  • You should do a video of the part you play in Desperate Living. Heck, do the whole song!

  • more please Jon! more!

  • Pretty impressive. Overpowers the melody in some parts, but overall, a very refreshing and skilled performance.

  • Jon Karel is, in my eyes, one of the most talented and most inspring artist alive!

I wonder what happened to my favourit Youtube video: Jon Karel Drum Clinic.... is it just down in Germany or all together off Youtube?

  • this is a preview for a NEW NUMBER TWELVE SONG ZOMG!

  • stoked on how many views this got, jon deserves all the credit he gets.

  • very very nice.

  • JON KAREL, BEFORE I DIE I MUST MEET YOU, you're my lifetime inspiration. i adore you, (; keep on rockin' .

  • jon karel is so underrated. I'll listen to any band he's in, always. long live #12llu

  • The number 12 looks like you always did have a very jazzy feel to it. Now I can see why. Jon karel is so damn brilliant. He's unreall in horse the band to. Especial at the end of "I think were both suffering from the same metaphysical crisis". Amazing drummerrrrrrrrr. God have my kids pleassseeee. You can fuck my wife If my babys come out like you.

  • @WarwickBlood777 yeah he only toured with horse the band chris prophet did i think were both suffering

  • That is some impressive drumming considering the tune choice.

  • damn that double bass rules.

  • Just beautiful Jon, more videos!! please :D

  • that blast beat right through that verse ( or whatever it was ) was outrageous ... i literally LOL

  • Great idea, gonna have to try something like that myself..

  • I wish Jon had more youtube videos up. He's bed one of my main inspirations since I started drumming a few years ago.

  • jon? do you want to play in my band? ;D

  • please try to drum to vivaldi. if you manage to drum to classical music, you truly are a god

  • @91DevilDriver91 imagine him rocking out to Stravinsky. That's The Number #12 Looks Like You except a century earlier.

  • This is amazing.

  • LOL why is everybody jizzing over the frying pan bell so hard? Shouldn't we be jizzing because he's the best drummer alive by far?

  • 6 people are jealous of his Zildjian frying pan bell.

  • It's always number twelve time in my heart.

  • WE MISS YOU JON.

  • its ok guys. i almost hit dislike since i had my eyes closed becuase this music is sooooo soothing. but alas. my love for jons music awoke me and i realized that would be bad.

    it happens.

    jon rules.

    ppl jelly

    i eat jelly

  • @st00pidp0ckets this man can keep better time then you staring at a watch holding a metronome.

  • @BingingDiet ...all that while he's even keeping time for you. Not possible to beat him. :o

  • the beats were to cover up the tempo change. It's a simple cover up used from back in the day.

  • He would be the best drummer ever if he could figure out how to keep time, but because he can't keep time, the fact that he can play drums so fast doesn't mean shit. he's not a good drummer at all

  • @st00pidp0ckets I think your listening to the wrong metronome Sir. I don't think he was trying to play as fast as he can in this song. He was just adding his own heavy metal taste within the context of the song. The man can groove and he is a very versatile drummer. maybe you can chill out and go get yourself checked out. thank you, have a nice day =)

  • @MVPlantern I was referring to his other videos. I respect that he can play fast but he doesn't need to sugarcoat everything. It doesn't work

  • @MVPlantern I was referring to his other videos. I respect that he can play fast but he doesn't need to sugarcoat everything. It doesn't work

  • @st00pidp0ckets sugarcoat? i dont think he's doing the blast beats intentionally to screw up the song. Plus blast beats were first used in jazz and he's using in a jazz form with taste. Keep time? i dont think he has problem keeping time. I'm pretty sure he's played in many mathcore bands which deal with many odd time signatures. He's on time thats for sure. If he wasnt on time, he would be another fast drummer. Due to your lack of visual display. Your probally imagining a different video.

  • @st00pidp0ckets Where did he get off time? I didnt see it. Plus I dont know what your talking about with his speed, that part of your comment totally confused me. He wasnt blasting the whole time. Put up a video of yourself playing anything close to as good as this on drums and I'll shut up but theres nothing on your page

  • @tyleracampora I was referring to his other videos, he doesn't stay on time in any of his other videos. I've already admitted that I can't play as fast as him, but at least I can keep time when I play.

  • @st00pidp0ckets Well two things then, I havent watched his other videos and I will now, but if thats the case why not say this on a video that gets off? Plus I'd like to see some of your videos. I'm sure your not bad but this guy is just so good.

  • @st00pidp0ckets You think he's off but really you're just not understanding the time signature Jon is playing.. He's an odd time signature genius.

  • @st00pidp0ckets congratulations on posting the stupidest, most unintelligent comment i've ever seen on youtube!

