I have always believed this song would have done well covered in other musical genres. The lyrics and music are perfect for some unusual adaptations. Slowed down, an amazing gothic cover could have been performed by a group like Type O Negative for example.

As a 62 year old who remembers the original Statler Brothers hit........This rendtion is the first one to really do justice to the original. The Instrumental work under the words is great. His voice is made for Rock-a-Billy I love this version.  And BTW I also know Captain Kangaroo, (Mister Green Jeans, Mr. Moose, Grandfather Clock, et. al.)
