Guyver was the very first anime that I had the pleasure of watching and at 9 years old I was hooked. This, Tekkaman Blade, Dragonball, Ronin Warriors, Dragon Warrior (which came on sundays on channel 57 for those who lived in philly in the 90's), Macron 1, Robotech (Macross) all started me on being an anime freak.

The OVA episodes, by the way what the hell is "Out of Control" I thought It was a movie version where Sho fights a girl Guyver. But can someone inform me about the other OVA episodes. I know I seem like a noob at this but Ive seen all the first OVA season so Iam not totally noob.

hate to break it to YOU reaperguyver, but this IS the ova. you are right, there was a film, but both the 12 part series and the out of control movie were OVA, cause OVA stands for original video animation, cause it went direct to home video for the title.

The english voice casting(6 vhs's by US Renditions)(Not screw up redubb by Manga entertainment dvd version) as well as character looking animation for this series blows the 2005 version away!!!
The way the charcters look in the new 2005 version they look like any anime character nowadays,In this series they looked unique.They didn't blend in with every other anime charcter by the way they were animated
well this version is in the style that was prevalent at the time as well. I like both the old and new series on different grounds, the older series was more brutal especially in the first Enzyme battle, it's brilliantly painful to watch.
But I also like the new series character development between Sho and his father Fumio, it made the events of the second arch much more personal

The Manga ent. op/ed is horrible (even though I like the music a little bit, I think they completely raped the visuals), but I think they included the original OP and ED in their dvds, didn't they? Too bad the dvds are kinda impossible to find now :(
About the mp3: someone had uploaded the complete song here, and even posted it as a response to this video. How they got banned and I didn't is totally beyond me.
@shiro80 The song is called "Strange Angel Milestone" or "Michishirube Igyou no tenshi" by Kenichi Ishihara. It's included on the "Gundam 21st Century" OST (also the one from the intro). You can get the MP3 on anime forums like mcanime.net or search here in YouTube with the name of the OST. It's track 9.
i made the mistake of renting the Manga ent versions and i was so pissed off they changed the OP and ED do they always do that screw with the classics!

I like the 2005 version, specially the chara design and visual effects, which are very very cool.
It does, however, feel more like an action anime to me than a horror/sci-fi one. The old series had a better spooky atmosphere, and a better "cut-the-crap-let's-fight" attitude.
Both are GREAT stuff, though. Try and watch the original series, you might enjoy it if you can overlook the "inferior" animation.
I'm trying to get the dvd for this so I can rip the audio in a better quality, sorry if it's not 100% good yet. It will be in the future, don't worry!

Guyver Out of Control is actually the earliest anime adaptation based from Guyver manga series, it came out before the release of the OVA series .
