Theres no arguing or skepticsing now, our economy is now is falling .A bounce back later this year is hardly realistic, but slimly possible. I beleive it WILL BE a recession, and might slide to a depression, but its what we get for shooting ourselves in the foot. Think about it, all the problems seem to rise from short-term "solutions", like our american corporations always trying to get a cheap dollar. We need our old set of american ethics back, not unawarness, consumerisim, and overconfidence.

You know what I find really funny??you people all have the answers, well let me tell you one thing(unless you're among the small percent of rich out there it wont matter what country you live in...When the US goes down the rest of the world will feel the pain
I agree.. a Recession is coming to the u.k as a consequence too ! .. However this marks the turning point because although thr us economy is still by far the worlds biggest, the far east is catching up rapidly, America will become a much less important player in years to come
luvpump1 - "America will become a much less important player in years to come" I believe we can all thank George Bush,Bill Clinton and all the rest of these people that let multi-national corporations run the government...Who's bright idea was it to ship US jobs to Mexico and China and now I'm sure to where ever they'll work for even less money

luvpump1 - China is dependent on The US buying their cheap shit, problem is shipping all those jobs out of the US is going to backfire and when it does there wont be anybody to buy their goods I don't care how cheap they are. These clowns should have left the industry here in the US where it belongs..Corporations are looking for short term and their going to regret it
luvpump1 - "America will become a much less important player in years to come" Frankly I don't think you have a fucking clue about what you're talking about.People like you have earned the name (Know-It-All)because you think you know everything, guess what pal,(YOU DON'T)
The world will feel in the beginning of course, then Asians will start to sell their products lot cheaper to the rest of the world! Oil prices will fall for everybody! My country doesent depend on foreigns for OIL, FOOD, Clothing, etc, what about the US? No oil from the middle east (or at least $200 a barrel), no consumer goods from Asia (or prices 3 times higher), no cheap comoddities from third world country's (the US will become one probably). Its over, it was about time to end this nonsense.
ravengarhaze - Who are you kidding? you people are here in the US just like the Mexicans,a good percent are here illegally scabbing the jobs and living 20 fucking people to a house..Your kind will self deport because there is no place for you here.Sell your bullshit someplace else asshole..21 year old fucking Know-It-All....

wouldn't buy it when its hitting all time highs, though it is gonna go up as more ppl wake up (yea and also heard south africa temporarily stopped producing gold due to power outages). Maybe Renminbi? The Chinese gov is trying to keep it depriciated artificially but u can't keep a raging bull in a cage for too long. just throwing it out there.

the question is, will there be a soft or a hard landing for the dollar?
DOLLARCRASH1984 4 years ago
Soft landings aren't always that easy to achieve. Often talked about, but more often it's the hard landing that is reality!
financialradio 4 years ago
hard landing, because the euro is much stronger. and everbody is interested in euros today

Very interesting, and very relevant. I wonder what will happen on Wall Street later today?

I'm in international stocks, commodities (mostly agricultural), a little yen & frank, and mining stocks.
Hope if works out... we'll see.

The dollar is in trouble; what could be the best hedge against this? Foreign stocks/bonds, gold?
TokyoKen2007 4 years ago
Gold's normally a good one I think. Or there's always currency options?

Go for the Euro if you can

I've interviewed some traders that reckon $1250 is a realistic target this year. Beats the days when it was stuck in the 250 - 400 range!

like I said I expect it to go up too
