summary. Brilliant song.

For those who are laughing at the "old fashion" style I just laugh back. This was not a Hollywood movie. The spirit of the book persists in this movie. The remake will ruin it, but ahh...you will see some true action, right?

  • That's the US todays reality burning books in universities

  • Please tell me, why British actors? The book was written by a guy from Waukegan, Illinois about an unspecified town in America, so why is this in Britain?!

  • @eatsleepmetallica yes we know who Mr Bradbury is, F451 was a European production (Germany/France/UK) with a French director and an international cast (Irish, English, German), probably because no-one in the US wanted to make it. Remember, there have been countless of books such as War of the Worlds, Crash, Brave New World, Heart of Darkness (Apocalypse Now), Jack's Return Home (Get Carter), High Fidelity etc that have been transposed to an American setting from the original story.

  • This looks like I would at least get a decent laugh out of it.

  • Ever since I've read the book... well basically, ever since I've known of this story. It's been haunting, me...

I reflect on many things in the real society, such as texting, and even me being on Youtube right now. It has relations with this story. =/

  • 3:02 "You're nothing but zombies all of you, just like this husband of yours, you don't even know anymore. You're not living, you're just killing time". Kind of rings true these days, with this x-factor, American Idol etc rubbish on T.V. and the people who watch it.

  • Silly cops are silly. xD

  • I'm debating how ironic a new film version of this book would be.

  • @YorkJonhson Me too... me too

  • Jetpack scene, best part ever~!

  • @maizeandblueheart But not in the book at all.

  • @maizeandblueheart But not in the book at all.

  • Why Clarisse looks so old? I thought she was just a 16 year old girl? Oh, and where's the mechanical hound?

  • @MArjona028 17 (and crazy)

  • @MArjona028 movies made from books are NEVER like the books

  • @MArjona028 17 actually but i agree

  • This is Excellent! ~ You really captured the essence of this movie. Thumbs up!

  • a book about burning books...

  • Whats with the accents?

  • @Vegemighty To remind you of the Nazi's.

  • Save the books. Burn the critics. Oh wait, that makes me a critic of critics. Nevermind.

  • I'm all for a remake, as long as it's not a CRAPPY remake.

  • what song are you using

  • I don't want to be this 'guy' but... does anyone know the name of the song being played in the background?

  • hmm the year 1992 looks more futuristic than this

  • If you read F451 in school don't be afraid to read it again. I was in 7th grade and had no comprehension of drug overdoses, professors, bombs and manslaughter. Not exactly normal subjects of conversation in a conservative suburban town of the 1980s.

  • @jxhensley Sure is nowadays.

  • what's wrong with a world where the government has total control over the sheeple so long as they are provided everything they need? i mean wt f, we give up our freedom and guns, they provide everything we need and we live happily ever after.

  • @leofandersoniii are you being sarcastic o_o???!

  • I thought the book sucked.. But this...

  • THE BOOK IS SOOOOO MUCH BETTER!!!!!

  • @MrrSGamingNation They're always better

  • @MrrSGamingNation But books were forbidden :)

  • This book is absolutely amazing and so relevant to what is going on today. Ray Bradbury told the future with this one.

  • Wow...................

Thts wut he thout 1999 was supposed to look lik haha

  • wow my imagination looks way better than this.

  • @LegendaryxEyes wwHAT A CcATCH 22!! D:

  • I must say, this looks ridiculous. I'd rather just stick to the book.

  • The actor playing Clarisse is pretty but she does not look like a 17 year old

  • no hound?

  • Clarisse and Montag!

  • Because people are fucking fickle and undisciplined and love a fucking gimmick, future firefighters won't have to burn books. The chief will only have to push a button and kill all the Kindles.

  • @Ariel62073 Amazon will be pissed.

  • @PossiblyAsian Perhaps Amazon is the chief.

  • equilibrium reminds me of this movie somehow.. or rather the book. i think they might have borrowed a few things...

  • @mkzhero Equilibrium was influenced by the dystopian ideas in Fahrenheit 451, 1984, and Brave New World. underrated movie :)

  • @belatedconformr I never said it was related i said "it reminds me of". and now that you told me i also know why. yay x2

  • @WhiteKitsuneSpirit cuz movies mostly are made by morons who ruin them

  • Oh my gosh. Such a bad adaption... In my opinion they would have been a thousand times better off trying for a better atmosphere, and actually paying attention to the character descriptions in the book (Montag is supposed to be dark-haired, bushy eyebrows, heavy brow I think). This looks ridiculous haha

  • Equilibrium

  • You cant' fire me! I fire you!

  • damn im reading this book in literature lesson...

  • The difference between reality and the movie is that people are voluntarily giving up books, for all of the new toys produced in the world. A more clever idea. Sell things to people that will make them throw away their books, and make a profit, instead of spending the money to turn the fire department into TSA officers.

  • A GREAT movie.... Really underrated

  • Happy Birthday Mr Bradbury ....

  • when in the book it said the 4th wall was it really a forth wall or a metaphor for something else?

