  • Screw the Nobs who dislike This!

  • see my cover

  • How do you pick the fast parts? There is always one note in the 01:18 I can't pick, but the other ones I can play just fine.

This solo was so easy to hear out being a blues player =D

  • @mattman1127 Just plain 'ol combination of pulloffs and just some fast picking. I've never seen you playing it, but I can already tell what note you can't pick. Just practice, that's all.

  • @Yesterdayss I got up this morning and for some reason I can magically pick it now, same kinda thing happened with My Last Words, got home one day and it just... happened. Your video help a lot though, good quality.

  • what equipment did you use to set the sound? I just love how it sounds

  • @shicgh Really? I hate how it sounds haha. Using a piece of shit amp (Line 6 spider II 112) and a simple Samsung photocamera which I found at my local skatepark. It had two pictures of dicks on it when I found it. Make sure yours has those too, for the best sound.

    I am not kidding.

  • FUCK THAT LES PAUL!!!!

  • @Panterallica1 And why?

  • @Panterallica1 It's just not metal...

  • @Panterallica1 True. But Hammett uses a LP on stage for Fade to Black and Nothing Else Matters. It may not be metal, but if that is what Kirk uses for this song, it is perfectly acceptable for this song. Check the Live in Mexico 2009 DVD.

  • pretty sweet man, check out my cover

  • is this solo really easy ?? never tried -.- ... can play the unforgiven solo, and symphony of destruction by megadeth

  • @prkhitman its easy but you have to nail the notes very fast, thats the only complex thing of it, but basically it is just pentatonic scale.

  • very nice cover!

  • Hey is that an Epiphone Les Paul Standard?

    Awesome cover :D

  • Awesome Cover!!

  • Is this epiphone or gibson? cool cover btw i like it realy :))

  • Sure.

G string 9th fret full bend.

    E string 7th.

    B string 10th pull off to 7th.

    Repeat!

Sorry if that sucks but it's 2.30 am here in Belguim and i'm on my phone. No smartphone or shit, just a simple nokia so yeah, typing this sucks ass.

  • Can you help me out, yet I know this is a lick Metallica uses a lot, but I can't figure out by ear how he plays it, could you tab the part at 0:41 - 0:43 for me ? I can figure out by ear what he does, but the way I play it just don't seem right

  • Does anyone know how to stand up while playing solos on the really high frets. I've been playing guitar for a while and thought I was getting quite good with solos like this one, but I tried standing and it's so awkward.. Will it just take time to get used to it or is there an act to it?

  • Awesome cover man, one of the best around. Please check out my go at it.

  • Hey man, I've been playing this solo for quite a while now, but I don't know how to play the fast bit where you bend the 9th fret on the 3rd string and play 7 on the 1st string, 10 on the 2nd string, and then 7 on the 2nd and repeat. My baby finger is a small bit double-jointed and I can't move it as fast as my other fingers. Do you have any tips on playing that part of the solo? Thanks

  • how the fuck can some one dislike this................ rock on dude

  • the dislike bar is the size of justin biebers penis

  • @tomasveit67 funny thing is, your probably still complimenting him

  • @tomasveit67 so is your dick teehee

  • @tomasveit67 getting to long :/

  • @tomasveit67 nope his is even smaller

  • very good !!

see my cover of fade to black in my channell ;)

  • I have a question! I hope you can help me

When I am playing this incredible solo, at the end, ( in your video part that starts at 1:19 and on...) you have to play on strings B and e, so when I play the 12 fret on B string, the sounds remains as I play the notes on e strings, and doesnt sound clearly.... How do you do to make that notes from string B dont sounds as you play the notes on e strings? mute?? I also tried to mute but...doesnt sound good actually.

    Hope you can help me!

    Keep Rocking!

  • @mikegf16

Let's see .. Ehm, I actually have no idea what I'm doing there, so I'm gonna play that part again right now to see what I did. I'll give you some pointers in five minutes or so.

