  • 31 people are Nickelback fans.

  • What the hell !! Why klicks 31 people the diss like button ??

  • super guitariste ,mark,du groupe alter bridge

  • thanks mark !!!!! LOL dman i.w.m

  • Any links to tabs anyone?

  • its just outstanding....woow!!! love you mark tremonti<3<3 you are really good

  • oh, come on youtube... an 'Victorious' ad at the beginning of a tremonti video? screw you!

  • Amazing video. Thank you so much Mark. The full Tremoti on Guitar one with the cd is full of knowldge behind the licks. It is like Gold.

  • the first ones hard enough O.o

  • If you disliked this video, you're probably blind, and hit the wrong button.

  • @all of you folk, you may be surprised to find just how little music theory most modern guitar players and musicians in general know. A prime example I can pick just off the top of my head being Dave Mustaine. Fantastic musician, incredibly innovative, but not a single drop of knowledge about music theory.

  • @aknfjoshmiller LOL.... Every professional guitarist Knows Theory. u cant create licks without knowing theory.

  • @Dime1916 thats so full of a bullshit. you have to know a little bit of theory, but for creating riffs you just need to be able to hear a melody/riff/hord progression in your head and get it on the fretboard or wahtever instrument you are playing. theory can help but it can also be an obstacle when you try to create some innovative ...

  • @die0eule0ulrich If you're playing a G major scale I don't see why it would be hard to throw in an F rather than an F#. You kind of have to know the rules to break them. If you're making random songs without knowing any theory, that's not being innovative. That's just you not knowing what you're doing. haha

  • @G27dude WTF :D What if I play G chord and then in my head have a sound and when I put that sound on the fretboard and it turns out to be a F chord... Do I have to know the theory to create that? And in the end, what does it matter if someone actually knows how he did that progression theory-wise or if he just played what he haerd in his head? Sorry but just doesnt make any sense, its equally creative, just with a different approach!

  • @die0eule0ulrich So if I knew theory inside and out does it make it more difficult for me to play a G chord followed by an F? No, so how is it a barrier. I know it's not theoretically correct if I was trying to write a song strictly in G but I can still do it, and that's exactly what I'm saying. What if you wanted to solo over it. You must have a very good memory to know where all of the "good sounding notes" are for EVERY key without associating it with any scales. It's good to know. just sayin

  • @G27dude So first of all, I agree that you have to know theory to a certain extent! It can be a big help and make a lot of things easier, but sometimes you stick too much to the scales and the theory and it can be harder t break out of the box, to play something new. And to write a G-F progression in the key of G major is something you can do w/o knowing theory. a lot of great musicians dont know theory that well and come up with great stuff. but for improvising it CAN be a help, i agree

  • @die0eule0ulrich lol. Actually F isn't in G major so you can't write a G-F progression in that key. But hardly anyone actually writes chrod progressions in strictly one key. Key relationships. You need to brush up on your theory ;) haha. Glad we found some common ground.

  • @G27dude Yeah I know that but you said yourself if you r in G major and introduce an F chord you CAN do that, even though its bit "strange" or uncommon to do. But you can do that w/o theory too ;) I got to agree Im still a bit unsecure when it comes to mixing keys in one song (here I rely on what I hear or what I come up with when jamming and think it sounds cool). an websites with some explanation on that topic for me? :)

  • @die0eule0ulrich sorry i havent checked YT in a longtime. so first Licks n Riffs not the same. n the funny Part is u said it urself how Theory is useful.Theory is not jus a few scales n modes. Chord Progressions are Part of theory. if only u get into Chord study u'll know How deep it is. n innovation... yes its always good to be unconventional...but to be a master at being unconventional u need to know how to be conventional.Know the Rules to Break them.

  • @Dime1916 didnt randy roads have like 0 theory knowledge? (not sure)

  • @walterppk1989 Randy Rhodes' mom was a classical guitar teacher. I think he probably had a "little" musical theory. LOL :)

  • I hate how internet and the frickin media created rumors about this guy and what he represents. Fuck em. Tremonti is one of the if not THE BEST guitar player of MODERN ROCK!

  • Am I the only one who noticed that on the first riff Mark up-picked all the notes?

