  • "Gambling is illegal in this town"

  • .....I MEAN WHAT!!!!

  • MITCHUM,was ahead of his time as a screen actor ,I just read Baby I Dont Care.how he lived to 80 is remarkable ,drinking, cannabis, womanising and music, played a big part in his very full life. As a fan of film noir ,Out of the Past aka Build My Gallows High is one of his best movies, but if you watch his very early films he seems so natural compared to his co stars. His wife Dorothy somehow remained devoted to him.

  • Best movies of him, were the Winds of War, and the War and Remembrance, as PUG HENRY

  • And DeNiro remaking Cape Fear was a crime against cinema and an insult to Mitchum and Gregory Peck who both did a superlative job of acting in that great film.

Why do they re-make films that are classics? What is the point?

  • @milliondollartruth Agree 100%

  • @milliondollartruth it wasnt a remake. it was just another adaptation of the novel

  • Mitchum was one of the greatest screen actors ever. Totally believable in everything but never more so than in Cape Fear which may have been his best role. He NEVER seemed to be acting. Talk about a natural. Mitchum was to acting what Dean Martin was to singing. Total cool.

  • Was there ever an actor who looked more at home in a trench coat and fedora, with a smoke hanging from his lips-- and I'm including Humphrey Bogart!

  • the best actor ever

  • Not A Friendly Face!

  • that was a real american actor Todays jewish Hollywood actress and producers and directors, actors get the fck off from America!

  • excellent video, thanks for sharing!

  • Challopas?

  • What a cool cat. Few and far between. Thank you for the tribute.

  • the Killers was at the top of a long list of Mitchum favorties along with Out of the Past He was one of a kind won't ever be another that reefer bust he called the incarceration at the work farm as "like Palm Springs without the riff raff!" and that photo of him in the LA county jail leaning on a mop of that he said "best vacation in years" can't beat those comments with a fuckin' stick!

  • one of my favs! love him

  • the best damn actor there ever was. bridgeport, conneticut is proud good sir! :D

  • Mitchum didn't walk.....he glided.

  • Mitchum was cool before cool was cool.

  • Mitchum was cool before cool was cool.

  • One of the greatest actors. A real man, nothing wishy washy about him and they don't make men like this anymore.

  • In shape out of shape 50's guys for the win.

  • i love robert mitchum very sexy an very cool

  • not a geeat actor...a great icon!

  • Not a great actor...just an icon.

  • I heard that he turned down the offer to do the "Defiant Ones" with Sidney Poitier because he didn't want to work with a black actor. I guess I wont be watching any of his films from now on. Never really thought much of him anyway.

  • @xgs724 it wasn"t because he didnt want to work with a black actor he argued that it would never have happened black and white would never have been chained together in the segregated south and i guess he would have known as he had been on a chain gang himself. the story got distorted over the years to mitchum not wanting to work with a black actor in fact it was because the sceneplay was inaccurate[

  • His floating head makes a GREAT sidekick to the cloak

  • @xXKradinXx Ya Dude... The Cloak Is Fuckin Awsome Sauce. I Need Another Episode

  • great video...

    Mad About You...Hooverphonic

great song...but then some of you think Robbie Robertson sucks as well....same kinda haunting imagery

  • Keep the video. Lose the song that accompanies it.

  • dedico esto a Tara Dumitro Terlebauca alias Robert

  • The only one who comes to mind today would have to be Russell Crowe.

  • @mothersfreakout , Russell Crowe, yes...but also Robert De Niro, Mel Gibson and Al Pacino. but also? heck...Robert De Niro is the best of all timmmmmmeeeee.

  • Telly Savalas, Lee Marvin, Vic Morrow to name a few, had that certain tough ass, don't f**k with me attitude yet they can be romantic.

  • a nice tribute to an actor whom appealed to so many women and was a tough guy

  • quien canta la cancion de fondo estare muy agradecido al que me diga saludos

  • Mitchum, Richard Burton, and Jimmy Coburn had this aura in my opinion... I can't think of any others right now, but I will...

My point is so few have it. This 'silence of the lambs' guy in my opinion is such a poor man's Burton its unbelievable.

Ah, De Niro had it too, which is just as well, since he covered Mitchum's role in one such movie I believe...

But so few had this aura. Here's to the aura!

