  • I love this up-beat version !!!

  • Was just jamming to hank III's Country Heros. This is a great song to follow with FYI!

  • the first time i heard this song i was working in a group home full of ppl with mental disorders... it fit perfectly! love the way he does this song!

  • I *just* found out that this is a Statler Bros cover. Eric does a great job with it!

  • @aIIesanders Never saw Pulp Fiction eh?

  • The people who disliked this have nothing to do.

  • @VMKCheat

    LOL :D

  • He reminds me of Elvis. :)

  • good tune after a few pints

    :b

  • this guy should be way more famus

  • That awkward moment when you notice that both of the top comments are yours, and you realize you should probably spend less time commenting on Youtube videos.

What a fitting song for such a realization, too. xD!

  • this version of the song sucks.

  • Ok, this is the first time I've ever seen this video, After growing up to The Statler Bro's doing this, and as O/C as I am for Original artists, and live performances, This is really good!!

  • Great song and a very nice man. His new music is great too

  • more like 738 people don't have anything to do

  • written by the late great Lew DeWitt, tenor with the Statler Brothers. he passed away in 1990 from Chron's Disease at the age of 52. what a great legacy. Eric gave the song great new life, i love this version. RIP Lew

  • I used to sing this at Karoke when I was 15 years old back in 2003 , those were good times! I too remember when this was on heavy rotation on CMT back in 2000.

  • I have always believed this song would have done well covered in other musical genres. The lyrics and music are perfect for some unusual adaptations. Slowed down, an amazing gothic cover could have been performed by a group like Type O Negative for example.

  • Eric hit #6 in Billboard, 8-27-00. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!

  • This version actually outdoes the original in my opinion! That doesn't happen often.

  • DK.

  • I remember dancing around the house to this song when i was younger.

  • the best of this song ever sang

  • On a lighter note!! great version~~~~

  • love this song

  • One of the few cover versions of a classic that compares very favorably with the original.

  • 19 People Can't Count

  • I have the Statlers version of this song on my IPod but I think this guy is kind of cute,

  • im not even a big country fan...like at all BUT im quite annoyed that this song is so underrated. its truly a great song and it reminds me of me and im sure alot of you feel the same.

  • Hey eric u saw me singing in schooners and u and crook said for my adigrafe

  • @shorebird1949 just heard the origional, pretty damn good

  • Did anyone catch the homage to Captain Kangaroo? The falling ping-pong balls.

  • Oh boy now I know why pervs lick the faces of their victims when they are hot... His face just looks so lickable! Doesn't he remind you of Rajesh Koothrapalli from The Big Bang Theory? So hot... Talk about tall, dark and handsome!

  • Holy crap I didnt realize there was a video for this song!!!

  • fuck vevo

  • Fuck Vevo

  • @Mcdickbuffet Well no shit smart guy:P

  • What happened to this fellow? He was a good guitar player, nice singer, and hecka handsome. Where is he?

  • @missmarygroovy He was too talented to succeed.

  • I remember being like 7 years old dancing around my living room whenever this came on CMT and singing along. :) haha good times.

  • @ArtistGirlNikki Ditto! :D

  • @ArtistGirlNikki I was 6 and i know exactly what you mean lol, grew up to this age of country music

  • @ArtistGirlNikki @imswiney56 omg i sooo grew up to this too!! (: i completely remember my older brother and me watching CMT all day long just to hear this song so we could sing and dance to it!!! best song ever.

  • @ArtistGirlNikki I Thought About This Song Today (Have No Idea Why) And I HAD To Listen To It, I Remember Dancing To It Too.

  • 16 people have nothing to do.

  • 25 people are gay

  • Really brings me back... :)

  • AMG This was my favorite song/video as a child!

  • at 1:42, are those ping pong balls dropping on him? If they are, it fits perfectly. He mentions Captain Kangaroo, and he always got rained on by ping pong balls courtesy of Mr. Moose.

  • @Lowgaen11 no there golf balls oh wait their ping pong balls duh

  • I'd be pretty disappointed if I looked in the fridge and all I found was a camera

  • he looks like Jim Carrey, mixed with Mark Wills, and a little bit of Elvis

  • hey there good version of the song i really like the beat but my old neighbor dora hall did in my opinion the best version of the song she has disappeared but her music lives on a great version once again i look forward to hearing more of this artist good job

  • how the hell does this song only have 301k views wtf

  • love Eric Heatherly...love this song!

  • this version simply kicks ass......great to see it updated, this guy did a fantastic job. how could this guy become a one hit wonder ??

  • No.