  • I like that this guy doesn't just PLAY it, but KNOWS IT COMPLETELY! Knowing all the theory behind the lick makes him EVEN MORE OF A BAD ASS

  • what was the song at the start?

  • @jwatcunt96

    Blackbird. - Alter Bridge

  • @jwatcunt96 blackbird - alterbridge

  • He's actually a lot better at the guitar than his music with Creed lets on.

  • i feel like such a noob...

  • he's so good. that i got absolutely nothing out of this lesson. lol. he's to good.

  • i want a PRS but iv'e got more chance of growing my plonker another 12 inches.

  • @steptoesaunt PRS's aren't so expensive man! Theres a red and a black signature edition from PRS which only costs like 550 bucks! I bought it! Expecting to have it around next week :D

  • @ZijnErNogNamenOver yeah but it's not the actual signature though ;)

  • @ZijnErNogNamenOver that would be the student edition (SE) version of the actual signature. lets face it, no signature edition guitar is cheap. sorry to disappoint.....

  • @traumabond

  • Guitar Beginners out there?

If so this is for you want to pick up and learn a guitar?

perhaps you want to ask questions about a guitar before buying?

well come in and subscribe to theworldofguitars

Where Guitars is the only language spoken.

  • Damn screw these licks, I wish Mark talked more about ear training in this lesson! It seems like he uses the same ear training method as Steve Morse.

  • @atrickpay11 Tell me more, and about the Steve Morse Ear training method. Where can I find? please.

  • @Yimmery hey, i saw about it previously on Morse's official site...it was mentioned in a Guitar One magazine interview (that was scanned onto his site (they had a bunch of his magazine interviews scanned in to read). I just checked earlier this week and I couldn't find it on his site. In any case, the method he uses is very specific. It's the kind I use as well. He has trained his brain to listen to the notes as scale degrees. The best site that I know for training this is iwasdoingallright com.

  • @atrickpay11 Thanks that site looks good, will check it out. There's some stuff about this covered (briefly) in Troy Stettina's "Speed mechanics" book. At the mo I am singing scale as I play it to tune myself in (major or minor at moment, relatively recent for me), then singing a phrase that I've made up, and repeat it on guitar.

  • interesting how mark refers to the scale degrees...i wonder if that's the type of ear training he did..and how he hears the music in his head.

  • Wow, props for actually giving a lesson on theory, and not telling masses of people just where to put their fingers on the fretboard.

  • come on guys, quit comparing guitarists, and just get some inspiration out of tremonti's playing :) sounds cool to me.

  • Tremonti KICK ASS!!!... And i think he cannot be campared with paul gilbert and co. because mark is a rhythm guitarrist and he´s doing that very very well... He´s solos? a few but excellent

  • Wtf are you talking about? he is a solo guitarist!! you think someone who plays guitar like this is gonna stick to bullshit rhythm?!? Myles playes rhythm in alter bridge....whilst mr tremonti well and truly solos his heart out!!

  • @aviselva if you think lead is always the hard part and rhythm is always the easy part then you don't know nearly as much about modern rock guitar as you think you do

  • @aviselva i think you should hear his first work with creed,... Mr. Tremonti is an excellent guitarrist... i respect your point of view and support that hi makes great solos.. So, lets jus enjoy Creed and Alter Bridge... Regards

  • I think thats his house guys...that may be why

  • Paul Gilbert plays first lick with one sweep.

  • IF anyone can answer this... is lick number one from the beginning of the Make it Right solo? it sounds like tremonti developed it a bit further.

  • where the fuck was he? it seems like he was doing a double feature half guitar lesson half porn why in the hell is the background like that for guitar world is what i wanna know

  • looks like some were they would shot a porno ;D

  • im still trying to understand if this guy is human or not

  • this man knows his shit

  • what song is that at the beginning?!

  • @mikejoanderson BlackBird. it is the 2nd solo. "Mark's" solo

  • where can I find him teaching the picking pattern of Blackbird??

  • @WorstFilmsMakers haha yeah, this lesson is rated R kids

  • @WorstFilmsMakers LOL!! FAncy bedroom right?

  • @WorstFilmsMakers i hope so

  • the first lick, if you have heard "make it right" from the new album, it's a part of the solo ^^

  • @METALDRUMMER2009 Good ear, man.

