Michelle Gilliam saw the Journeymen performing and fell in love with John Phillips, who

was still married to his first wife. He left her and married Michelle when she became 18 years old. He formed the NEW Journeymen with her and Denny Doherty with whom she started and affair. That's why they divorced which also caused the splitting of the Mama's and the Papa's. Who knows that if Scott joined the M. and the P. the group would not have split so soon, after 2,5 years of making beautiful music.

I was at the Padded Cell, a Minneapolis eatery, when the Journeymen recorded a live album in the spring of 1962. Hard to imagine it was almost 50 years ago...

They were so damned good.

MikeH0714 - do did a great job of engineering the tape and video together. I wondered why the audio was so good and the video iffy. Once again, Scott, sings like an angel.

@newmexican: the video source (a VHS tape obtained in trade about a dozen years ago) had to be at least 5 generations away from the original... probably more.  I'd LOVE to find clean, clear copies of all the "Hootenanny" shows.

@newmexican Funnily enough, the only other tenor singer of Scott's era that could even remotely approach Scott's greatness was a handsome Canadian singer named Denny Doherty. (And even then, I think Scott was actually better.)
