@JJ75JI - Myself and a good friend who keeps several Eel species both thought M. aral at first but on closer inspection of both of my fish there are to many differences although quite subtle but enough to satisfy myself (for now at least) that it isnt M. aral.
I am hoping to net both fish and get some better pics of them soon as both fish have started to grow and have developed a quite big girth to their bodies.
In my opinion this is a Macrognathus aral, i kept one from India a year ago. But it lookes a bit different from mine, maybe it´s a closely related species. Ralf Britz is currently working on the genus Macrognathus, he descibed four new species from Myanmar last year and another one this year. I will take a look if one of them lookes like yours.
I´ve took a look on the pictures of the new species, but there is no comparable one.
So this one is either M. aral or an undescribed species.
