Plasma blows LCD out of the water in dark rooms. I own a plasma and a 50 inch LCD. my panny plasma has superior black level performance over the LCD, but in my brighter living room the LCD has a edge. LCD is ok for most consumers, the sad part is LCD is bought and left on torch mode most likely. And the plasmas at the store look dimmer normally depending on the settings, go in Magnolia room though, and almost all are plasma, for a reason. Until i set one up, you wont understand
I like to game and i bought a Panasonic TCP50U2 and am wondering if i should be worried about the word "BURN-IN". I was told that word is in the past and that i dont have to really worry about it. So i would like to know the input of other PLASMA owners on weather or not i should really worry.
since 3 weeks i own a neopdp 42 inch and i have to say its an awesome TV. especially when i watch bluray i got an orgasme everytime. High end TV for low budget
I agree plasma is a much more accurate for color and contrast. The closest thing to a CRT in a flat panel. When I bought my panasonic the beginning of the year I had size and price factors to consider that were slightly lower. I bought the u1 model because i couldn't got any bigger then 42" and the s2 had not yet been released. Either way after I calibrated it I have absolutely no complaints and i have it set up where the reflection isn't an issue.
The G25 beats the VT25 hands down! First of all the VT25 in a 54 inch costs 3 grand and something dollars! The g25 costs 2 grand thats a good freaken deal people! The g25 has almost same features as VT25 it has skype and web cam chating as well as 12 bit colour and 600 HZ! G25 is pure amazing for the price plus 3D films are over rated and cost way too much money plus 3D glasses will be out dated years from now!
Possibly the Sony XBR Series, it's the only LED-LCD that has been compared to high end Plasma. Samsung might have a high end series like that(the 9000 series) but I havn't heard anything on it. The G20 we have is pretty damn nice, Easily the best TV in the house. But I give fair props to any TV. The kuro elite is good, still the best by a slim margin, but two TV's (both plasma) are right on it's tail. The Panasonic VT25, and the LG PK550(as reviewed by Chad B, renowed Calibra.)
This is how I know you have NO idea what you are talking about. YOU need to research what contrast is. NO SET gets over 8000:1 ANSI Contrast. the over inflated 8 million contrast ratio's and such are MARKETING HYPE. Look it up.
Also, CONTRAST DOES NOT JUST MEAN BLACKS. Plasma does not get as bright as LCD, so the OVERALL ANSI CONTRAST IS USUALLY HIGHER ON LED-LCD MODELS.
You are spreading FUD, about LCD's as well. I own both technologies
you're incorrect, your misconceptions about LCD are as bad as the plasma haters, many Plasma Owners have owned LCD, and Vice Versa.
And they are not better in every aspect, they make poor computer monitors, due to high contrast static images, Panasonic has admitted that their black levels rise, ending up higher than some high end LCD's.
LCD's are able to get much brighter, producing higher overall contrast ratios. LCD's are often also equipped with matte screen
@Feyhart No. You are wrong. wrong wrong wrong. I'm sorry...but...wrong. LCD is very poor quality compared to plasma. Now if you were speaking of LED, I would give in. But LCD is bottom of the bucket. Now scoot on back to 2006 with your LCD loving ass because you are just plain wrong...wrong...wrong...
@p0479 dream on, i know that ill get people "sticking up" for you as this video is for a plasma tv and the people who view it most likely prefer plasma, HOWEVER not all plasma tvs are better LOL if you think that.
The panasonic g15 and g20 has amazing picture quality yes but LCD is without a doubt more reliable.
Now if anyone is under 15 years old and reading this comment dont reply saying you have a LCD tv and it broke as that is 1 person but it is a fact that plasma's break more easy.
@p0479 thats not saying only 1 lcd has broke in the world (lol) im saying if you reply saying "i had an lcd and it broke in 30 seconds" then please do me a favour and bend over, lift your legs over your head and please remove the head that is sticking up your own arse.
p0479 i hope you dont reply like a life wasted youtube keybord talker and realise that i am not being disrespectful im only pointing out that your comment of lcd is junk is BS and you no nothing about tv's and neither do the
@p0479 In almost all aspects. Heat generation, power consumption and input lag. Heat isn't so much of an issue now with Panasonic's new line of plasmas but input lag (generally for games) are still a little behind but they're getting a lot better.
An LCD monitor/TV has several different types of panels as well, TN, VA and IPS. Generally you can compare IPS panels to plasmas in color accuracy and visual quality but they're generally expensive.