  • @emoloopy13 i think it was an actual fourth wall. it meant of how boxed in society was. surround by items yet still being empty

  • @emoloopy13

It was really a 4th wall.

  • Remake is definitely in order, Hollywood loves to remake movies, I mean they're remaking Logans Run right now, they should give this one a try.

  • @pics4roisin They've been trying to get Fahrenheit 451 remade for about 15 years. Last year it was said the director can't get anybody who'll greenlight it even though everybody agrees it's an amazing story, but get this, they can't make it because they can't figure out how to market it to 13 year olds, what the hell?

  • @pics4roisin there is a remake coming out in 2012!

  • @pics4roisin Nah that goes against the NWO's Idea of control. Never take my word for it investigate it your self The NDAA of 2011 and the SOPA act. Do your own research. Less we burn all the books.

  • this book is shockingly accurate with what occurs today. obviously not the whole book burning idea but the fact that society is falling back on itself.

  • @cudi1is3god That is a very great irony and very tragic. If you ask people 'is our society like Fahrenheit 451?' most people will say we are not because we don't burn books, thank you for making it clear you never read the book, you know? SO much stuff Ray Bradbury predicted about 60 years ago that IS going on today, the pills, the TV shows with no plot, tuning into ear seashells all the time, driving fast and hitting animals and killing each other for fun, VERY much like society today.

  • Watch Equilibrium,more modern,same synopsis,

  • If only i would have heard of the movie before i started reading the book for my school assignment.

  • @KornfeldMan The movie has a lot of differences with the book.

  • @KornfeldMan exactly i found out about the movie the day i finished the book for school

  • They need to make a modern adaption of this. I own this book and am in the process of reading it. It's a good book. This adaption of it looks like it's worth of watch, but it be nice if they made an actual Hollywood adaption of it.

  • good

  • This was a really good book! I loved it! :)

  • the only reason i looked this up is because i have to read it for school and i dont fill like reading

  • @MrMrmagoo34

    *facepalm*

This whole book is a put-down on people like you.

  • @AnotherSchmoe Just think now i dont have to read anymore cuz i have all the things i need so HA to you my friend!

  • @MrMrmagoo34

Everything except a fully functioning mind.

  • @AnotherSchmoe To bad i do you old ball sack

  • @MrMrmagoo34

Your comments so far seem to indicate otherwise.

  • @AnotherSchmoe why dont you stop messaging me you old ass wipe and go read some more

  • @MrMrmagoo34 You are the perfect example of the sort of people in this society. By the way, good luck with that. Most of the movie doesn't match up with the book. Therefore you're screwed. Read the book, culture your brain.

  • @mentalsupernova I dont need too anymore and too bad i do already am done with this so dont try to prove anything

  • this cant be it, clarrise is suppsoed to be younger, and thigns just look wierd

  • Anyone notice Plasma or LCD TV at 03:04... (i know its not but movies write future 1966)

  • I don't know why, but Radiohead's "OK Computer" would be a fantastic soundtrack to this film.

  • I would love to make a new version

  • Nowadays there are other ways to kill knowledge and they are more effectives than fire

  • They should make a new Fahrenheit 451. Thumbs up if you agree!

  • Comment removed

  • and with no plot changes to the book

  • Wonderful music - who is it??

  • LMFAO this book is supposed to be in the future but it seems like the past cuz the movie is so old hahah xD

  • i dont get the book.....its confusing for me but i have to read it for my summer homework :"( im only on page 58 n im already bored of it :( no action

  • @Nator911 i have to read it for summer homework to and it is confusing and no action happens

  • @illusionmaster971

Its Sc-Fi. Books don't need action to be great. To me, it seems more philosophical on a how an Utopia would look like.

  • @Nator911 me too its kinda lame

  • @Nator911 me too kinda lame

  • I don't think there should be a movie for this book based, in the book you should feel guilt for this society of lack of reading from books

  • This sucks..dick. I wish they had a newer version of it XC

  • They need to make a modern film based on this book.

  • latos44: Clarisse is supposed to be a little younger but Julie Christie so impressed the director François Truffaut that he could not choose otherwise. She is great in the dual role as wife and friend?

  • If this isn't art at it's greatest. An innovative, life-shaping book made into a surreal film masterpiece. And a film score so beautiful by Bernard Herrmann who worked on "Psycho" and "The day The Earth Stood Still". A must read and a must see!

  • This book sucked

  • @sullygirl11

What?? Not enough good looking emo vampires in it??

Hello troll or hello idiot. Now, let's hope for your own sake it's the former.

  • I remember reading this book in 8th grade, I thought it was so boring but I realize now that it was actually a really good book

  • 1:27 looks familiar anyone?

  • Their acting positively sucks

  • The book is much better than the movie, the director didnt even put some of the best scenes in the movie

  • the book is to short to be put into a movie HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE

  • Isn't the fact that this particular book is a movie a bit of an oxymoron?

  • @GloryZombie its not the books that are important, its what is in them.

movies are not legal in farenheit 451 either, because they can have the same message as a book. the television programs were all about spectacle, not storyline.

i have heard in fact that ray bradbury loves movies.

the problem with this movie is that it is really cheesy, unlike the novel.