  • love this!!!

robert mitchum was, and IS, the most badass actor ever.

    what's the song playing?

  • The closest we have to Bob today is Joe Penny. Where the hell is he?

  • just want to thank you for this wonderful video of Robert Mitcham, he makes the hair stand up on my arms just to see him, what a voice, many a man could learn from him. thanks also for great music

  • agreed

  • YUMMY! I wish someone in movies TODAY could project this kind of masculine power. Mitchum had a big, romantic yet dangerous quality and he was one of the great heavies and anti-heroes-- see Night of the Hunter, Cape Fear and any of the noirs he made. I think he's unappreciated overall.

  • why do I have impression like he hasn't been taken seriously enough?

has he ever in his career been regarded as no1 ?

  • excellent-what a cool man

  • Great Presentation..but a Great cat like Mitchum, deserves BETTER Music to go with it!

  • Mitchum se autodefinía "Soy un poeta con un hacha" Excelente descripción de este actorazo en el libro de Shirley Maclaine "Mis estrellas favoritas"

    un saludo

    daniel

  • " time proof, weather proof." a quote from out of the past , a mitchum classic, sums up his great quality as an actor. like Bogart's ironic insolence, he trancends any era.

  • fantastico como actor.

  • Remembering Robert Mitchum on the 12th anniversary of his death. An underrated leading man in my opinion. Loved his cool laid-back style and his unassuming modesty in 'real life'. He was a great screen villain - one of the best of the film noir era.

  • great personality

    unbeatable !

  • That had to have been the best video i have ever seen

  • Oh my god, this just made my day. He's the most beautiful and sexiest actor ever!

  • i always thought the actors/actress's from the late 40s /50s were the best, robert is my fave actor from days gone by, and susan hayward my fave female actress....... now its richard dreyfuss and really dont have a fav in female,

  • Molto bello!

    Giuliano

  • WHAT IS THIS SONG? PLEASE! Very SEXY! LOVED MITCHUM!

  • mad about you by hooverphonic. your welcome

  • sounds like duffy

  • perfect

  • You made a really nice video montage of him. Sexy song too.

  • They don't make 'em any tougher than Robert Mitchum.

  • This is one of my very favorite videos. It is truly what I like best about You Tube. The selection of images were creative perfection.

  • Dorothy had to share Robert with a lot of other gals. Good man Robert.

  • I love Robert Mitchum. He is my favourite actor in time. He is the BEST.

By the way, who sings this song?

  • he was just superb.i loved bob mitchum.he easily rates with any so called best acyor of any era...that means brando, deniro, pacino i dont care he was incredible.a good bloke too.

    i think its eryka badu.

  • Mitchum. Magnetic. Magnific.

  • I love you Robert, you stood for something that is lost now. At least I remember.

  • that was one of the best actors ever! I love his films! Great tribute-video!

  • whats the name of the song?

    please ;)

  • Mad About You - Hooverphonic

  • thank you tyzy91 :)

  • You're welcome ;)

  • he was though and sexy- last week i saw a film he played a doc with frank sinatra but i dont know the name of the film..i just can recommend to watch this film he is first -class!! :) greetings from germany and keitel10 you did a very good job i could watch this video for hours-long...:)bye bye

  • gt30002: The film with Mitchum and Sinatra was "not as a stranger". If you wanna know what made the guy great, read some of the stories about the production of that film. It had Lee Marvin, Sinatra, Mitchum and Broderick Crawford. In Mitchum's own words "Not so much a cast as a brewery".

  • are you talking bout the Rat Pack¿¿

  • a big fan of his movies...love the enemy below.

  • heres one gor you...my grandfathers legs can be seen in that movie. from what the family tells me, he meet Robert Mitchum. i think its the seen where theres a man climbing up the ladder, those legs are my grandfathers.

  • one of my all time favoriet antidote about acting. "Sure beats workin' for a livin'"

  • Everyone who ever worked with him thought that he was one of the hardest-working actors they had ever seen. He just did a good cover-up.

  • I like him very much and he was married once and forever. He is from Bridgeport CT

  • Yeah. Dorothy was a lucky gal. Mitch loved her till the end.

  • One of my idols also and "oh those bedroom eyes!"