  • This reminds me when I was on unemployment. :D

  • He looks like Wilson from House!!!!! :)

  • hot hotter hottest! love it.

  • neither do the words 'epic' and 'fail' begin to cover what a waste of someone else's catch phrase have become to ppl like you there finnholger.....

  • Late 90's style video, great. Love the song.

  • During certain parts of this, he reminds me of the guy from Office Space, except with side burns.

  • I love love LOVE his guitar strap!!!

  • some have suggested the song is about agoraphobia

  • Hi There I really Love this Song its Fun and sorta funny, I like it because its country and western. Thanks Man

  • At least he gets that it's about a guy in the insane asylum. Too bad he took it too literally so the lyrics get thrown in your face... just in case you didn't get it. Statler Bros. definitely much better, musically and stylistically.

  • My favorite version of this song is the original, by the Statler Brothers. I especially liked where Harold Reid came in on the chorus ("Smokin' cigarettes and watchin' Captain [Kang] Kanagaroo..."). This version is just TOO different for me.

  • video was cool. not a fan of the remake though hah

  • As a 62 year old who remembers the original Statler Brothers hit........This rendtion is the first one to really do justice to the original. The Instrumental work under the words is great. His voice is made for Rock-a-Billy I love this version. And BTW I also know Captain Kangaroo, (Mister Green Jeans, Mr. Moose, Grandfather Clock, et. al.)

  • @shorebird1949 Hi, I'm 16 and I love the Statlers Brothers and I absolutely LOVE this song, I listen to it almost every day on my ipod whilst walking home from gym in the sunset, it simply puts a smile on my face. It's a fantastic thing.

  • @shorebird1949 He really did do this song justice, I still love the original and I too, being raised on The Statler Brothers and so many other artist, The Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, etc., remember Captain Kangaroo had to make sure I watched it every time it came on.

  • @shorebird1949 I never knew the statler bros did this one, originally. I remember growing up on late '80s through the 90's and early 2000s country music and this song was often played. I just listened to the original, and I agree with you that this song really does do it justice.

  • @shorebird1949 I remember captain kangaroo and mr green jeans * I wanted a moose for a pet and green overalls i had to turn 18 for the overalls to be green ( could get them all day long in blue But Not the same ) and grandma said i couldn't have pets that out weighted me. * couldn't ever find a skinny moose so wait til she finds out i got a snake : ) have a great day.

  • Epic doesn't begin to cover this type of fail

  • JUNK ITS ALL JUNK!!!! the old version is the only version not this SHIT!

  • i'm gonna try and get his other song wrong 5 0 clock on here since they dont have it lord knows why

  • s.a.x. b.a.l.l.s...

  • This song was even better live. Eric Heather is a really down to earth guy. He spent 15 minutes after the show talking to my son about guitars and music. And yes he is better looking in person and sexy as hell .. LOL

  • awesomeness!!!!!!! dont mind my user name that was a mistake... i didnt make my accout... but i locve this song!!!!!

  • I loved this song when i was little.

  • im 18 and i have no idea who captain kangaroo who is, is that bad? lol but i remember singing this song to my daddy and uncle when i was little it was my favorite memory!

  • @MyRyanlover Not really Bad. just little unfortunate. I am only 32 myself but I knew of Captain Kangaroo from my parents. He was kinda like Mister Rogers mixed with a little of Peewee Herman. Can't really place a 90's-2000's version to it but it was a Kids TV show

  • thats crap to the original dont touch the song

  • @jigsawzoubir if he sucks why did you watch the vid and add a comment

  • i remember hearing this song when i was in like first grade or something and all i remember was "captain kangaroo." haha.

  • I am to busy .... sorry I gotta go wash the dishes, go watch dora the explorer N scrub the bathtub... don't tell me I've nothin to do. LOL

  • I want to talk to the bassist!

  • i want to talk to the bass player!!!!!

  • WoW............ never thought I would like this song by anyone other than the Statler's but this guy is good. Real Good! The video did not do much for me but the music, the song, and the voice are super. I now have this song in my head and will sing it all day tomorrow. Thanks for a enjoyable post!

  • i like this 1 the best.......then the original..all other suck ass

  • Vevo pisses me off):

  • @amour35rouge thats why i listen to lyrics of the song

  • He sucks !!

  • i cant read your comments, im to busy ......

  • it's interesting but the original is better XD i like the old sounds

  • I LOVED this song when I was a kid :) This is a great rendition.

  • I just noticed he has a seat belt buckle on his guitar strap, that is so ftw

  • i hate vevo it took 10 mins to load this

  • @bruceberadino Lrn2YouTube.... or maybe get a new computer.

