  • -in a but shell. We know that (for example) beauty has many advantages versus an un attarctive person. Every single day we see this in daily life. And I can guarantee that ANY two people applying for a job, one of them being fucking gorgious versus the more skillful, unattractive person, the good looker will 90% of the time get the job. Purely based on beauty.

What--? You'd deny your child this advanatge? Nonsense! Debate is moot here.

  • At 1:51.

Again. I disagree with this lady. Why's it even up for debate. Wouldnt you want your child to haev every advantage as a gene, to succeed in life, to pass on IT's gene? Of course you would. That's like feeding your child only sub-par vegetables, rather than A-grade ones, because you think it's up for debate wether they should be better off with healthier teeth versus the ones that have rotting teeth. It's NOT up for debate at all.

We're all highly evolved primates. Animals in a -

  • of course it will only be for the rich at first, eventualy it will trickle down to lower strata once the cost are reduced. even if they were a step behind, everyone would benefit. Take vaccination as an example, at first not everybody was able to aford it but now is part of almost every public health program everywhere.

  • The meek shall inherit the earth but not the mineral rites!

  • The Transhumanist girl is pretty hot.

  • There are so many doomsday theorys out there it realy is getting quite boaring, things will work themselves out, the drugs will be controoled, banned or not made in the first place, stop worrying about how the world will die and society will crubmle.

  • Exactly! There is no moral difference between genetic engineering and attempts to shape children through social influences.

  • She didn't give a good response to his scattering point. In actuality, the genetic changes, as long as they are done ethically (that is, not breeding supersoldiers, etc), we will not scatter to the degree he assumes. Humanity has in common certain values in what are considered natural gifts and defects. Certainly there will be a general trend in that direction. Intelligence, health, attractiveness, longevity, athleticism... these are all traits that will be selected for accross the board.

  • it may be that the survival of the 'perfect human' once covering the planet and saturating the gene pool is at added risk from other species/bacteria/viruses have remained more natural in their variation.

  • I don't think anyone is foolish enough to do to people what was done to the Irish potato and have humanity end up the same way.

In truth we will end up with much MORE diversity than we could have achieved through natural mutation in the same amount of time.

  • Oh don't worry about that.. people are, always have been and most likely always will be, foolish. We see a light and we all rush toward it.. then the train hits us and we go back to the drawing board. we are curious, always seeking perfection, we put our foot in it time and time again and fail to learn from past mistakes. :-)

  • i am a natural human and i want to remain that way fuck human clowning. one love city of zion

  • if we do clowning were gonna end up like the matrix were not suppose to do human clowning and if were improveing technology we need to improve our inteligence with machine if we cant beat them we join them imagine virtual reality gameing

  • it's "cloning" not "clowning" hahha

  • hasn't that lady seen gattaca? what is she doing?

  • What about the consequences that could come into play in further generations of people.

I am a fan of science and technology for the benefit of mankind.

I am not a fan of driving a divide between people and creating more "classes" among people.

I do feel most people who call them selves transhumanists are being used and hurded into a new religion.

Honestly do you think anyone would give Ms. Corwin super human powers.

Will technology help her overcome her social phobia?

    I doubt it

  • These genetic enhancements will not only be germline implemented. Biotec (because it is selfreplicating) will offer enhancement capabilities to anyone for mere pennies. Would you deny Ms Corwin the facility to be immune to cancer, disease, aging? Would you deny her the choice to secure such for her children?

  • Okay Frodo time to come back from middle earth to reality.

Bio tech will not be costless. Are perscriptions?

No, companies who produce these technologies operate because of pharmaceutical companies or venture capitalists.

Both of these parent companies have their bottom line in mind not how they can "save" or "evolve" humanity.

And who pays top dollar for technology? The military.

"Transhumanism" is just another religion. Just like all religions it's job is to fill your head with BS.

  • Interesting thing about paranoia that it always thinks realism is being a dreamy optimist. You fail to account for the empowerment of all humans through the novel emerging technologies. The biotec companies are you and me and a wizkid in Biafra.

  • " biotec companies are you and me and a wizkid in Biafra."

I don't have the kind of lab equipment it takes to modify genes and I doubt you or some "wizkid" does. Instead of skirting my questions tell me how this "revolution" is for the overall betterment for man kind and not for the largest companies of the world.