  • @mikegf16 Got it. I use my thumb om my right hand (holding my pick) to stop the string. It's really not that hard actually, you just slam that string silly when returning to the 12th fret on the high E.

  • @Yesterdayss

Thank you very much!! I am going to practice it! I will upload a cover playing the solo, and I will notice you!!

    Thank you very much!!!

    Greetings from spain

  • good!!!

  • dude, why can't I do this ?

  • Comment removed

  • the power of the les paul!!! :)

  • awesome man you played very good!!!

  • where did u get the drums?

  • easy ass solo to cover, but fun to play cuz of the song

  • @r1chie311music

    Agreed

  • @r1chie311music easy solo my ass. when i am watching the guitar pro tabs play on i just stare at it and thinking, what the hell?

  • @UzumakiNarutoKun96 practice makes perfect my friend you put in the time and youll be able to play this with your eyes shut!

  • @UzumakiNarutoKun96 This is actually really easy to play. Don't let some fast bits intimidate you, in this solo those fast parts are the easiest to play.

  • @Yesterdayss mm i guess it depends how good you are but i can no solos that are at this speed or this long. in fact the best solo i can is the intro solo in this song.

  • perfect man!!!

  • Nice. Probably best cover on YouTube. I'm glad in the first fast part you played it right, starting from b on the e string instead of just pulling off from a to f#, like most of the other covers. Again, nice.

  • nice one mate. Used to play that solo a lost and thought i had it nailed but you've just inspired me to get it perfect. Sounded spot on. Great job!!

  • There was one thing I saw u did wrong. The first part were you play on more than one string is actually a roll, not a multi-string tap. It was real close though very nice job.

  • @urple7

I have to admit I really don't know what the hell a roll is

  • @Yesterdayss

nevermind it doesnt matter. u did a good job.

  • @Yesterdayss lol a roll is were u roll ur finger from one string to another string on the same fret

  • fuckin sick.. .the best solo of all time in my opinion

  • FAKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • @MrAngelPetrov

    Lol wut

  • First one to ever play it right on here. check mine out bro.

  • this is friggin sick maN!!!!! Are there any proper tabs taht you used ?? thanks and again Excellent job!

  • it's an epiphone

  • i like your les paul¡¡¡¡¡

  • just like hammett in the 80's

  • just beautiful!!

  • yeeeah !!! amazing !! congratulations !!!! ( beautiful guitar too !!

  • yeeeeeeeeeee

  • GREAT cover man.sounds like the HAMMETT solo.maybe you can do a lesson on this solo.btw nice solo bro

  • belle guitare , trèèèssss belle musique , très belle interprétation ..... que demandé de mieux

    bravo mec :)

  • you sounded a little out of toon

  • that ending sucked monkeyballs :DD

  • rock n roll 5/5

  • nice guitar

  • Awesome, you're badass!

    5 stars man

  • This was spot on man. You NAILED this! Keep up the good work dude. What kind of amp are you using? It has a really good sound.

  • wow. that was insanely good. nice les paul bro.

  • dude that was just about perfect how long you been playing

  • Great job man.. i personally started with Metallica's Unforgiven as my first solo. i have only been playing for about 1 year now and my guitar had an accident..... i need a replacement... any tips on what i should get? (i am not a rich man)

  • I like schecters, they get a good sound. There not too expensive, around like $400+ depending on what you get

  • great cover ,beautifull guitar

  • hey bro, how long did it take you to get the solo down.

  • Hard to say, since I started practicing it from literally day 1. I'd say, about 6 months to get it down, another 6 to REALLY get it down and try to make it perfect and all.

So, one year from the first day I played the guitar.

  • Nicee cover, hey idk what this is called or anything, but you know if ur covering a song, the backround music, like the drums, and stuff, but YOU play the guitar bits, how do i get that? I hear you have it like the drumming, i really dont know how to explain it, help me out? :S

  • @Yesterdayss we are on same

  • @Yesterdayss thats freakin cool i mean a long time but from day 1? wow thats pretty impressdive ive been playin bout 2 years and i nailed t in like a month but still tryin to get that perfect sound (shows how good u r i got a esp kh-2)

  • @Yesterdayss

how did you go about it, did you watch vidz or just look from a tab?