  • @XBulletsXloveX its brabobly ie iv still got version 5 just to lazy to upgrade to ie 9

  • i used to listen to this song ALL the time wen i was five it brings back so memories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • holy shit this is dreadful!!

  • someone just sent me a link sayin i look like this dude.. phh lol

  • Loved this song since i was a little kid and it will NEVER get old. Eric Heatherly sounds like and looks like the modern elvis. and you can deny tht.

  • I absolutely love this version. It gives a more completeness. I tend not to like cover songs for the most part and I am not a big country fan on most occasions but I like it. I like it a lot.

  • poor city folk they think this is country yall dont no wat real country is this is almost like 60's rock but still a bad ass song

  • @93biggin Well, apparently, you dont know what your are talking about. This song was originally done by the Statler Brothers. Which happened to be a quartet and one of the biggest country bands of the 60's, 70's and 80's. Eric's version is not to far from the actual original. So, before go off spouting your ignorant mouth, know the facts.

  • @musicsnob01 ya no wat Fuck you this song that is playing is not country they destroyed it an turned it into a old style rock swingger song

  • I chose this song as my F in my A-Z Country songs from 2000 list

  • @AngelaRed what was your song for letter X?

  • Fabulous song. Kinda know how he feels. lol

  • Loved this song growing up and love this remake of it.

  • you've ruined the Orig of this song... sorry.

  • well this is great. i always liked this song by Statler Brothers, but this one not worse. Rock 'n Roll!

  • lol

  • Thank you, Tinbuck3

    Good Song

  • i really loved this when it was popular [and still do]...too bad this is probably his biggest hit...whatever became of him??

  • @600keith , He is going to be playing a show in Indianapolis on April 16, I have been following his career for the past couple of years and go see him wherever he plays. Great guy!

  • This video is the bee's knees!!!!!

  • I think it's his eyes..:)

  • this song describes me 100%

  • This song is OK, but I watch and rewatch this video because this guy is one of the most naturally sexy men I have ever seen. His pants should be tighter though.

  • Wow. I agree, (yes, I'm female, this is my husbands account) I actually added him on myspace and sent him a message, lol.

  • @lizajeans i totally agree..whew he's fine as frogs hair ...

  • Comment removed

  • OMG! I love his guitar strap its a seat belt buckle XD

  • This is so much better than the original!!!!!!!!

  • I totally agree but still love the original. The guitars makes this killer

  • I've loved this song ever since hearing the Statlers..I relly like both versions.

  • @azzorroww: were you out the day they taught proper use of punctuation in school?

    ......

Man, I haven't heard this song in a long time. I like it!

  • rodneyisgodney - unfortunately your right on this one in school, they told me just to write the words .

So i lost out big time there, my appologies to you, i knew someone would call me on punctuation and it's a fair and justified criticism.

  • Best cover of any song I have EVER seen.

  • the statler brothers sing it better

  • aaaaaaaa good memories:)

  • This is the song Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold were listening to when they were on their way to kill the people in there school COLUMBINE KILLERS PART 1

  • what do you mean a gay video , hey if a guys looking into his buddys fridge and nothings in there he aint going to eat is he maybe your putting to much in to the lyrics a shit version i thought eric up dated it well maybe your a purist

well i wont blame you for that some originals should not be touched, there are exceptions however as with erics rendition here.

  • This is the very theme song of my life... I love it! Used to listen to it on the Pulp Fiction soundtrack cd but this is the best rendition ever. I had to go and buy some Eric Heatherly cd's on Amazon and let me tell you, they're awesome! Eric rocks! This is THE purrfect version of this beautiful song.

  • lol i agree

  • ...DON'T TOUCH THE SONG!! It's the best rendition I've ever heard. It NEVER WAS a rock and roll song!! Absolutely fabulous!!

  • I agree with getdusty1. Don't redo this song agian this is better than the original in my opinion and don't get me wrong one of my favorite bands is slayer but I have to agree no rock should be introduced to this song.

  • @darkinferno6 yeah it is a good country song and it does and will always sound better in country

  • The Statler Brothers or whatever they were called sang the song gross! I don't care that it was their song. I love this version. I turn up the radio whenever it comes on.

  • @getdusty1 this was the only song on his album that was a cover and it pissed him off that it just happened to be the most popular one on it. personal i like Wrong Five O'Clock.

  • I'll hafta listen to it!! Thanks.

  • man, put some rocknroll in it!

  • Great cover!

  • Great Song!
