I would recommend soldering a switch onto that to prevent shorting of the the battery.

take the break system a attach a wire to it and the other the the metal bar that supports your back wheel, so everytime you use the break, the wire you attached to it will touch the other wire, pretty simple button to turn it on, thats what i did with mine, all i have to do is use the break and teh spark go on

I have exploded these batteres ON PURPOSE before, it's not a big enough explosion to do any damage. I tried many different ways, and I could only get them to make small explosions while on a 10AMP charger, using a birtday cake sparkler to ignite the gasses. A lighter would make a small explosion on one call but the flame would be estinguished and coudn't ignite the others.

yeah man it can get kinda scarry having batteries close to your manhood you just gotta make sure you don't make a  spark by the vents and make an explosion!

I used a schwin electric motor, salvaged a scooter sprocket & chain, mounted two walmart deep cycle batteries on the frame, and wired everything up.

I did not use velocity control on the scooter. I answered how you build it in another one of my responses.

I ended up using the electric motor to build a book bag carrying robot. I discovered if you make a switch that touches both motor terminals together when there is no power applied that the motor will act as a brake. Not quite what you were asking but it is useful to know.

The motor was salvaged from an electric scooter I found in the trash. I would not suggest a car starter motor as they are not made for continuous use!

Lol man I understand. It wasn't home made, but, rather, a home repaired AIPTEK. They are quite possibly the worst camera's known to mankind. Then, in order to use a free video editor, it had to be in AVI format. Youtube messes up on every AVI format video, I don't know what it is. But thanks for watching! I'll be sure to make a cooler electric scooter soon, and, I got a new camera!

to make a throttle for a electric bike you need a potentiometer... they aren't very expensive... also you should add regen braking, lol
