Grand Mufti was of Bosnian descent. In1776, the Bosnian Mamluk Ahmad al-Jazzar gained the regional power and governed Sidon and Damascus until 1804. In 1799 his troops defended Acre against an attack by Napoleon’s French forces. At that time Jerusalem was the largest city south of Acre, but it still had less than 10,000 people. Sulaiman Pasha al-Adil had been in Jazzar’s household, and he governed 1805-19. His successor Abdallah Pasha ruled until 1832 and fought the rural clans.

in 1920 mufti haj amin husseini was pardon by sir Herbert Samuel. By rigged an election from governer of jerusalem sir Ronald Storrs he was appointed as a jerusalem's mufti. He was a brititdh agent from 1920-1936 until he turns and joined hittler in fight against isreal but at the end of war II he scape to france for about 2 years later not only he was a free man he became british agent and he was given post in villa aida as mufti house also in arab news agency in Cairo Egypt

The Palestinians declared war at 48 because they did not want to share the land with the Jews like the UN planned. They wanted to get it all. During the war the Palestinian leaders urged their people to temporarily leave their homes so it will be easier for the Arab armies to fight the Jews. It just happened that all of the Arabs got their ass handed to them and they lost. Israel never wanted the land,it became under Israeli control by the circumstance.