  • @TheEnviroFriend Well yes I understand that. I'm just glad that I never saw the movie, I love the book though.

  • @GloryZombie It's actually a bit fitting, the beginning credits are read out loud instead of being shown on screen, as most things are done in that society.

  • Fahrenheit 451 is happening in Australia - read the article, Truth stranger than fiction as uni pulps books, on the smh.com.au website.

  • We have to read this book in school right now. Just my opinion, I don't really like this book. It is just starting to make since to me now. We are at the part where Montag just killed Beatty.

  • @RKOlover13 Please do read it... then re read it if need be. It makes a statement that needs to be heard especially in today's times. :)

  • did you notice he picked up hitler's book?

  • The film was amazing! I would hate to live in a world where we can;t read any books.

  • Montag looks about 60 and Clarisse looks about 30, what is going on?

  • Does anyone else think of how close Ray Bradbury was to this future....think about it.

  • @WiggleTick I know, right? I find that very fascinating.

  • @SUPERyoshi95 Its so creepy....like,We have the shells/Headphones,3 walled T.V/Plasma or 3d T.v,

People Singing Commercials/Annoying Comercials lol, It's just so close and weird lol...The movie is way differnet from the book though...And Clarise Looks Like shes 30...Lol

  • @WiggleTick Exactly! It's so accurate. I get the chills just thinking about it lol

  • WHAT SONG IS THIS?

  • @FunkSoulBrothaa It's a remix by Jacknife Lee of the song Ave María by Perri Alleyne(from the movie 28 days later)

  • Did you notice for someone who hated books so much and destroyed them (the captain that is), he certainly knew what was in them, what they represented, and what they were about. Strange.

  • @daytraderfbf the captain used to read loads, but he got disillusioned with books and used his knowledge for evil

  • I see a Jetpack but I don't remember one.. Where's the Mechanical Hound D:

  • The University of Copenhagen are preparing to burn more than 70.000 books because of lack of space ...

    politiken.dk/kultur/boger/ECE1255426/universitet-braender-tusindvis-af-boeger/

    Can you believe it...?

  • theyr suppose to be American???? and... just lmao

  • @rowan729 You need to read the background behind the movie. Check wikipedia and read about the director and the making of the film.

  • Drop the book ! or we'll fire :p

  • Just finished the book. The ideas in it are brilliant, prophetic and disturbing, but the actual prose is largely poor, clunky and not much of a pleasure to read.

  • @lontok11 Then you are an idiot.

  • @MasterJediDude

Eloquent riposte there, I must say. Those who harbour differing opinions to your own are by default idiots? A finely argued defence! The prose of Farenheit 451 is full of redundant repetition, clumsy adverbial phrases, wooden dialogue and torturous phrasing. Only in the final pages, when Bradbury describes the bombing of the city, does it achieve any poetic finesse. As dystopian literature, despite the brilliant premise, it doesn't come close to 1984 or the Handmaid's Tale.

  • @lontok11 La-de-fucking-da, douche.

  • @MasterJediDude

    :-) Brilliant!!

  • @lontok11 My apologies. I must have been in a bad mood when I wrote that.

  • @MasterJediDude

No worries! These things happen online :-)

  • The book was the best!

  • @finaldeathride Yeah, actually I´m working on it with my students in the Spanish literature class. Greetings from Mexico!! =D

  • is it true that the movie sucks and the book was better?

  • @ReaperHei They are SO different. I love the film, the book, the film score, Truffaut, Herrmann, and Bradbury. But, honestly? If they finally announced a new version of the film? I'd be all for it. They've been trying to do one for almost 20 years with Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Tom Hanks interested in starring. Oddly enough, wacky ol' Mel Gibson pointed out a problem with a story set in the future: in a world of computers would burning books be a viable plot device?

  • This book is probably one of the best ones written in and for a very very long time. Very predicting and true.

  • What's the music?

  • Such a shit movie

  • I wonder how many books they had to burn to make this movie

  • horrible movie!

  • I havent finished the book...and idk when i read the book and think of Montag....i just think of a hot buff guy w/ greaser hair...o.o is tht weird? haha it prob. is but oh well w/e makes the book more interesting and i do hope they remake it!...its also confusing w/ all those metaphors and when they repeat the words to much..

  • epic movie!

  • the book is better

  • If ever a film should be re-made it's this one! It looks terrible.

  • we've read the novel in english lesson and watched the movie afterwards. somehow a funny adaption, several things were changed, but i think the main part is still obviously: montag's development.

    like it :)

yes, clarisse should be 16 years old, but it's the same actress as linda/mildred.

  • my epiic version

    /watch?v=wUmIG56OfCs

  • CLarisse has gained a few years. lol

  • is the movie really bad i heard my teacher said the movie is really bad

  • i read the book in high school and wanted to see the movie trailer

  • is that a korean book at 3:26?

  • Clarisse looks old isnt she suppose to be like young 16?
