  • lol, Ed looks more hip and better (no homo)

  • Ed is still as terrible as he always way

  • Peter has not changed vocally since '84.

  • I wish that Peter would have hosted Whammy! It would have been greta to have him as the host for nostalgic people that watched the original Press Your Luck in the 80's, maybe if he had gotten the job, the big board would have looked a little bit like the big board from the original Press Your Luck, except with more modern look though.

  • I never knew Tomarken was so short.

  • @StukInBuf It's amazing what camera angles can do

  • Peter Tomarken should have hosted the American version of "The Weakest Link" during its 2002 NBC network run instead of Anne Robinson, who hosted the original BBC version of that said show.

  • Does anyone have the full episode :(

  • If I remember correctly from seeing it on GSN years ago, I believe that Michael's brother won the game.

  • Oh my god! Ed and Jamie (and of course Peter Tomarken) and a damn shame that just 2-3 years prior to this that the Game Show master himself Michael Larson died because he'd be an awesome recontestant but he got himself into trouble anyway and unfortunately died in 1999.

  • PT owned him...just sayin.

  • I actually like this show. I'm glad it's still on GSN.

  • this is the dumbest game I ever saw......

  • @hackajim I disagree. I grew up on the original show and still enjoy in 26 years later. Whammy was good, with the revamped random gameboard, but you simply can't top the original.

  • @hackajim you never saw the board round, where teh real action occured

  • peter tomarken was handsome

  • When will gsn air this season??? I have seen all of the episodes still airing at 630 am weekends, and want to see this episode very badly! Thanks!

  • The look on the (at that time) current host's face when Peter showed up is priceless! Peter Tomarkin simply can't be duplicated.

  • does anyone have the full episode anywhere?

  • I have this on tape. I was happily surprised to see him! I went quiet when I learned of his death.

  • It's hard to believe it's only been 4 years since Peter Tomarken left us, but I still miss him every day. Thanks for the memories and the Whammy, Peter.

    R.I.P. Peter Tomarken (1942-2006)

  • Does anyone have the full episode of this show?

  • come on peter be nice to him your his hero

  • Do you have the second big board round from this episode? If so, I'd really like to see it!

    Oh, RIP Peter!

  • R.I.P. Peter Tomarken, We LOVE YOU!

  • I never knew that Peter was so short until I saw this video... but he definitely was a talented game show host! :-)

  • I never realized that Peter was so short.

  • Wow its hard to believe it been 3 years since Peter died RIP! I love watching him on PYL

  • Peter Tomarken died doing something very honorable, helping out cancer patients. The ultimate whammy got him.

As with many, i too remember Press Your Luck as a kid with the re-runs on USA. Now i see it almost all the time on GSN. I'll miss him.

  • ps, this was also a Larson Rematch special

  • And Michael's brother, James, happened to win this. :)

  • Too bad Michael died of throat cancer in 1999.

  • Yeah. He was a good host on Press Your Luck.

  • Ironic that they showed a clip of Tomarken w/ Michael Larson (the guy who infamously studied the PYL board and went on da show w/ da pattern of the board and won $110,237).

  • it's not ironic at all. They were playing a rematch episode with Janie and Ed, the 2 contestants who lost to Michael in 1984.

  • I want to see the entire episode. lol I want to see how Janie acted for it since I heard she was really pissed at Michael for his win in '84.

  • RIP Peter Tomarken

  • He was cool. To this day, I still call it "Press Your Luck", even with this remake. I really wish I could've seen this ep.

  • Ed really aged well after all these years. Janie packed on a few pounds but still looks good. Really funny to have them back on the show after they got dominated so many years before.

  • RIP micheal larson the 110000 dollar winner and peter tomarken

  • he aged a bit

  • Game show supporters like Us will always remember Peter Tomarken and those Cute Whammy's form the Original Game show..RIP PETE!!

  • yeah whammy sux

  • RIP Micheal Larsen and Pete Tomarken

  • I like seeing old hosts and actors come back to relive the old shows and movies.

  • Apparently in the first spin round of this very episode, James Larson would do his best impression of his brother with the waving arms signalling that he wants to spin again, and the fact that Michael would only yell "STOP!"

  • James....

  • ED

    and Janie look diffrent!

  • WELL....it was about 20 years later...what do you expect?