Also this empowerment you speak of is a double edged sword. I agree we have amazing technology available to almost everyone. But it is the management that needs improvement first.

  • aww you don't have the equipment. Boohoo. That's the thing dude. MAKE it with your 3d Printer. Don't have a 3D printer? Have your friend print you one. Yup make all the lab equipment you need to do what ever test and experiments you want with great ease and near zero expense. What corporations? The decentralization of manufacturing breaks those monopolies in a frazzle dazzle that would put a smile on Karl Marx's mug.

  • I'm an engineering major so, I'll tell you what you print me a 3D printer from your 3D printer and ship it to me. Then you, and your "wizkid" friend and I will get the ball rolling.

    Let's do it!!

So when can I expect my 3D printer?

  • I've made mine from tree lawn scrap and a few cans of map gas. What are you waiting for?

  • I'm waiting for you to print me a copy of your 3D printer and ship it to me. You can be the President-CEO of our company and I'll be the VP.

So when can I expect my 3D printer?

  • Sorry you find it so out of line. What makes you such a fucking pessimist?

  • It's not that I find it out of line, it's just unrealistic. In order to make lab equipment you need steel of surgical quality, glass, and copper at minimum. Those are just the elements. The printer can't print those.

I'm sorry I sound like such a pessimist I'm just a realist who did have his head in the clouds. I'm all for curing cancer, however I do not want to see another silly divide drawn between people. We have enough lines already with all the different religions.

  • people who say fucking in every scentence are annoying and it just sounds lame.

  • i concur

  • This having and not having enhancement isn't a possibility it's going to be a fucking fact - because that's how fucking human beings are - fucking self obsessed.

  • The government needs to control gene modifications just like we dont clone humans today even if it is really easy to do. Only thing that help us live healthier should be allowed, not things that give you horns and wings.

  • One word for you... quit cock riding your gods balls

  • sorry i don't believe in any "gods"

  • that mog is in desperate need of some genetic manipulation

  • Eloi and Morlocks. We're all gonna be living underground!!

  • Nine sided baha'i tattoos fur' All.

    <-----<< Over and out..

  • truee

  • Not true. Rubbish! Let's fuck with it as much as possible. With respect.

  • and Get the dik cut every time u try too?? hahahahahahaaaa

  • Huh? I don't understand.

  • Why not. We're already messing with it. Hip replacements, cancer medication, any medical conditions and cures for them. We're combating these natural symptoms since cave days. Plastic surgery, transportation, etc. I mean, if your family member had a cure for his or her quadraplegic paralysis, would you deny them that? Because you think it's unethical? I think you'd change your mind real quick if that was you in that bed motionless for life.

  • kay,,,agreed on the cures point...but...why the fk try to change the fkn way Nature Causes the things to be e.g...genetic modificationss? wat so ever happens to u is a test n u have to bare it!...genetic modifications are like a Hack on CSS ..lolzz.....jst not fair tryin to change the way nature is is!

  • What's not fair? I didn't know the human race or any living creature for that matter had rules.

Fine heh heh, you have that test and hurt away. Personally, I'll let science assist me in my desperations and weaknesses. When you have colon cancer, come back and tell me about your beloved tests. Tests... ha ha! 'Ma! look! I's got a 'A' on my test'. Dude, that's just stupid.

  • uh, it's completely fair buddy! ever heard of a thing like evolution? that's natures self-replicating program to correct mistakes as we require adaptation. adaptation is learning and changing, changing is what everyone does to survive. would you still like to be hunting animals and wearing their fur? we are updating as usual, get used to it, it happens all the time. just because people made some comic books about it before doesn't mean it's any more special

  • i meant the environment. I agree with you though. I was not specific enough. (thumbs up from me)

  • these superhumans will seek out to destroy other humans & they will have a name..

  • I wonder why did they choose that young transhumanist woman to explain her vision... she is not a Professor at some prestigious university, she is not a CEO or a CSO of a big pharma corp, she is not a scientist, nor a biologist, nor a sociologist... she is a software engineer!! This was peculiar.

  • The rich will prevail At all cost ,the poor will never .
