yes, it is a way to waterproof the hinge. It is actually rubber inner tube. works perfectly!! could not find a hurricane hinge here in nova scotia. there is rubber behind the sleeping cabin door hinge as well.

Finally a mini van built by a girl!! I am thinking of building one this summer as I love the look of them. Did you use a book or plans? It looks fabulous so I bet you are proud.

@fandoogley sorry for the late reply! No, I made my own plans by looking at You Tube, Ebay and any other sites that may have pics of teardrops. There is also a really good forum out there called: Teardrops & Tiny Travel Trailers. A great place to pick other folks brains! you should build on if you can! No better feeling than having your own by building it!!
