  • @colmaoab

Yes, and so you go to every singer's page to state it. People who read your comments on Pavarotti's and Domingo's pages might be interested, because oftentimes they don't know anyone else. But people who listen to Kraus usually know exactly who they like and why.

  • @5150machuk ?CUANDO ESCUCHAS UNA FURTIVA LAGRIMA POR LANZA O KRAUS, CUAL VERSION TE GUSTA MAS , LA DE LANZA O LA DE KRAUS? DIME SENCILLAMENTE UN NOMBRE.

PARA MI LANZA PARA TI ...............

  • @colmaoab

  • @5150machuk TUS DIFERENTES COMENTARIOS ME LLAMAN LA ATENCION PORQUE AL PARACER CONOCES LA TECNICA DEL CANTO. NO PUEDO DIALOGAR CONTIGO EN ESE CAMPO. SOY UN COMPLETO IGNORANTE . YO SOLO ME BASO EN LO QUE PERCIBO POR MEDIO DE MI OIDO,LA EMOCION QUE PONE CUANDO INTERPRETA, LOS OTROS AUNQUE DEBES TENER RAZON EN LO QUE TU DICES RESPECTO A LA TECNICA DEL CANTO NO LLEGAN A LAS NOTAS QUE ALCANZA LANZA O SE QUEDAN CORTOS. POR ALGO LO ASEMEJAN A CARUSO Y ALGUNOS DICEN QUE LO SUPERA.

  • @colmaoab

  • wrong expression for that song..its suppose to be a happy song..its a song that tells how she loves her girl...its not a FUNERAL SONG!!

  • @belcantosinger10 True. I heard Placido Domingo explaining this to a student tenor during one of the intermissions featured during that unforgettable TV coverage of the Met's 100th Anniversary Gala (This was quite a while ago). Domingo would listen to various young tenors, sopranos, mezzo's, etc. and he would offer advice after carefully listening to them. This kid had a very nice (light) voice, but Placido told him to lighten up because the aria was about being happy and not about drama.

  • @Reinaldo146 Other than that, I've always admired Kraus, a great lyric tenor, perfect for Nemorino. I never knew why he never made an impact in the opera world in the manner that others did, including Spaniards, such as Carreras, Domingo, Caballe, even Miguel Fleta. Kraus had a beautiful voice matched to a great interpretation gift, yet he never won an operatic "Grand Slam" in the way one remembers Bjorling, Corelli, DiStefano, Callas, Tebaldi, Pavarotti, etc. But it seems like he should've?

  • @Reinaldo146

I think his impact is great for people with good taste and education. But you seem to talk about popularity. He did not work for that, but rather for quality and integrity. He never used any marketing, was not involved in scandals, did not sing with pop stars. Also, your list is quite a mixed bag. Callas was a genius. Most others are known simply as beautiful voices (a couple are known also for ruining their voices). Kraus is remembered as much more than a voice.

  • @nobodyimportant09 I couldn't have chose better words to explain what I think... thanks ;-)

  • @nobodyimportant09 To clarify, I wasn't quite talking about popularity, but rather about impact. For instance, Callas and Corelli were extremely successful in their professional career (which brought them much fame, of course), but only because they were so good that every opera house-fan in the world wanted them. This, I would think, is what made Bjorling, del Monaco, Gobbi, Caballe, Sutherland, Tebaldi, Freni and the list can go on and on, super known and wanted opera stars. Why not Kraus?

  • @nobodyimportant09 And, again, I ask the question because I listen to the guy and I cannot comprehend why isn't he on a pedestal as high as any of the others. He had a sublime, delicate, accurate and, most of all, MELODIOUS voice, even singing correctly (Pavarotti sounded "melodious", but not everything came out of his chest, necessarily; ditto for Bocelli). Do people typically favor power over subtlety? I never saw Kraus in person, so I don't know if he could fill a theater over the orchestra.

  • @Reinaldo146 I'm not really sure what you define as a 'pedestal'. From where i look, he seems more on a pedestal than some others you have listed. I never saw Kraus live either, but from what i've read, if he could not comfortably fill a theater over the orchestra in some role, he refused to sing it. Which is why he sang until 70. ( And how did Bocelli get into this discussion? )

  • @nobodyimportant09 By "pedestal" I mean revered to the level like Callas or Corelli, etc. I mentioned Bocelli because, like Pavarotti to a degree, he sounds more melodious than most serious singers, but that's just the nature of the beast with singing from the chest. I absolutely love the sound of Bocelli's "Mussetta, o joia della mia dimora" from Leoncavallo's La Boheme. So melodious, so sweet, so appealing to all ears, yet, not correct, not true opera singing, but pretty...che vai fare...

  • In fact i think Alfredo Kraus is one of the most underrated tenors of the world.

  • @dziemian Absolutely!!!

  • Kraus was one of the greatest tenors of this century. Listen to that pure tone -- the youthful vibrato; He was 61 at the time of this recording! Technique for days and a beautifully committed delivery. By the end of this video you'll be crying. A voice lesson for us all. Thank you, Alfredo.

