  • Peter Tomarken should NEVER have passed away! He would have loved this! And WHAT IS WITH THE RISQUE QUESTIONS?

  • @Angie2343 Because it's Ricki Lake.

  • Anyone notice the bobble in the intro when she went to the wrong side of the podium? Camera shot to her as she corrected herself. Still, I agree it's the best moment of the series. PYL didn't last more than two seasons on GSN as well; it'd be nice to see it return to the networks.

  • For a replica of the classic P.Y.L. board, I think this is one of the best moments of that Gameshow Marathon series that Ricki Lake hosted.

It goes to show that Ricki Lake can also host P.Y.L. if she wanted to.

  • I remember seeing this for the first time, and I was so happy to see my favorite game show come back for one night.

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I was addicted to this show as a young child, and I know I'm not the only one who misses it. Seeing the old set roll out like that is one of those nice goosebumps moments!

  • You are not the only one.

Sadly, it is not the original set, but a damn good replica.

Gameshow Marathon may have, as a whole, been medicore at best, but I can honestly say seeing this episode brought a tear to my eye.

  • Can someone find the rest of this (The PYL of Gameshow Marathon)?

  • lol wudnt it be funny if the network crew cud change that one sqaure to a whammy

  • If the classic version of Press Your Luck comes back to CBS, I hope that Ricky Lake hosts it. Because Peter cannot, because of his plane crash and death back in 2006. Todd Newton and the new P.Y.L.; Whammy! isn't as exciting.

  • I would totally love to hear "STOP AT ONE MILLION DOLLARS AND A SPIN!" :)

  • I want you to tell me if my Match Game memory is correct based on celebrities but there is a catch to this game, only one celebrity sat in the same chair on the Gene Rayburn version of Match Game.

  • Far as I can remember, Betty White sat on the right side of the bottom tier, just as she did during the show's run.

  • As far as I can remember, George Foreman is in the chair occupied by Scoey Mitchell, Kathy Griffin is in the chair occupied by Brett Somers, Bruce Vilanch is in the chair occupied by Charles Nelson Reilly, Adrienne Curry is in the chair occupied by Jo Ann Fluge, Adam Carolla is in the chair occupied by Richard Dawson and Betty White had her own chair as you said. That's your one catch to this game

  • They should totally consider making a "GS Marathon" season 2. Where else in primetime do you see old game shows revived? If CBS rejects it, ABC should air it.

  • we need another game show marathon with Tood newton or Drew Carrey as the host.

  • Let's see if my Match Game memory is correct with a catch. (let's see if you can spot it) George Foreman is in the chair occupied by Scoey Mitchell, Kathy Griffin is in the chair occupied by Brett Somers, Bruce Vilanch is in the chair occupied by Charles Nelson Reilly, Adrienne Curry is in the chair occupied by Jo Ann Fluge, Adam Carolla is in the chair occupied by Richard Dawson and Betty White had her own chair.

  • wow.....Ricky Lake....lol

  • Come on someone please post the rest of Press Your Luck on Game Show Marathon

  • I remember Peter Tomarken from the year I was born to the year he died which makes 18 years.

  • Peter IS PYL Rod was the best Announcer bar none... Without them it's not the same...(Bursts into tears)

  • Amen, tomarkenfan83!

  • Ill have to agree with you, its like the "magic" is gone

  • If anyone wants Press Your Luck back on CBS on Saturday Mornings write or e-mail CBS dot com and put pressure on the network to revive it.

  • MrBennetzen who do you think should host old Press your luck if you want CBS to Revive it for Fridays Primetime or weekend Mornings? Im guessing Drew Carey Should be considered.

  • I really think Press Your Luck could succeed if it were brought back and the cash amounts pumped up. Imagine a person about to win over $100,000 (or $1,000,000) hitting a whammy!

  • Press Your Luck was brought back... it's called "Whammy! The All New Press Your Luck" and it airs on Game Show Network.

  • yes, MrBennetzen! Why not?

  • Press Your Luck Primetime (CBS) On Friday Or Tuesday Could Really Do Good (with a top prize on board in 1 $5,000 in 2 $20,000)

  • Could Press Your Luck on Saturday Mornings give "Hannah Montana" a run for its money?

  • Anything could give that a run for it's money.

  • I think if Peter were still alive they would have brought this back and Rich announce. They do look soooo alike.

  • This was the best game of PYL ever played showing that the original version could still be a hit

  • Was Press Your Luck 2006 filmed in the same studio's where the original 1983 PYL was filmed or was it where Todd Newtons version of GSN PYL was filmed? I noticed the studio looks different from the old pyl

  • my guess is neither. all of the game show marathon episodes were shot on the same soundstage at CBS television city. even the price is right set pieces and games were moved over from the bob barker studio. the big board and contestant dais were rebuilt from scratch...and hopefully NOT immediately destroyed.

