TelephoneTechTalk I developed TelephoneTechTalk to allow communications workers from around the neighborhood and around the country to communicate with each other and become a resource to our fellow communications employees. Find out whats going on in your neighboring garage, central office, retail wireless store, equipment manufacturing plant or on top of the closet cell tower. Landline, wireless, fiber optics, equipment manufacturers and cable. Everybody is welcome.

If it wasn't for the union we would be like all the other people when the powers that be make bad investments. This company makes so much money it could sustain twice as many people. The unwise investment of our money has cost this company. They try to make the little guy pay for it.
Apparently union talked the big talk, but couldn't walk the walk. There is no strike and as of right now no contract, yet all are reporting to work tomorrow.
this will effect the entire economy regardless of phone service. people who have worked for 30 plus years at verizon and retired should not be bilked out of their health benefits. If you dont fight now for your future, you children, you family, then it will be too late. we are not asking for more money, we are asking to keep what we have as the greedy upper management lines their pockets off of our hard work! ibew 2222 member
I think that if there is a strike, many people can be replaced. Jobs can be moved to other locations. I have seen this happen. Also if there is a strike. How the hell are we (My wife and I) going to feed the kids, pay the morgage, pay the bills? I work for a differant company, but my paycheck alone will not pay for everything. We have to heat our house this winter, buy clothes for the kids. Money is not growning on trees.
Are you kidding me???? You need to find a way to financially get by... everyone is in the same boat..... If we back down now tell me how are you going to afford a family medical plan?????? UNITED WE STAND!!!!!!!!!
ARE YOU kidding me. With the cost of living and gas prices going up weekly, getting by.. wow.. you need to think of what you are saying.
I have a family medical plan at the place where I work. All I am saying.. Verizon can move all the local jobs somewhere else, and then you'll have nothing. I have kids and morgage to pay. My wife's union doesn't have a union fund. Everyday she is on strick, it's no money for us. That is even worse then the medical plan. No work, No money for anything
It seems your speeches hint at your personal quest for enlightenment. It seems enlightenment happens to those with a loving heart. It seems you should be taking better care of your dedicated union workers and give a fair contract and it seems you should never forget where you came from.
hey ivan, YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY HOW ABOUT NOT FLYING AROUND ON THE COMPANY JET FOR YOUR PERSONAL VACATIONS. You make 28 mil a year you greedy worthless excuse of a ceo. LEAVE OUR HEALTHCARE ALONE. 2 weeks left and you still make your rediculous demands of taking paycuts to keep healthcare. Why dont YOU TAKE A PAYCUT IVAN!!!!
As a former Union member and now a lower level management employee...I have always understood the importance of collective bargaining...Let's see Pension, healthcare, 37.5 hour work week, sometime 35 IE..NJ and less restrictive tuition assistance....But you cant deny the fact that the Union protects losers, people that don't deserve a 25/30 dollar an hour job with tons of benefits.....Until you change that perception, and I hope you do, you will make it easier for Ivan/Denny to move work away!
Yeah timcandyass.we protect losers like you!!.your benefits are directly related to what we get...or more to the point ..the benefits that the company keeps taking from you WERE secured by the UNION in the first place.
The lower management benefits are not directly related to what you get. I'm in healthcare and have seen your copays listed on your insurance card verses what is listed on my card (spouse of as the spouse of a management employee). $75 ER Visit is not = to the $15 ER copay I saw on a CWA Verizon Aetna card just last week. We've paid a small portion of our benefits for years. Some companies, like where I work, make employees pay $452 every two weeks for crappy insurance.
Considering the Management in the company as of late, pahleeease don't call any union member a loser, you're not qualified to do so.And, by the way, what would you call someone that takes a pay hike, only to gain the "prestige" of being called a "manager" and have to work more hours, have to pay for their healthcare, have their pension taken away from them, AND on top of it take credit for work that OTHER PEOPLE DO...A LOOOOOOOO OOOO OOOO SERRRR!!!
clearly you do not appreciate the job you have. as a lower level manager, you should be able to see that your job thrives on our survival. in the NY/MA/RI areas, first and second level mgrs wish they could retreat. Rusterholtz's org is having a large rif. if you aren't under her, yours will come soon. good luck buddy. i think you need to change your perception. as unhappy you are with the few negative aspects of the union and the protection, i bet when rif time comes you wish you had it!
I was told that only union members hired before 2003 had job security. anyone hired after 2003 can be laid of....i dont know what is the truth. Iam a CSA in the NJ FSC and we are told we might get fired after three years so they can replace us with cotractors. is this true? if so then we will not buy our home. anyone with info please let me know, I was hired 6/6/05 -
if the Union protects losers then how did a "loser" get hired in the first place? The Union didn't do the hiring. The management is the dumb one who did the hiring in the first place. The CEO's made a fortune on the backs of the union workers who did the hard work while representing the company. Stand Strong and United.
Working at the FSC was not my idea of fun. Verizon had thoroughly exploited absolutely every contract loophole to make life miserable for all, including lower management. I sure miss the steady 23 dollars per hour though!
That's OK because EUR/USD will take care of me. Possibly very well.
Having mentioned that, I wish the best to the CWA members who really do their jobs- But whether you do or not, I can't help but to feel sorry for you all. Mr. Seidenberg knows where I stand also!
Its That Time Again!!!
