secretly i always thought riding and taming a real zebra would be cool without any cruelty. and for ones to complain about the ''supposed to be poor zebra'' what about animal pounds or farms or science labs or PETA or animal liberation front? they're not as animal rightous as they seem and not not all farms and pounds harm animals but still why don't you complain about those :l ?????
It's not potentially the first, there's a picture from the 1930s (I think it's the 30s, might be a decade either way) of a woman riding her zebra, who didn't bite and kick her and was very willing by contemporary accounts. Might just be the age at which he was introduced to work?
@crazyhorseyhart But as you can see, it is not trying to escape. And if you look at it this way, people shouldn't have pets in general because all of them have wild ancestors.
Why are you people freaking out over this? The zebra obviously has a good life. No predators, plenty of food and water, vet care. This guy is a professional. At least the animal isn't in some Tijuana side show.
@Samsam2992 i agree,,,, if these people had their way it would be some lions dinner, or infested with parasites, trying its damndest to survive each day..... or ...... it would be a rug on some rich man's floor.
Ask the Zebra what he wants most... food, water, safety ... he has all that.
I want say that horses some time ago was wild animals too.. Some of them still are and anybody says its cruel. But okay, he is too big to ride on this Zebra and this is a problem
@Beth88892 Not necessarily, if you ride properly (i.e. carry yourself properly) you can ride any horse regardless of size. As long as your legs aren't draping across the ground, that is!
Look up "zack the zebra jumping".....much more successful without the usage of spurs or whips. Also, there is a woman on Youtube who keeps and trains zebras...they are as friendly as horses.
ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT. First off, it's NOT entirely new by ANY stretch of the imagination. These days, zebras are being born and bred as riding animals (a quick Google search will tell you all you need to know). Secondly, he never tamed it. It was born in captivity. It wasn't exactly wild. I am UNIMPRESSED!!
And lastly, that man clearly has no idea how to handle equines. Bloody idiot.
Most people say that zebras can't be trained becuase they are "mean" but then most people's idea of "traning" an animal is to beat the shit out of it and make it fear them.
jared diamond made all the excuses under the sun for why africans never domesticated a animal. he has just been proven wrong. breed tat animal and select te tamest offspring and in 3 generations you have stripy horses. lies left wing jewish lies jared diamond.
Yeah... a bit more Horsemanship and a bit more polite handling would get a lot more out of that zebra. And yes it's rearing for a reason. But if it has come so far then with Natural Horsemanship it would go way further. And the zebra could even enjoy this then. Also a rider that isn't that heavy would be good....
@sodalover2012 The zebra was rearing because it was finding the current situation objectionable, not because of something that might or might not happen in the future. Even if it was rearing because it didn't want to be ridden, why does it matter? If you give in to the tantrum and put it away, you're rewarding the behavior with no work. It will then do the behavior every time you try to work with it, because that worked for it before. You will get no training done.
More power to this guy for taming a zebra for riding, but since horses have been domesticated for thousands of years, their backs have evolved to carry weight more easily. Zebras, however, don't have this evolutionary advantage. Doesn't it hurt the zebra's back? Not criticizing... just an observation.
@MrsHeatherJansen ehm, no? zebras ain't like normal horses, they're not build to be ridden. they're not "born" to carry like... 180 pounds on their backs. that's just not right.
@topingtonwilliam4321 Dogs use to be nothing but wild animals, cats, birds, horses, donkeys, goats, rabbits, sheep, and they didnt start off as the perfect human loving pets, but throughout the years they have. Its not animal abuse.

