@Lividzx I think it's because every time a piston moves a block it resets the block, so it would constantly set to being a regular wood block again, instead of catching on fire, retracting, and then catching the rest of the bridge on fire

@Xentozz Lava (for some reason) only burns combustible materials above it or to the side of it. Lava is somehow harmless to combustibles below it, as far as I've seen. Its one of those glitches Mojang never fixed with Lava.