  • Impressed. This guy is unbelievable.

  • No denying he knows his stuff and that he's a great player but I don't like most of his writing. He just tries to put fast riffs everywhere and it ruins the sound.

  • @dom1993z Have you heard Creed? That's his other band.

  • @Langtw Yeah, I have :)

  • honestly how many people do you think on average know this kind of bullshit?

  • @WarriorInternationa1 i sure dont know this shit lol

  • @FLarueAndrew haha me either

  • Check out the Fret12.com store for exclusive Mark Tremonti gear!

  • holy shit he knows his stuff

  • @mrpinkice my bad, commented before the vid buffered, now i know wat your talking bout

  • @mrpinkice and, yea, i think lick 1 is on ABIII

  • @mrpinkice also, the open your eyes solo and blackbird solo sound pretty similar, so anyone who has been listening to ab for only 3 months(like me) could make the mistake

  • @92796Apollo no the hell its not lmao... its from blackbird.

  • @JigsawWill well,im sorry!! ive only been listening for a short time!!

  • I just started learning guitar by myself a few months ago and listening to him talk like that while he's teaching the licks is intimidating. He's a badass guitarist and my idol but it's gonna take me a while to get to his level.

  • @garcia1dallas lol yeah it will, few months is nothing. I've played for 10 years and still not close.

  • @garcia1dallas dude i've been playing for 3-4 years now and watching him play is intimidating, don't sweet it

  • MT is a superb guitarist,~I've only recently discovered him, creed higher from his earlier days is excellent and later on Metalingus from Alter Bridge.

  • nice lessons..thanks to Mark n' guitarworld for uploaded this vid..let's raaaaawk !..\m/ \m/

  • He knows his theory but I can't be bothered learning intervals. Too boring.

  • what a horrible place to live :0

  • Tremonti's a machine!

  • Mark Tremonti is awesome!

  • World class!!!

  • oh man i like u...

  • He took lessons from Michael Angelo Batio

  • @jozdali00 Well, yeah he took lessons later, but in the beginning he was self taught, like most professionals who rae self taught.

  • he looks like a macho ben stiller

  • YOU SUCK!!!!!

  • I didnt know this guy was such a badass.... omg..

  • This is a good lesson from Mark. He really knows his scale theory. I also like the fact he didn't drench the licks in gobs of delay like he usually does. It shows how good his technique is.

  • Yeah Mark Kicks ass Scott stapp is a douche he had that sex tape and he was trying to figure out what he should name it and finally it struck him.............."With legs wide open"

  • Brilliant solo in the intro.

  • guys !!!! what Alterbridge song is playing in the intro to the video ????? sounds nice

  • @wilz373 The song is called Blackbird......and its a great song! One of my favorites off the album.

  • ...I think the main question is: Why is he playing in a love-den?

  • @harryormemusic Cause he gets chicks like it's his job?? Wait... Musician... Lead Guitarist... Oh wait, getting women IS his job :D

  • Tremonti is the best out today.

  • he's an incredible player and a nice guy to boot. what more can you ask for in a guitar player ;-)

  • Fuck car insurance.

  • I don't give a damn about your guitar lesson mark, but your guitar sound is freaking amazing! You're genius.

  • LOL cause we all just know what major 6 flat 7 and minor k or whatever the fuck he is saying lmao guitarest are usually horrible at explaining this crap :P...

  • @wwe9112 This lesson assumes you know "intervals."

  • I just realized that he actually knows what the hell he's talking about, anybody know if he has had formal training?

  • @believer92803 troy stetina and paul gilbert

  • @believer92803 no he had one day of lessons and said fuck it he can do this better on his own.he is self taught

  • @believer92803 no,he is self taught

  • @believer92803 He took one lesson, and I believe he said they tried to teach him song like Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or something stupid, and he just wanted to learn Metallica, so he quit.

  • @Songwriter4God HE took a lesson from Michael Angelo Batio,in the early days of Alter Bridge.

  • creed is beast

  • tremonti is divine....!

  • fuckin' ads.

  • Is he using the Open D tuning?

    btw, Tremonti is fucking awesome!!!