  • @xXessendonXx

Both. I looked at tabs, but first I made sure they were correct, since there are a shitload of fade to black-covers here on Youtube which are ABSOLUTELY wrong. Wrong timing, wrong notes, everything. I wanted my solo to be exactly the same as Hammett's.

  • Awesome, great job, 5/5.

  • I have practised, practised, practised, as you said, and this is the final result, not NEARLY as good as yours, cause you are my guitar idol lol, but I have done my best: (little delayed)

    /watch?v=CxOClQhW0dc

  • wooaahh...awesomee

  • thats fuckin beautifuk. but at that first repetative bend thing do you use alternate or economy picking?

  • I have no idea what the hell economy picking is, but I do it like this.

I pick the 7th on the high E, then the 10th on the B string & do a pull off to the 7th fret on the B and then I pick the 9th fret on the G string.

  • Really nice!

I have been trying, i just cant play the pulloff followed by a bend that u do almost on beggining....how did u manage to train that? Just intensive practise or any other tip u got for me xD?

  • practice practice practice!

I don't know, I just started doing it slow and speeding it up from there, just like, let's say, everyone else =D. Practice makes perfect, holmes!

  • Hey again,.,,,,i followed your advice, practise, practise, practise, and it seemed to have worked lol....you kinda gave me the motivation to go on and i finaly played it all with almost no mitsakes xD

Thanks man,you are an inspiration for me.

  • @MrOlaolala

I don't know if you already learned it, but you can play it this way: make the bend at the G-string with your second and third finger, next to each other. Hit it with a downstroke. Then hit the e-string with an upstroke, then the B-string with a downstroke on the 10th fret and pull off with your fourth finger to the 7the fret. Then repeat. :) And after doing that three times or so switch to the B string after the bend.

  • Seems beter, ill give i a try

Really thanks for the tips xD

  • nice guitar

  • wow dude that was really well done i actually just finished learning the solo and i am just trying to clean it up and perfect it, 5 outta 5 dude!

  • Awesome!

  • lol agree...u bastard do make it look easy but ur amazing bro keep it up im learning the solo myself almost done =)

  • Bastard you make it loook so easy!

But good job though im trying to learn the solo and i wanted to check out some techniques and im going to use yours.

yours seems like the best. :)

  • Now that's a hell of a compliment!

  • wow..fucking incredible

  • The only part i could never get is at 1:25, I still need to work on that and awesome job dude

  • oh man awesome man =) u are really good and the ending wasnt bad! u rocks!

  • good job , really great cover

  • why you changed some parts of the solo for example the tremolos in the bending or the final pentatonic scale before the ending

  • Dude, I didn't change anything.

  • nono listen to the song and u will figure out what I'm talking about

  • Yeah, I changed it from 1:44 til the end, but that's because in the song, that part fades out (don't ask me why) & I don't consider it to be a part of THE solo.

Please don't hate cause of that!

  • that was hella good, how did u learn to play it???

  • One word:

    GUITARPRO!

  • i have that

    it rocks!

  • your awesome man!

  • you are veeery good! i wish i could be so good one day!

  • It could have been a bit louder. 5/5

  • You've just become my inspiration to start playing the guitar! Thank you!

  • Best compliment ever!

  • Holy shit man you are one of the best guitarists I have seen on here if not the best. You should do a cover of Steve Vai's For the Love of God I think it would fit your style well. 5*s and favorited!

  • Love Vai and all, think his I'm the hell outta here is pure art, but dude, he is way out of my playingleague

  • Very nice and came out smooth.

  • the ending wasnt bad>!LOL

  • Yeah, just got this on my ipod, if fades out......Still an AMAZING song though, where'd you get tabs?

  • did get the tab from total guitar? nice cover btw

  • Very nice

  • Dude you're awesome keep playing cause if you stopped rock would lose one great guitarist

  • Damn. I cannot tell you how much this made me happy. Thanks man!