  • @penguinsauce87 Alright, here is how everything goes. This isn't just MY account, it's my friend's account too. My friend posted the stupid comment. Jon Karel is incredible in The Number 12 Looks Like You and in this video too. He's incredible. But in Sawtooth Grin, the drums don't fit at all. Clearly he's one of the greatest drummers around, but my friend was basing his opinion off of his videos with Sawtooth Grin. Sorry for all the rage guys lol

  • @st00pidp0ckets i think i can solve your problem. you are rhythmicaly challenged, you dont understand his, or probably alot of drummers talent enough to even notice how incredibly places each note is...

  • @myfreakinchannel I already posted my apology, that was my friend that posted that, just relax. My friend's retarded, this guy's awesome. His stuff with Sawtooth Grin sucks really bad, but his stuff with The Number 12 Looks Like You is amazing. This guys is one of my favorite drummers because he combines metal and jazz drumming, I've never seen anybody else do this. Enough with the comments EVERYONE, ok?

  • @st00pidp0ckets LMAO another moron who can't understand the beauty in the music theory behind the grin. by the way you should hit your friend in the balls spit on him and not be his friend anymore.

  • @st00pidp0ckets AHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAH HHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH! LMAOOO ROFLLLL YOU'RE FUCKING RETARDEDDDDD

  • what ride is that? k custom dry?

  • wtf? who would dislike this?

do they not have ears, or something?

  • I can not find a discography on these guys. Can you name some albums?

  • anyone know if he has any new projects?

  • DAT SNARE

  • Where can I get one of those giant bells? haha

  • @Adbyrd6263 It's actually a frying pan lol

  • @kr3w0804 hahaha

  • What hats are those? They sound amazing.

  • @kr3w0804 I think they are Zildjian K Customs.

    ~keep the beat~

  • @kr3w0804 zildjian k custom hybrid 14.25'

  • where the hell have you been jon

  • Can someone tell me what the bell under his hihat is? please?!?!!?

  • @TheArtOfCreationBand its not a bell, its a frying pan turned upside down

  • Comment removed

  • Jon, please create a side project like this with an accordion, piano and some other different instruments. I think that would be fucking amazing.

  • holy fuck

  • Hey Jon, what is the hand technique you use at 2:29?

  • @rockjonesstonesmith You basically flick your pinkie and ring finger on your sticks back end and make it bounce over and over. Takes some practice.

  • @rockjonesstonesmith That is a blast beat. It's a very slow and elongated version of the "Flying Finger Technique". He's just putting more wrist into it.

  • I wish I was as cool as Jon Karel

  • 3 people who saw this obviously hav shit in their ears.

  • Amazi8ng!!!! What can I say???

  • all hail the frying pan : D

  • 1:28-138 masturbating not a problem :)

  • If I could take lessons from you I would die a little inside. Even seeing a drum clinic. You are my favourite for life. <3

  • @1:18 I cracked a huge smile! This adaptation is just so wonderfully constructed and blends seamlessly with the original track; but who could expect less from a natural like Jon?

  • this is probably the most inspirational drum vids i've ever seen. its beautiful complex and sexy drumming. its inspiring

  • You are god.

  • @Tonemanj tony XD i have found you

  • @ishomodin anthony? xDD

  • @Tonemanj yes XDD

  • You are god.

  • You are amazing and I want your drum set.

  • does anyone know what cymbal he's using that's underneath the hihat?

    it sounds great

  • Comment removed

  • @drownhope It's a 9.5 inch Zil bell. And it sounds SOOOOO sexy

  • 322 people wants to see you back in Number 12.

  • WHAT THE FUCKEAYIDGUSVGUYSGDSF 1:28

  • what a fucking genius.

  • Does anyone have an idea of how to mount a pan to a drumset, as seen in this video? I'm sitting at my kit right now and the best I can come with is to hire someone to hold it for me...stumped here. Any help would be greatly appreciated :]

  • @davidoh14 drill a small hole in the bottom on the far side and using rubber stoppers and those felt pad thingys you can mount it on a small cymbal stand...."my interpretation"

  • I noticed a painting and posting having to do with color. Do you paint?

  • wow he really deserves the applause :D pure skills

  • Sick, dude!

  • holllyy shit. Amazing!

  • Bring on the baby gravy.

  • @sc0ttprian art IS non restrictive

  • i still can't get over that blast. OR the frying pan. :)

  • 2 people were jealous as fuck

  • everytime i hear this it puts my soul at ease..

  • man i love you jon.

  • ah geez. so beautiful. i have been inspired to be like a hundred billion times better at the drums now. this is the best thing i have heard on drums in like a long time ha. awesome!

  • Don't you feel you overplayed the part just a bit????? If you want to show off your great chops, do it with a better selection!!!! I don't think the tango band would appreciate the thunder and lightening in your playing...

  • @hummjob art is a non restrictive field in my opinion.. as intense as this is.. haha

  • @hummjob well the tango band doesn't have to listen : )

  • in the drumming, there are no rules, you prove it jon =)

    thank you ;-)

  • an asshole is the only one who could have marked this video thumbs down...how can such an idiot person exist in this world???

