Carolina may be a good skater, but Sasha is over at the very top of the list of who's the best figure skater in the world. Mao and Yu Na certainly are not at the bottom of the list, though they are halfway down in the middle. Flatt is on the very bottom of the list. Mirai Nagasu currently shares the top spot along with Sasha.

after irina slutskaya retirement she's the best skater in europe. I'm european and I'd like to support european skaters, however I think she's no match for kim, asada,ando and other asian and american skaters. her jumps are unsteady, artictic impressions aren't good too. her silver medal in 2008 was the luck of the draw.

Kwan introduced me to this beautiful piece of music in 2001, and Carolina does it justice here. I was so sad to see her fall apart at worlds, but this is very pretty. From everything I've read, she's supposed to be the nicest person, so I hope she can start doing better. I really like her style.

@quasi1972: Can't you just watch her skating and enjoy it, or comment on HER skating, without comparing her to others all the time? This Yuna and Mao obsession of peoples is really starting to border on absurd (and somewhat disturbing). I love figure skating, and appreciate that all of them bring a different talent and style to the sport. It's okay to be a huge fan of a skater as well as love other skaters.

man this was tuff to watch, she is such a strong skater and was at a good position to medal, her grace is nice and her speed is gorgeous, perhaps she skates too fast which is hard to control, wish her the best for next season, this music is wonderfull does anyone know the composer or artist? her swan lake program was good too i wonder why she changed it :/

@jwbt: If you think they are the best that you've ever seen, you must be about 4 years old, tops. You write at that age level, it seems (if English isn't your fist language, I apologize). Seriously though, Yuna and Mao are great, but they haven't been around that long, and it's a bit weird to see people worshiping them and calling them "the best ever." I mean, have you ever seen Kwan skate, or Yamaguchi, or, in terms of jumping, Ito, who was at their level 20 years ago, literally. Research.

I love Carolina's presence on the ice. She skates like an adult, and she has mature choreography. Even though I love Yuna and Miki and Mao, Carolina seems so much more elegant and mature. (she is a little older, but only be like 3 or 4 years.)

carolina was robbed of the gold, technically even with the mistake on the 2nd flip, she should have won. laura didnt have either a flip or a lutz (attempted but popped it). If it wasnt for the spins, carolina would have won.

not a fan of this performance. she just looks sloppy...she could be a great skater if she would just make her jumps look prettier and more controlled...she just looks so out of control out there...and she really has no artisitc flow in her skating whatsoever...but if she could improve that she could be good....cause her salchow was beautiful!!

It seems that she STOPS skating prior to all of her jumps. She just freezes. During other parts of her program she doesn't flow from one element to another. I'm puzzled how she always places so high.

Laura Lepisto from Finland did not perform nor triple lutz neither triple flip ??? I can't believe she's the European Champion ! She just won because Europeans took place in Finland ! For me Carolina Kostner Remains the European Queen on the ice !!!

Well... If you take a look at the scores you'll learn that Kostner actually was better in technics and presentation. However, it's the overall score that counts and that's why Lepistö won. Italy has showed a great lack of sporting spirit by complaining about it afterwards. Shame on Carolina if she is willing to have the gold medal that way.
