  • I'm new to the bikes what would be a good bike to start with I'm loving this one

  • I just bought a 2008 SV650sf with 5000 miles on it and about $1000 worth of aftermarket parts for $3500

  • before i bought my first bike, i hated half-faired bikes (hornet s, fz6s) but now i like all of them.

especially the front view of this SV, looks mean as hell :D

  • SV 650s is Simple the Best!!!!!!

  • What's the thing protruding from the gas cap?

  • @billyedtimmy1 it's a camera holder.

  • We all know that the tank holds liquid, not gas....

  • dude i live in canada and this is a great bike!! iI just sold an 02' with 17000kms and got 5 grand for it so don't sell yourself short! it's a super nice bike to ride!!!

  • sweet bike! how would something like this make for a starter bike?

  • sweet bike! would somethin like this make a good starter bike?

  • nice bike...i just bought mine tonight it came with full fairing its almost identical to a gsxr 600

  • 05 with 23k miles asking $4k, is that too much??

  • @smartcocker unless it's been taken good care of, but that's still too much. i got mine at 4k miles for less than $4000

  • @dehahs I got a 08 suzuki sv650 with 2k miles for $3800 grat condition.

  • @dehahs found one on craigslist for my area...2008 with 460 miles and aftermarket exhaust for $4000, havent checked it out but im sure there's a catch unless the guy is truely a complete idiot

  • @smartcocker in 2008 I got an 04 for 4200. it had 4500 miles. The guy threw in a chin spoiler and a seat cowl.

  • @smartcocker

word. I've been scoping these out of Craigslist around Tucson, some get up over the $4,000 mark but there are more reasonable ads for around $3,000. All signs point to me getting this bike. Insurance is less on this than a GS500F, go figure.

  • @smartcocker I'm buying an 04 with 8700miles for 3k

  • Great bike, I had one from 06-09. Probably one of the worst sounding factory exhausts though.

  • Nice bike, Igot the same one, same year and colour.

  • sv1000...ive not heard the best from them and the actually they discontinued making them and for the price there r much better bikes out there. sv650 on the other hand is a light playful bike that with a decent rider will stick on the ass of any SS 600 and dominate in turns. Wouldnt call it slow either 0-60 in 3 sec and a max speed of 145 is no push over.

  • I have got a GSXR 600 k1 , but i love this bikes very much if they had a little bit of more power i surely both 1 of this !!!!

  • What about getting the SV1000?

  • Terra , my friend has an sv 1000 ,it is very powerful dont go for the sv 650 if you want speed !!!!! but if you want a bike for comfort and a sunday ride its very good the sv 650 if you want speed Gsxr 600 its better than 650 .goodluck

  • I'm after a 650 as a comfortable bike to take a passenger on (the DRZ400 doesn't really meet the comfort standard). Sports bikes like the GSXR are too small for lanky guys like me)

    Thanks for the tip though.

  • Its true sport bikes are not comfortable ,if i was you get what you like most !!!

  • Nice bike my brother just got a 04 also but with the fairings and the Low Profile License plate I gotta say its the best Beginner bike ive ever Ridden or Seen! But im thinking of getting a FZ6 myself =P!

  • if shes not gonna wear any panties, you might as well remove her bra...

  • get the extra fairings ma'fucka

  • He doesn't want extra cheese.

  • These bikes look half-built, the full fairing or the naked non fairing version are way better

  • no pickles???

  • No pickles either.

  • no way! nekkid FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is beatyfull bike :D !!! but on real is small :-P

  • I've seen these bikes with an added fairing and they look great.

  • yeah, theres a few companies that make the lower fairing. Sharkskinz is one. I don't know the other. They look sharp

  • very nice and clean :)

i have an 05 in the same blue colour and previously had an all silver 03 :)

    good bikes, great fun

  • nice bike. i was thinking of getting on whats the mpg of it?

  • thanks. i believe it's in the mid 40s

  • Ive had like 4 SV's in the past lol so i know some stuff about em. In Arizona City traffic i got around 52, on open highways got around 58, Best ive gotten was a 140 mile stretch of highway gettin 62mpg

  • I love the sv. Great bikes for sure. I've never read anything bad about them. I'm buying one this spring!!!

  • yes they are. good for you!

  • recently passed my test and was gunna get a bandit 600 then i seen these an like them .... what would you say is best. ???

  • SV Baby! I love my SV! Fast as snot. Btw, the 05 model year was the first to have black rims and frame. I have an 04 based on the serial number and it's silver.

  • u may have bought that bike in 04, but its of the 03 year. you can tell a difference because in 04 they changed the frame and rims to black

  • no its an 04 they changed the wheels in 05 and the 03's had suzuki written on the tank rather than just the S....I have that same bike

  • You being a Suzuki guy, I am torn about which bike to buy. An 05 Katana600 or a 05 SV650s. Which and why would you choose the SV over the Katana? What do you like about the SV? Any help would maybe help me deside.

  • My primary reason for choosing the SV over the Katana would aesthetic. More importantly though, the Katana is heavier. And since the SV already feels on the heavy side compared to "normal" sportbikes, I guess the Katana might not be as maneuverable. Seems like both are good mid-range bikes though.

  • can o tuna ya mean? katana's are hideous and weigh over 450lbs. I would pick the sv any day over the katana, besides, who NEEDS to do more than like 135 mph anyways? I know I don't, do urself a favor and get an sv

  • Katana use carburetors. 2k3+ SV650's are Fuel injected. Save yourself the headache of carb maintenance and go FI. konafoci is right, the SV is lighter on it's feet but the Katana are considered sport touring, which should be more comfy if you're riding long distances primarily. SV's are better around local/city sprints/stop and go. If you can handle the weight, check out suzuki's new GSX650F. It's a tuned up, FI, Bandit with GSX-R style fairings. Heavy at a stop but good once rolling.

  • I am picking up an 03 svs in copper with about 1k in mods for 3 grand, katanas are cheaper but MOST 2nd gen svs are right around there, just depends on if you want naked or faired, your gonna want the s though cuz its the sportier version. SV engines require valve adjustment every 15k katanas is like 5k, So you got a great looking, highly supported, quick, real world bike that will handle over 100k miles with minimal problems and maintenance seems the sv wins hands down. btw Sv's weigh 372 dry

  • where are you getting your information that SV's will handle over 100k miles with minimal problems?

  • I think the Katana is ugly! And they're massive, but they're an inline 4 versus the v-twin on the SV.
