I bought Phil's CD "Kakadu Sunrise" back in the mid nineties, which has this song (track 12). Also from the same album, Track 1, Take Off, was used in a TV commercial (featuring Phil) for a musical instrument shop in Toowoomba.
@bonglehaddock you think 2 is bad? they have a sister called virginia and another brother called Chris. Chris plays drums & Virginia sings and plays other instruments, they're all very very talented
I saw them do this live in Houston this past weekend. I am still speechless several days later, just amazing. And the best part; they hung out and mingled after the show. Nicest guys you'd ever meet!
Phil is like a mad scientist's cross between Eddie Van Halen, Mick Jagger and a Muppet. Am I wrong? It's just funny, I think. Fantabulous players. ; )
I just saw these two play this duet last week, 10 years since this clip was made.
I disagree that Phil is the superior lead player after having seen them twice playing together. For me, Tommy plays with the most clarity, articulation and character of any guitarist I've seen...his playing cuts through much more to my ears. Phil isn't superior in the skill stakes either, but Phil is a superb musician in his own right, and they play with great synchroicity as you 'd expect after 50 years.
We all know TE is absolutely amazing but, PHIL has to be seen to be believed - he's Incredible, and his daughter Jessie has an amazingly strong voice for her tender age of just 21.
Im watching this over and over, and I cant for the life of me hear the misstake that Phil makes at 0.44. And yet, Tommy reacts to it instantly and Phil grimaces. So I know it is there. Well, I guess my carrer as a critic will remain a dream.
@wickeddigital Also just got back from Lyric Theatre. The Stalls, row P, seat 56. :) Phills Nessun Dorma was great. But the best part are still the two brothers with two acustic guitarrs. Gona see Tommy in Sweden in the spring next.
@TheDudeFrom0Z No I dont think Phil was lazy but he did like a bit too much of the Scottish liquid otherwise he would have been as famous as his brother. Phil was probably a better electric player whereas Tommy always preferred acoustic

well obviously Phil is NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS Tommy...jeeze what a clown...oh wait....never mind he is unbelievably good too....wow, wow wow wow to people blessed with the same talent...*hi five*
I think Tommy has made it pretty clear he's among the top guitarists ever to pick up an axe. He doesn't need to play lead every time (Not saying Phil does, just pointing out the greatness of Ole TE). I thoroughly enjoy listening to Tommy play rhythm as much as I love his Guitar Boogie/Stevie's Blues vid, wherein he schools me and everyone else on what a guitarist has to strive for. All in all, he does it because he can. So says someone who may be full of it.
@aceyeah my guess would be that they used to play so when they were small, and things like that hang on forever.. it's like special positions at the dinnertable (:
Wow I take Tommy Emmanuel as a totally classic one and the best of the best, but his brother is also more than good, what a technique! This is indeed a difficult piece to play
such a great job its got to be, travelling the world with your brother, having fun and musical conversation in front of an audience and getting money for doing it!

what was in there guitars, it looked like something was covering up the bowl or whatever the name for that part of the guitar is, but that hole was covered up...right
yes this is called sound hole cover .this thing make feedback disappear!