  • I hope someone saved the rest of this episode, if so, please post or else this will be forever incomplete

  • I loved this show!

  • Yeah, come on. Put the whole episode up!!!!

  • RIP Peter Tomarken. (1942-2006)

  • AMEN!

  • Put the whole damn episode together!

  • If they were to bring the classic version of Press Your Luck back, I think that Ricki Lake could be the new game show host for Press Your Luck. It sure would be a whole lot better then Whammy!: The All-New Press Your Luck with Tod Newton on G.S.N.

    Rest in Peace, Peter Tomarkin.

  • ITS TOMARKEN. if you want to live a tribute, at least get his name right. You suck.

  • Personally it would've been nicer to not only have someone less nauseating than ex-talk bitch Ricki hosting this when it ran...but also use "normal" people as contestants not a bunch of dipshit celebrities who are already rich. And RIP Peter.

  • Where was Drew Carey at why was not he offered the Job to do Press Your Luck? was he still working for ABC at the time of filming of Gameshow Marathon

  • Don't know if the Drewster was still with ABC when GS marathon filmed a couple years ago but heck I'd have even preferred Tood Newton who did "Whammy!" on GSN, over Ricki Lake. For that matter, even Ahmad Rashad or Richard Karn would've been somewhat palatable in comparison to "Sicki"...

  • I love this gameshow. I wish I could be on it... :)

  • This was very fun and exciting to watch. I watched this last summer ( '06 ) when it was on. The whole series of "Gameshow Marathon."

  • What is press your luck? Can somenbody explain? I am from Germany and I don´t know this show...

  • Press Your Luck is a game show with virtually no limit to how much money you can win. This is from a Game Show Marathon segment.

  • These condemned prejudices! A large majority in Germany hates Adolf Hittler. To this humans also I belong. And I find it an insolence that people maintain as you, belive that all German would be Nazis.

  • Sorry dot0dot0dot -- My very young son, who doesn't understand such things and is certainly not taught them at home, got on and made the comment re: Hitler about whom he is just learning. He's in big time trouble, I can assure you. Our apologies. We do know better.

  • Yeah sorry again.

  • Actually I would have to excuse me. I could not know that you are still so young. Many greetings dot0dot0dot

  • I've heard there's a German version called "Druck Dein Gluck," only with a shark.

  • You are correct...there's actually been a few German adaptations of American game shows besides that one:

    - Der Preis is heiß (TPiR, though it actually translates to "The Price is Hot")

    - Bube Dame Horig (Card Sharks)

    - Tick-Tack-Quiz (TTD, ran from 58-67, later revived simply as Tic-Tac-Toe in 92)

    - Hätten Sie's gewusst? (Twenty-One, which ran from 58-69[!], and had a revival called Einundzwanzig from 00-02)

    - Was Bin Ich? (What's My Line?)

    ...and I'm sure there's others.

  • Peter and Rod died so thats why this show was dedicated to Peter Tomarken!

  • This logo here is God-awful. It's off, the letters are misshapen...but then again, I'm looking too hard. :\

  • I think you have that confused with Ricki Lake. ;)

Seriously, whoever made the decision to put her in charge was a moron.

I hope they redo Gameshow Marathon someday only with a better host.

  • I would like them to redo the marathon with a REAL Game show host. Not a host of a type of show that replaced game shows on the daytime schedule.

Any game show host would do -- even if that means the monotone Ben Stein

  • ANY host but Ben Stein and Anne Robinson

  • Please post the rest of this episode.

  • yes, I agree. Please, post the rest of this version of 'Press Your Luck'.

  • Fuck you, Kathy...

  • you could have added the clip montage of Peter and Michael Larson... He and Rodd Roddy are so missed! (sob)

  • AAwesome, are you going to be posting the rest of the episode? RIP Peter

  • Ricki Lake hosting Press Your Luck is just wrong. Peter Tomarkin and Rod Roddy are probably turning in their graves.

  • I thought he did a good job hosting WHAMMY, so he might be able to handle the original.

I also heard he is hosting the PYL DVD game too, so who knows.

  • What do you mean DVD game?

  • Never mind "What do you mean".

  • Do you think Todd Newton would be better for Press Your Luck?

  • Even Todd Newton admits that he is not better than Tomarken

  • I think Mark L. Walberg could have been a better host for Press Your Luck.

  • And it never will be.

    RIP Peter and Rod.

  • Well not everything can be perfect.

  • everything about this was perfect except for having ricki lake as the host of all these game shows. but hey nothing can be completly perfect

  • I'd let this go on a VCR 'til 9:05 P.M. when "Jeopardy!" would start at 10:00 P.M. due to a basketball game.

  • I know. I actually wept seeing this episode.

  • Original Set, Original Whammies, I LOVED IT!

  • Not really. The screens don't fade in and out like they did on the original.