@Rex11m Well alright, I agree with you, but then we shouldn't interact with any animals, they were ALL wild in the beginning, I'm sure if we began taming zebras now - we would look at them as pets in the future, so my point is that if you choose to start arguing about _one_ animal, it'd be wrong taming/capturing ANY animal for our own use, such as animals for transportations, normal pets or as living tools for ourselves. @HelenaNorway I guess you have a very limited way of inferring things. Do you think I'm going to be arguing, as you've said for one specie only? No, I am against all abuse to all animals. @MrChupacabraLoco THTS IT THE DUMBEST THING I EVER HEARD!!!!!!! AND IF U TRIED TOUCHING MY MOmI OWULD BITCH SLAP U AND U NO UR TALKING TO A 10 YEAR OLD RIGHT!
Ummm...am sure it would be possible to tame zebras eventually, the horse was also once wild. But i believe the zebras back isnt strong enough to carry humans -and probably several other reasons the zebras isnt used by humans.
This video is so wrong! My zebras bite and kick "by nature" just as much as any horse I've ever owned. Not all zebras are mean at all, also like horses. You have to TRAIN and BREAK a zebra to ride it. JUST LIKE A HORSE. This was NOT the first time a zebra had been trained at all! Maybe where he lives...since have been trained FOR SURE since the 1980s. He has a mean zebra, well, I've had a mean horse. This video is WRONG and whatever idiot wrote it is either ignorant or very badly informed!
@catstopzebra I love Zebras!! But Just so you understand, Zebras are wild so they will be mean...and this guy is an expert and probably knows more than you do about horses and zebras...even if you do know a lot about them.
@xoxobigbirdxoxo You're right, I do understand that zebras are wild, and so are horses, cats, dogs, fish, lizards, snakes, and every other animal, which are also mean on an animal by animal basis. I consider myself an expert on zebras as much (or more) then the guy in the video, since I own 5 zebras and grew up on a horse farm. And besides, this person isn't a very good horse handler from the snippets I'm seeing.
You know what? I people put that shit in my mouth I would probably put up a good fight as well. The kind of bit they use is some of the harshest and most painful there is, for a regular horse. And that's an animal that doesn't fight against it! Yanking and pulling they way he does is pretty much animal cruelty. No wonder the zebra is now "tame".
i see a lot of people complaining about the bit, but it just looks like a liverpool driving bit, those are one of the nicest bits you can use on a horse, and any bit can rip up a horse's mouth in the wrong hands, even a hackamore
@SkipShoGun Driving the chariot, he's using a Liverpool. Riding, it looks like a Pelham. Both bits allow a good amount of on-the-spot adjustment. The key is always "good hands" of course. Some have them; some don't.
That would be badass to breed and domesticate big zebras. I think they would replace alot of horses as pets, beautiful animal.

tbhorselover1 6 months ago
Damn ceased to shoot your mouth! This is a zebra, a zebra is a wild animal, it is not madeto be educated!
TheMelanie13013 6 months ago
I think it's cruel. You can see that Zorro hates the idea of being ridden. I hope the zebra kicks his head in when he's not wearing a helmet.

ich will auch ein zebra haben & reiten :D
Lauriluh02 6 months ago
Ummm...am sure it would be possible to tame zebras eventually, the horse was also once wild. But i believe the zebras back isnt strong enough to carry humans -and probably several other reasons the zebras isnt used by humans.
IndianDesi7ty 6 months ago
Hahaha the first Zebra to ever be 'tamed'? Right. Dream on.

@SouljaFag5 it's a sin really? do you even know what beastiality is
toot65 7 months ago
This video is so wrong! My zebras bite and kick "by nature" just as much as any horse I've ever owned. Not all zebras are mean at all, also like horses. You have to TRAIN and BREAK a zebra to ride it. JUST LIKE A HORSE. This was NOT the first time a zebra had been trained at all! Maybe where he lives...since have been trained FOR SURE since the 1980s. He has a mean zebra, well, I've had a mean horse. This video is WRONG and whatever idiot wrote it is either ignorant or very badly informed!
catstopzebra 7 months ago
@catstopzebra I love Zebras!! But Just so you understand, Zebras are wild so they will be mean...and this guy is an expert and probably knows more than you do about horses and zebras...even if you do know a lot about them.
xoxobigbirdxoxo 7 months ago
@xoxobigbirdxoxo You're right, I do understand that zebras are wild, and so are horses, cats, dogs, fish, lizards, snakes, and every other animal, which are also mean on an animal by animal basis. I consider myself an expert on zebras as much (or more) then the guy in the video, since I own 5 zebras and grew up on a horse farm. And besides, this person isn't a very good horse handler from the snippets I'm seeing.
catstopzebra 7 months ago
thts mean zebras should be free and not tamed but sayin tht i would give anything to ride zorro
077Cuddles 7 months ago
You know what? I people put that shit in my mouth I would probably put up a good fight as well. The kind of bit they use is some of the harshest and most painful there is, for a regular horse. And that's an animal that doesn't fight against it! Yanking and pulling they way he does is pretty much animal cruelty. No wonder the zebra is now "tame".
momijinohanako 7 months ago
I love this!!!! Zebras rock but idt u should ride them but this video is kool thumbs up..!!
Iluvmypets1999 7 months ago
Yep, cute and does prove zebras really aren't meant for riding.

i see a lot of people complaining about the bit, but it just looks like a liverpool driving bit, those are one of the nicest bits you can use on a horse, and any bit can rip up a horse's mouth in the wrong hands, even a hackamore
SkipShoGun 7 months ago
@SkipShoGun Driving the chariot, he's using a Liverpool. Riding, it looks like a Pelham. Both bits allow a good amount of on-the-spot adjustment. The key is always "good hands" of course. Some have them; some don't.
