Booth realizes that he has to confront Bones about the possibility of her being a suspect, however he hesitates a bit because he doesn't want to hurt her. Booth tells Bones, "that's lot of hurt," because Bones is willing to protect her father, even though her relationship with her father was rocky. (since her father protected her).

ummm he definitely said "that's a lot of HEART" and laurencj1 is right. he was more than happy to implicate her as long as he thought she had an alibi - being with him all day. it wasn't until after that didn't hold anymore that he hesitated because he realized she was actually willing to be charged with her father's crimes to get him off. Which is definitely not what her rational brain told her to do.

i didn't interpret it the way itsjayt did... Booth did say that's alot of heart. remember when they were talking earlier and she said she wanted her father 2 go free but she didnt understand bcuz her and Booth put murderers in jail? he told her 2 use less brain and more heart. when she asked Booth later on how she could help her father beat the case he told her again less brain more heart. on the stand he was saying that she was asking a lot of him 2 say she could kill and it was a lot of heart

Also by saying that she had the time 2 kill the director she runs the risk of being charged with the murder and Booth didnt want 2 do that 2 her.....that's y he said she was using a lot of heart.
