@witeass34, each filter has the exact same job to do in the exact same situation. You should think before you type. @jeffmclowry, what is it that they don't filter?
@BuccaneerTruckStuff Fine dust. My turbo was coated with dust after only 4,000 miles with a brand new K&N, they are not good for turbo vehicles at all.
K&N filters do flow quite well. But they don't filter very well. That is too bad though because if it weren't for that, K&N would be pretty damn awesome!
@witeass34 also. assuming you were talking about a 3-4 inch hole for the k&n filter demo, i don't think a hole would help the ball rise. it would probably help the ball fall. since the fans are inhaling air from the front rather than the back. the fans would just blow the air through that 3-4 inch hole. and don't try to tell me that you were saying the hole was for the normal filter, because your comment wouldn't even make sense.
@witeass34 Both filters go through the same exact scenario. The air flow demo is not a rigged item. They need the adjusting door so whoever has is can calibrate it to where they are. Keep in mind, there is different atmospheric pressures depending on elevation and weather that will affect the air flow demo, so calibration is needed just like a speed sensor.
The K&N filter media is cotton. They used these ages ago back in the days of oil bath air cleaners. They are an improvement over a metal gauze filter but let in more dirt than an oil bath or paper filter. However , they flow well . As far as engine wear goes I doubt if it will be a significant factor unless you drive in very dusty areas. Just make sure you change your oil regularly.
Idiots, of course it's gonna allow more shit in the engine if you don't oil it up right. The oil you put on the filter helps it catch dust, and commen sense tells you if it's leting more air to your engine well there's gonna be more dust.
Getting a hot chick to demonstrate is just a cheap gimmick. The fact of the matter is that K&N filters do not filter nearly as good as a regular paper or Nano fiber filters. They let fine dust through. If you put them up to light you can actually see through them...what does that tell you? They can also damage sensors on some engines. There's a reason why K&N sells a sock to put over their filters in dusty conditions.
@hotwelder2010 How come the million mile chevy truck ran K&N and the head was never off it. I always wonder about these filters my self though lol. Surely more air flow means more crap flowing through with it.
Who came here to see the air filter suck her shirt off?...

This display works great to sell AFE filters also, it makes the K&N look as restrictive as the stock filter.

@witeass34 i can vouch for the legitimacy of this test. they have the same exact demo at the local kragen's here. but they have a red ball.