I have the Panasonic Viera txp-50C2E. In my opinion its a fantastic TV, especially for gaming. What is your opinion on this TV? do you think its a good TV?
Judder? I have a Panasonic 50" 800u and I don't see any judder or flickering.BTW...Samsung only has 800-900 lines of moving resolution.Panasonic has 1080 p moving resolution.
@judoyodan i believe the g25 supports network camera accesory for skype calls. also i found that most retail stores will sell one or the other and the price is usually the same. in short, the tv is identical in terms of panel and such. just get the cheaper one if you find a price difference.
i have always loved panasonic and when i saw the new vt20 in my store i was amazed by the picture quality and black levels.....but still, just like every plasma, they have a great judder that is really annoying.....the new samsung 8000 plasma is the only line of plasma that actually gets rid of that 3:2 pulldown judder.....its motion judder canceller is so smooth and when put side by side to the vt20 it proves it is a much better picture when it comes to motion.
Hi, thanks for the update on the tv's. Just a very naive question. When viewing this video on youtube I am aware of flicker on the sets shown. Is it just because the camera picks up this flicker as with computer monitors on tv etc. or am I one of the people prone to seeing it? I am still in CRT land and am trying to decide on what to upgrade to? Thanks.
I'm about to upgrade my tv. I thought about panasonic g25 plasma. I just want to know how the picture looks in sports like baseball basketball and hockey. And is the g series really deep like the 3d model. I don't believe 3d is going to be that big of a hit with me
plasma got better black's and white, more vivid colors, don't suffer from blur, burned image is not a problem anymore etc etc, so yea go plasma. I cannot find out what advantage lcd got, exept maybe electricity consomation but the gap is getting smaller and smaller, hum life spend, and you can have smaller screen.
Several companies do, including Panasonic and LG. Plasma produces better picture quality than LCD, so it's a good job they are still being made. They will continue to be made going forward.
panasonic will still be on the market regardless weather plasma goes bust or not, i guarantee they'll most probably make a better lcd led tv one of these days, the amount the cram and perfect into there set's still stuns me, picture quality on plasma is so much better than any form of lcd
and as far as image retention and other problems go, its almost a thing of the past
you have no idea what you are talking about.. the v20 will use exactly the same display as the G25.. but with 3D capability.. do your research
you seem to talk about the G20 and G25 as if this were the same... G25 is a great upgrade of the G20.. better contrast, better color, better everything
and finally just if you didnt know.. the same engineers that made the pioneer kuro were working with the new g25 model... so we now know what you expect
You're the one that don't seem to know. The V20 won't have 3D, that's the VT20 (VT25 in America).
The G20 and G25 are essentially the same TV, except the G25 will be slimmer, just how the G15 was slimmer than the G10.
And read the reviews, the difference between the G10 and G20 is not that big. Basically the same thing, with a better anti-reflective screen (2, instead of 3, layers of glass), and a few more features, and better contrast during daytime.
I never said the V20 would look better, however, it will have 24p@96hz and the advanced picture controls that are not present in the American version (European version has advanced picture controls starting from S20). And I think it will have PIP too.
While not much, I do appreciate those extra features. But I'm not paying too much over $2k for it, as that's beyond my budget.
According to some, it should come out around June. V20 is not confirmed for US, only for EU.
well anyway.. yeah maybe it doesn't have the calibration function but i don't know honestly i never calibrate a tv before. i like to calibrate my ips-h dell monitor.. but i dont know about tv's... i just use the thx mode and believe it that looks enough well for me..
btw what is the 24p@96gz? function? sound like it have something to do with the response.. if that is the case.. i believe that is placebo for the eyes.. our eyes are really not that great did you know that?
as i was saying our eyes are not really that great.. actually did you know that you cant notice the difference between 720p and 1080p in small screens just in large screens?.. also plasma is already to fast.. if that function is to have it even faster i bet you that you will not notice the difference.. i play ps3 games and watch bluray movies in my g25 with no problem at all..

I hope the V20 doesn't take long to come out, and it's not too expensive.
I saw a video of a G25, and it doesn't have the Pro Calibration settings that the European version has. So I get screwed.
And as the G20/G25 doesn't have 24p mode either, it kinda makes the V20 a very logical choice.
I just hate how this Tvs don't have P-I-P, like Come on! It's 2010 already!
Despite my disappointment with a S1 plasma (2009), I want to give Panasonic another try. Samsung sounds scary, but no alternative.