  • Listen to how pure his tone is - the vibrato of a man 30 years younger. He was 61!! Technique for days, and such tender interpretation, such dignity. Kraus is one of the great singers of this century. How lucky we are to have so many recordings of his work.

  • El mejor tenor del mundo!

  • the best tenor voice

  • Splendido!

    Grande e appassionato Kraus!

    Emozionante.

    Ottimo a pieni voti: 5*****

    Grazie per post

    ...a Fan ...

  • Grazie Jeanmolin ...

  • mllval.Emotivo video.Hoy lo he puesto en mi blog.Enhorabuena al autor

  • Beautiful. Just beautiful. Bravo. Thanks for uploading.

  • quis178 you are a fucking dumbass for saying that Kraus is miles ahead in terms of "dynamic shading, phrasing, legato, rubato, tonal coloring".......ARE YOU ON CRACK!!?? I'm not saying that Kraus is bad because he clearly is one of the best ever to lay claim to this aria and to the role but for you to make those statements about Pav demonstrates lunacy on your part!!!!! Sheer LUNACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Pavarotti is so bloody boring! He was born with a beautiful voice.Big deal!In terms of dynamic shading, phrasing, legato, rubato, tonal coloring Kraus is miles ahead.''Pav.'' fans consider Pavarotti the best because they know very little about opera and classical music in general;thus they only listen to easy-listening tenors like Pavarotti.

  • Webarton states: "I love how people insist that one singers voice is more beautiful...no singers voice is more beautiful...etc...gibberish...blah blah"

....clearly Webarton is married to an ugly woman or he wouldn't espouse this egalitarioan crap online....PAVAROTTI TOWERED OVER KRAUS.....Pavarotti will go down in history...Kraus will always be a footnote...he just wasn't in the same league......

...and YES Angelina Jollie is more beautiful than your wife...just face it...LOL!!!

  • referring to cruncho11

  • Pavarotti was in ALL ways superior to Kraus...any comparison of the Grand Maestro to Kraus is absurd...they are not in the same league....infact Pavarotti is in a league of his own.....the sheer beauty of his voice totally eclipses and outshines Kraus. Kraus has a whinning and nasal and unpleasant voice. In fact he sounds terrible. Pavaotti's legato line, resonance, high notes, diction, phrasing, vebrato, so on and so forth are far superior to Kraus.

  • as mhoeler said before...Kraus was a better singer... Pavarotti voice was more beautiful.. really people that dont have a clue about singing shouldnt talk about it as if they know anything...thank God ur a radiologist!

  • ....Your comment reminds me of a famous Mark Twain quote: Wagner's music is better than it sounds!

...I guess you are saying that Kraus' singing is better than it sounds...

....you clearly are a real cognescetti....yeah right! LOL!!

  • In my opinion, Kraus was better (within his repertoire). The voice is just a matter of taste, but Kraus's technic was slightly better than Pavarotti's, that's a fact with evidences such as cancellations, crackings and also age.

  • I love how people insist that one singers voice is, and i QUOTE, more "beautiful" than anothers... no singers voice is more BEAUTIFUL than anothers... when you speak about power, ability, technique, this is different story, but beauty? you are dealing with the most subjective thing ever.

  • I agree, you could make an argument that one performer maybe interprets better than another but that's also very subjective. All these guys paid their dues, they were/are all world class musicians, picking one over another is a matter of taste.

  • complete idiot. and I am not even kidding on this one.

  • U still dont understand.... Kraus technique in singing was better than Pavarottis..but... Pavarotti was born with a more beautiful colour of voice for some

  • its true Pav had the best natural placement ever, but Kraus' technique preserved his voice the best by far.

  • I half agree with you though, I would not be incline to say that luciano had the best natural placement ever, he actually had troubles sometimes with the placement of his high notes, there are many examples here on you tube and some half cracking from him. To me, Kraus´s tecnique was not only humble, it was a master tecnique. Kraus was a maestro, pavarotti had other skills.

  • You, my friend,

    are an idiot.

  • That was for

    radiologist301

um... LOL I JUST REALIZED I ALREADY INSULTED HIM ON THIS PAGE HAHAHA

  • EL mejor tenor que ha dado España...

    EL MAS GRANDE!!

  • increible a est edad cantar asi

  • tengo conciertos de kraus en argentina,chile,peru,españa,documentales biograficos,operas completas,peliculas,discografia completa,interesados escribanme

  • don´t be so sure about it.

  • Pavarotti had a better voice but Kraus was the better singer.

  • I absolutely agree with mhoeler.

  • The best tenors ever: Caruso, Bjorling, Kraus and Bergonzi. There ere others, no doubt, and there will be more, but I believe these were the greatest. There are more that can be mentioned but these had perfect technique, great timbre and a unique approach to the excellence of singing.

  • Qué grandioso era Kraus.

  • Whta was the ocassion?

  • GRAN ejemplo siempre.

  • Viva, maestro!

  • Voz sin igual! de kraus a Placido! Los mejores!

  • Muchas gracias Onegin por compartir este vídeo.

    Cuantísima belleza ! !

  • The Master at his best.