  • reason michael larson didnt make it to this episode is because he died. the episode was a tribute.. so it wouldnt of happened if he were still alive

  • But it would have been awesome if he could compete again, because in the NEWER Whammy!, there WAS NO pattern. It would have been very interesting to see if he would have made it through five spins without hitting a whammy.

  • Also, it was the 20 year anniversary of Larsen's scandal.

  • Wasn't even the 19th.

  • can someone post this whole episode? or is it already up?

  • he was that short?

  • I wish peter would have done the spin round as well. I wanted to see his reaction to the new whammys

  • too bad Michael Larson couldnt make it for this episode

    R.I.P.

  • OMG! I thought Peter was small, but he was his old self since the seasons. I'm gonna miss that man.

  • R.I.P. Peter Tomarken.

  • Aww I didn't know Peter Tomarken had passed away. =(

God bless him, he was an amazing game show host, and seemed pretty decent a fellow!

    Thanks for posting this. =)

  • What year is this episode from?

  • 2003

  • This was a great episode. It featured Peter, Ed and Janie from the Michael Larson episodes. It was also good to see James Larson his brother in his place.

It liked Peter Tomarken should have been host of this show may have lasted alot longer

  • I remembered Peter Tomarken for 18 years from the year I was born to the year he died.

  • Could anyone post the full episode?

  • @nexttomarken I agree. I cannot find it at all, other than this video.

  • dude picked 'Arrested Development'. Wow.

  • This was awesome. Nice to see him one last time in the ever-famous position as the PYL host. ^^

  • Wow, I never saw this one. But no doubt he was more enthusiastic than Todd. He did it first.

  • just from this clip, peter seems to show a lot more excitement than Todd. scary to think this was Peter's last game show appearance before his death. I'm actually really surprised he didn't get more hosting gigs because he really should have been in high demand with producers. R.I.P. Peter Tomarken

  • Yeah, Peter just didn't get anymore hosting gigs that were nearly as good as the one for PYL. He ended up hosting crap shows as "Wipeout", "Bargain Hunters", etc.-none of which were successful as "Luck" was. Todd Newton's not a bad guy, but I just didn't like his hosting on the remake on GSN "Whammy!"...wish Pete would've done it.

  • I believe at one time he hosted a game show on cable called "Paranoia" or something like that.

  • I seem to recall reading that...plus he also hosted some real-estate infomercials like some dude named Carleton Sheets (and even Happy Days Tom Bosley?) did.

  • I simply CAN"T stand Todd Newton.... He sucks as a GS host.... Peter Rocks... And if the PTB played the age game with Tomarken really suck... Peter is #1/

  • I think that not bringing Peter back as the host was just one of the mistakes GSN made with this show. They changed the shape and speed of the gameboard as well. And, even though it was 2002, they should have still made the whammys look crude. By their definition, a whammy coming in to take your money should look crummy and move in an erratic way.

Just because you have the technology available to change something, doesn't mean that you automatically should.

  • The reason why the producers didn't pick Peter is because he was too old. [at least that's what the rumors are]

  • Actually, my brother worked on the show (and even called me when they were shooting the pilot with Peter), he said that they picked Newton because he was able to shoot an episode without barely screwing up at it (game shows do require retakes shockingly). The pilot took Peter 3 hours to do, and less than an hour for Newton.

  • Peter will be missed by everyone who love Press Your Luck

  • I wonder why Peter didn't get picked to host the revival? He did a pilot for this show, as well as Todd. Of course, I guess they wanted a new face for the whammies.

  • R.I.P. Peter Tomarken

he was my favorite game show host of all time

  • To this day I miss Peter Tomarken. When I found out he died it felt like I lost a family member. It's hard to go on in life knowing that someone I grew up watching on a show I enjoyed as a kid is no longer with us and had to die so tragically. It was like a part my childhood had died. I wish I could go back in time to save him by preventing him getting on that stupid plane.

  • I agree with you ElPaso, but remember that Peter and his wife got on that "stupid plane" in order to pick up a cancer patient, and take her to UCLA Medical Center for treatment. Before the Tomarkens would've arrived to pick her up, the plane malfunctioned and alas crashed into the water. Peter was no "whammy" in real life; he was the real deal! ;-)

  • Peter will Be Missed.