  • one of my idols

  • Robert Mitchum is awesome. My favorite films of his are Cape Fear, Night Of The Hunter, and Winds Of War. Anyone else share their opions ,(sorry if misspelled),? Open Replys right here

  • Out of the Past, Angel Face, The Sundowners, Home From The Hill, G.I. Joe, Heaven Knows Mister Allison, The Enemy Below, Thunder Road, The Racket, Bandido, Holiday Affair, Crossfire, His Kind of Woman, River of No Return and Macao are a representative sampling of his best early work upon which his reputation is based. Mitchum was always cool because he was a maverick with no illusions about the business.

  • what about El Dorado with John Wayne? that is a great film to watch

  • I agree! It's interesting to compare Mitchum's performance in that part with Dean Martin's in Rio Bravo. They're both terrific in their own way. Apparently when they made Five Card Stud they didn't hang out together at all. More proof that Dino didn't party and liked to watch old westerns instead.

  • I just started seeing his movies, and i cant stope anymore! Very good selection of pictures, and thats a good song also..mad about you! He takes my breath away! Why i wasnt a movie star in the 40 or 50??? Shit!

  • genial este video, no lo había visto, qué actorazo, y qué chulo te ha quedado, besicos!!

  • What is the song in this?

  • Mad About You by Hooverphonic

  • love it

  • Well thanks for the suggestion but I'll make whatever comparisons I like.

  • MItcum was the coolest of the cool. Mitchum also really didn't give a fukk. He once said 'All the rumors you've heard about me are true, in fact, you can make up some.'

Only Charles Bronson holds equal ground IMO.

  • Please do not compare Robert Mitchum to Charles Bronson. Robert Mitchum fans would be so insulted. You intention is good, but Mitchum was in a higher league than Bronson.

  • Mitchum was "sexyfine"!!

  • This song is Sooo Fresh ! Can't get enough of it or Bob.And despite himself he was great.I miss him so.

  • My favourite Mitchums: ''The Big Steal'' / ''Out of the Past'' / ''Villa Rides'' / ''Cape Fear'' / and of course ''THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER''

  • Great person who was at times subtile and other times comes on like gangbusters lol. my hero. The Locket and Lusty Men were proof of that.

  • I just can't get enough of sexy Robert Mitchum. Thanks for this post.

  • Yeah, nowdays men walk around with bags on their shoulders (just like women), shave their arms, legs and asses, dancing like pussies in night clubs and talk like sluts. The 21st century really sucks. And I'm 21.

  • hey im 23. and i agree with you. if i had it my way i would have been born in 1946. that way i could enjoy rock and roll, as well as his movies.

  • you are an old soul then,... just born again. I didn't like the last century either and don't like this one any better.

  • Robert Mitchum ..Thunder Road...enough said...

  • Indeed the classic tough guy. Whenever I am flooded with Oprah and the like in the media and at work, etc. and the subtle beginning of loss of male identity that follows, I think of men like Robert Mitchum and everthing is right again.

  • I can dig it! Kind of like Mel Gibson playing Frank in 'What Women Want.'

  • nice posting,im trying to find a film posting with mitchum in a film called anzio.

  • If you want another good cry, check out Revolving Brothers tribute to Gregory Peck. I'm more of a Mitchum fan but Pecks tribute is just as outstanding with great music to go with the picures.

  • he was the sexiest actor ever by far. god, just look in those sad eyes of his

  • I find the look in his eyes more like ''sweet dirty'', hard to explain.. kinda supernatural

  • Yeah and his grandson has got that same face and has those same sleepy eyes. Hopefully he hits a breakout role soon and everyone can see his handsome face as well

  • Wonderful tribute to the most charismatic man ever. Robert Mitchum is a legend, he was a very special actor. I don't know any other actor who could play a role with so much power as Mr. Mitchum. Not William Holden, not Bogart, not De Niro. great video

  • Thanks for posting this great collection. He was a special actor, wonderfully talented, but generally underrated by the critics.

  • He was so just so great! It's so sad that there are no men left like him. Thats for posting this wonderful tribute.

  • thankyou, this is a wonderful tribute to the geatest

film star ever, he was someting else

  • What an amazing actor! Although often type-casted as merely a "tough guy," his ability is undeniable. Even in death, he was upstaged by James Stewart who died the following day. R.I.P. Robert Mitchum. Even ten years later, you are still missed.