  • Loving your incorporation of Metal chops (blast beats & kick ruff's etc) in this Latin/Jazz Tango stuff. So awesome. I'm trying to develop this kind of control too and it's a long road.

  • how did someone dislike this? seriously? what is wrong with some people?

  • I've never really enjoyed just listening to just drums but you good sir make it very amazing

  • damn he just threw in those blast beats yet they were tastefully done well played sir, WELL PLAYED

  • Please tell me you are in a new band....

  • @YEAHbrother112 He's currently in The Sawtooth Grin I believe.

  • This was pure art at it's finest just beautiful art

  • what ride is that?

  • @gerben106 Looks like some sort of a dry K ride.

  • great job guy ; )

  • Epic! And your cymbals sound incredible!

  • Absolutely beautiful, great job. I love how your drums articulate your thoughts and emotion, its surreal.

  • @mastermind0511 I agree with you on Mr Karel, being quite an awe inspiring musician. With such musicality and technique fused so flawlessly. But one thing you learn being a musician, is that no one is better than anyone; everyone is the same, some just practiced more. I personally have only been drumming for a short period of time, but my musical history goes back long, with a lot of family being musicians. =D PS: I gib you tumbs up! =p

  • were you part of the intensus project?

  • I wish I could download this song.

  • I love Jon Karel!

  • I agree, such a solo album would be awesome!

  • Unreasonably beautiful, as usual.

    <3

  • Should make a solo album of stuff like this.

  • I would love to see some people actually tango to this tune, with the drum track performed by Jon. That would be interesting. Love to see what they'd do during the blast beats. Just can't get over that.......blast beating a frickin' tango song. They oughta put you in an insane asylum Jon!!!!! In a good way........lol

  • whats the bell sounding cymbal below your hi-hats. by the way you are my all time favorite drummer, i love your style and ability to play most anything.

  • What impresses me the most isn't how fast or how groovy you can play. They are a bunch of drummers around that can play fast. But making a blast beat sound pertinent on that tune, that's simply amazing!

  • The reincarnated Jon Bonham! I don't play drums, I play guitar but I know you are a-fucking-mazing. Great job

  • Awesome.

  • new video please.... and you need to come to california and clinic!

  • I just saw there is one dislike on this page. if that person isn't YOU, Jon, they deserve to be lashed in the streets. You are one of the true great drummers of our generation. thanks for the vids

  • WE NEED A NEW VIDEO JON!!!! :)

  • :D :D :D

  • daaamnn! 5 stars man, looks like a blast to play!

  • Envy doesn't even come close..

  • FINALLY.

A drummer who's in a hxc band who actually has VERSATILITY.

I can't tell you how happy this video makes me.

By the way what cymbal is that by your hats? Makes a "bell" sound.

  • haha 1 dislike ..... too Smoov ;))) to not like

  • Your moeller is one of my favorite things to watch in this video. Especially in those climax parts of this peice. And also in this peice I admire your expression. It really makes me feel like your not just playing a perice, but performing it. Your a great inspiration. Thanks.

  • how can anyONE possibly dislike this video of raw talent?!

  • This is amazing...Do you give lessons by any chance?

  • Please Jon,you can take any amount of my time you want.Incredible job.

  • What type of effects cymbals is that? And is that a session ride?

  • Gravy man. 100% Gravy

  • 2:29 XD Jazz needs more blast beats and double-bass. Jon Karel is my hero. His and Travis Orbin. If they battled there would be no victor.

  • @TheVeganDrummer Beautiful song, by the way.

  • @TheVeganDrummer My two favorite drummers as well. :D

  • exelente... simplemente exelente

  • This dude is amazing! His playing flows so well with the music, it's insane.

  • so this is what he's been doing.lol.

  • haha blast beat makes me laugh ahahah great playing just is funny :) this dude has talent

  • is he playing for any bands at the moment?

  • @op3nmi1k yup Sawtooth grin

  • Does anybody know what cymbal that is underneath the hi-hats?

  • jon karel you are the man

  • Comment removed

  • if anybody can name a drummer better than Jon, ill suck your dick.

  • just awsome!!!! freakin legendary jon!!!! everything is in the right spot... i can listen to this all day long!

  • This is so SICK! I love it!

  • You're just................. awesome, maybe my biggest inspiration to play drums

  • You're fucking amazing man. I wish I could have one eighth of your skill.

  • im having a hard time figure out whats under your hi hat, a small china?

  • Jon's facial expression as he drums makes this song, like, 10 times better. =D

  • this is so goddamn nice omg..

the beginning part with the hihat.. epic

  • dude you are so freaking good lol

  • blast beats in a tango song, doesn't get much better than that =)

  • Yup, I enjoyed this.

  • What hi hats are those?

  • @slipknotmaggot0650 they look like k hybrid hats.

  • *cries a little* beautiful
