People who post rude comments are only people who have little time on their hands. They sit here, posting their hollow feelings about something they seldom know farther then a wikipedia page. I don't know much about the composer, where this music came from, how it was made. What I do know is this; This music is beautiful. It touches me to the heart and it makes me tear up as this piece touches feelings within myself. Music like classical piano has its place. You trolls won't take it from there.
Wow! I love the piece and the duet. I just don't understand the bitterness of some of you posters. How in the hell can you be so nasty? What is wrong with your mind that would lead you to be as base as you are being. Your crude discord appears to be centered on your own self-loathing and resentment of others who actually know how to perform and please their audience. Some of you are the lowest of low. And not very bright. Cheers to Anderson and Roe. Don't let the bastards get you down!

Q: How many pianists does it take to play a piece written for one pianist, performable, successfully, by one pianist, which I have performed, myself, with clearer polyphony than this recording?
@bourgeoisique: these two are solely known for their performances as a duet. Considering their ability on a piano, there is probably no doubt that they can play this without each other. but by being a duet. they prefer to play together. There is no need to be rude and to boast about your "skill" that obviously is not shown anywhere on youtube. So leave this duet to play as they please. And this amazing duet and composition do not deserve such comments.
Barber wrote his collection "Souvenirs" for 1 piano, 4 hands. He arranged the pieces for solo, as well. The 4-hand version is better. You should try it.
Oh, the ever pharasaical bourgeois (reference to your username, in case you weren't smart enough to figure that out)... go door-to-door telling people that you can play the piano. maybe that way you'll get the attention you're looking for, you pathetic troll.
oh dear, this is just wonderful stuff. my thanks to lvb1770 for favoriting the duo's Mozart 2-piano sonata K448, otherwise I might never have known. The end of this pas de deux video is simply inspired.

Why does the audio sound like it's coming off an LP record? The rumble and ticks are particularly noticeable at the start and makes me wonder who the real performers are.
We added the LP "rumble and ticks" to give this video a timeworn aura. Barber wanted the piece to evoke a sense of nostalgia, and we wanted our video to do the same.
Ah, nice creative touch. Through me for a minute there, tho - especially since the video was so stylized.
The performance is quite nice, thanks for sharing. I would like to hear a tad more distinction between the two voices in measures 24-28 and later, but that might just be a limitation of the audio recording and/or compression.
eco001, You would like to hear a tad more distinction between the two voices in measures 24-28? Come on DUDE! It's 4 frickin bars and who are you to give them advice? Please shut up!
Setting aside for the moment the peculiarity of your heated response given the absence of knowing if A&R would feel at all put out by what I wrote - If one doesn't want honest criticism, why post a performance on an open forum? The poor audio quality of the medium precludes serious listening. So unless one is merely seeking validation to prop up a fragile ego, I should think a good tip here and there would be welcome. YouTube can be one big Master class, no?
eco001, Ah, you have a point. Mastering the audio properly is critical. The microphones, their placement and preamps on the mixer are so important to capture dynamics. Then the issue of what software to use and how to use it comes up when compressing video. I like Sorenson squeeze but it depends on your budget. Yes, You Tube to me, is one big master class. I met Scriabin's Great Grandson on You Tube! Peace.
@eco001 : In my very personal opinion the noise, scratches, etc. are an intentional effect to make this video look like an "oldie", even filmend somewhere between B&W and sepia; the props, clothes and, by all means the music make me feel in the past. Isn't it possible that the negative votes were "typos", I mean both litlle hands are too close one another. I would show this comment in a permanent basis. Sorry to disagree.
You can always take a look at it first to see if you think It was played well enough to appear, but generally any extra traffic is good traffic for BOTH of us:) Plus I think I made my video pretty classy, i was wearing a suit ^_^
Hey there, I loved your video of this ^_^ I recorded myself playing the piece as well, it's a very night 20th century piece, it's hard to find such a lyrical song in this era. Anyway ^_^ Hopefully you'll accept my request to post my own rendition of this piece as a video response.

you can't even spell the word correctly, never mind actually using the correct word. If u have something constructive to add then great, otherwise you don't criticize, you hypocrite
The point is that ther was no point to what you were saying. And by the way, your such a nice person, criticising, making fun of people, and insulting people. This conversation is futile. I am trying to tell you that what you wrote wasn't exactly the nicest thing to write, and you reply by insulting me. There is no reason for me to continue this conversation. You're simply a cruel person. Full stop.
I don't know that much about this specific piece, but I listened to you playing it 5 times, and I suggest you go with a softer sound. The piece has a haunting touch sometimes that sounds melodramatic in your performance.
I like faster rolls.
THANKS FOR POSTING IT. It's so lovely to see two people play together so beautifully. I hope I can find a partener too.
holy crap....that was the most sexy piano duo video i've EVER seen...I was just looking this song up because i'm learning it and wanted to see how they made the dual voices sound like two separate hands....well in this video they WERE two different hands...that doesn't help me to much, but wow very nice performance!
I felt that the video could have been alot more emotional if it was slowed down, especially on the third page. The climax was very brief and the song sounded a bit ahead of tempo. Besides that, I liked it
Another note, on the third page at bar 25 Barber specifically instructs with the words, "moving slightly forward." Maybe you are speaking of the video production
Don't get me wrong; I liked the video, but I thought that the song was played a bit faster then how I interpret it.
When I said the climax of the song, I meant bars 30-32. I play that part louder with more sostenuto. Overall, I liked the video, and I thought it was well played.
So they play it faster than you do, so what. By the way, it is not a song, it is a composition.
In bars 30-32 Barber marks espr. on the last two eighth notes. I am sorry to be blunt but you should not be trying to give advice on how to play this composition to Anderson & Roe.