  • Excellent, decent ending too :P

  • please watch both my versions of this, because i have one with sonata artica backing track which sounds kool =]

  • dude your freakin' awesome you do it just like krik only to bad that you didn't put the wah it's really missing...although your very very good and you should keep the videos coming

  • first of all: thanks!

second: I don't remember Kirk using a wah pedal in the fade to black solo. Actually I'm pretty sure he didn't use one.

  • awesome check mine out :D its improv

  • very good solo cover! :)

  • this was sick, check out my version of the solo ;)

  • dude why u say the end suxs? You nailed it almost perfectly :D 5/5

  • who me? i said i hate how on the real song that it fades out.

  • Good cover dude i hate how the make the ending fade out the should have finished the song with something else. my les paul like yours snapped in half cause some dude pushed of the stand so i got it fixed then i got it back and then i put it on my wall hanger. then exactly one week later (around the same time and everything) the wall hangar along with the guitar and broke it... agian.

  • @x1cmb11: that sucks :S

  • both times it wasnt my fault so i was about to get a new guitar before it broke So now because the way it cant be fixed< i Have to get a new one.

  • what did u do to the guy that broke it?

  • i beat his ass!nah im kiding but i did make him cry but i got my new eist sg :) its beast ill have to but a new video on

  • i loved the tone of your guitar dude! and you play it just like me...but i play it on a acoustic, that's the only difference XD

  • proably one of my top 5 favorite solos of all time

  • Awesome job :D

  • hey ive been playing guitar two years going on three. i wanna start playing lead and learning solos and shit. what do you recommend starting off for practice? because i wanna do fade to blacks solo so bad..

  • Since youve already been playing for two years, I would reckon you know how to do pulloffs and hammerons and so on. Sooooo I would recommend you just start with the fade to black solo. When I just started playing, i was already trying this solo and since you've been playing for two years, I think this will be rather easy for you.

The only hard part is at 00:41 (in my opinion), so if you can play that, you got it nailed.

  • lol i play about 1 year and i know to play easily this solo :D

  • you self taught or lessons ?

  • self taught ^^

  • not to sound like a smartass but y dont u post it?

  • haha...my internet sux dude D:

  • yeah, that was an awesome cover dude.

    keep up the good work

  • Nice video, real smooth playin. Peace man

  • love ur les pauls

when its les pauls u know it rock \m/

  • woah watch that bend at 1:12, but still amazing cover, keep it up man! one of the best ive seen so far!

  • is this song in standard tunnig?

  • Yes. Live versions are often tuned down a bit (probably to save James' voice)

  • So true.

  • i cant wit til i try and learn this song. i've learnt sanitarium and i might put my 1st guitar video up (once i have prepared myself for extreme critisism) fuckin' good playing dude.

  • How long have you been playing? Based on how well polished your technique looks im guessing a while.

  • I recorded this when I was playing for two & a half years.

Been playing for 3,25 years now!

  • yeah!! one of the best covers of this song

  • can you make lesson plllllllllleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaassssssssssseeeeeee???btw you are one of the best guitar players i have ever seen =)

  • you make it look so easy, how long did it take to learn? and how long you been playing?

  • Been playing for three years and three months now. & thanks!

  • Is 0:58 to 1:05 the hardest part to you? I think it's the hardest part in the solo. Nice guitar by the way, Epi or Gibson?

  • Yes, it is (to me)!

& it's an Epiphone by the way

  • fucking crazy man... great cover ;D keep it up!!

  • EXCELLENT

  • shweet. Ill submit mine soon!

  • awesome.

  • very nice, you look like slash with the les paul and your hand, very well coverd

  • nice job man!!!, i can play it too...gotta get them triplets down! kirk is the best.

What les paul is that? a custom? epi or gibson?

I got a Les Paul Standard. i like your finish on yours it looks sick!

  • That's an Epiphone Les Paul Standard Cherry Sunburst, my friend. Some Epi's are better than Gibsons in my opinion.

    & thanks man!
