I took this guys advice...after doing my punches in sequence like this guy said I started moving the bag alot more not pushing but snapping the punches in with penetration...it makes the world difference
THIS VIDEO IS AN OPINION ON A HOOK and a flawed one at that frankly its impossible to be in violation of 'differentiated rotation' whatever that means, because boxing is a sport of functional movements nothing segmented about it and way to chickenwing coach man you should work out our gym! Dont listen to this guy unless you like eating body shots. Hes teaching you his hook instead of a great fighters passed down hook. Hows his pro career? Mayweathers lefthook.
@LeungTingWT name 1 fighter? I just said in my last post floyd and pac started the same or almost the same weight which was about 106lbs and he was only 16 years old them lols. What is the problem of a fully grown ass man walking around at 140-147lbs when he is not on training? Man most fighters balloon up even 20lbs or more when they are not training for a fight BUT pac has always walked around 140-147lbs even if he is not training for a fight LOL...
@nightblazer. Fuck you and u dont kno me. Like I said the way this motherfucker threw the hook was wrong. And im a fighter you cant tell me shit. Im trained by an olympic gold medalist
@mslashea yea you're right..i boxed in england south africa and australia, and this guy didn't learn hooking in a boxing gym,the small guy has got no whip to his hook either, pivot your left foot sure but you gotta whip your punches in
i think there is a difference between heavy handed cluby power like George Foreman or Rocky Marciano (or Carl Froch) and snappy speed power like Manny Pacquiao and its genetic. Gerry Cooney once told me "we don't move like they do but we can hit hard so you make them think twice about stepping in" he had no snap or handspeed but had the hardest left hook Larry Holmes ever felt.
these are some good tips, ill apply this more often...and whoever saying this guys a clowns an idiot...hes just trying to help people who are new to boxing
@joeclemm his calves explain his foot movement.. i stand by my statement. Manny's flaw is hooks. That's why you never see him throw them in combos.. he always, always throws straight shots in combos. You can't use power from the hips and feet when your throwing and charging at your opponent at the same time. Look at his wings.. that explains it all... all his back muscles are huge... another perfect example, berto.. look t his legs... skinny yet he still has power. Why? Same reason as pac.
More of these how to Videos Eli, that was very helpful! appreciate your time and dedication to getting these videos up for us! your videos are more entertaining to watch than HBO
hes right about everything except the part where he rises up before he drops the hook down, You sit down into all your punches and never rise when you twist. (Except uppercuts)
Also he should emphasize that you start off with your weight on the front foot when youre throwing the hook (lead hand hook) and you throw the weight to your back foot after you drop hook down.
Everyone should watch how Ortiz throws his right hook. near perfect form. and thats coming from a floyd fan. but i know my shit
damn if only i knew that in my previous fights.....that can be an easy ko instead of wasting all my energy throwing punches. learn something new every day :)
Pacquiao's power DOES NOT come from the hips. His speed and power comes from the shoulder muscles(deltoids) and his wing muscles(Latissimus dorsi). Only time pac uses his hips is when he throws his hooks and even then, they come out slow. Pac's best punches are the straight right and left hands... fuck the hook!! All you need is them straight shots and it's a wrap for your opponent!!!
@mackinass916 His thighs and hips have a lot to do with the power he generates in any punch... look at how he throws that cross left for example HE STEPS INTO IT and while his body is moving forward he throws the punch creating greater effort, power, momentum and more importantly a more devastating shot! All in the sweet science
Youre wrong bro power from punches ALWAYS...ALWAYS comes from the HIPS and TECHNIQUE. a smaller percentage comes from the upper body. abs shoulders back etc all help butthe main source starts at the calves then to the hips....and if you seen manny's calves you can understand why he hits with so much pop. he also gets full extension when he punches. He never "pushes" with his punches and of course like all the great ones, he turns the punches over
@LeungTingWT He needs to take the test because he gained lots of muscle? HAHAHAHAHA this is some horse sh1t, so may didn't gain anything from starting at 106 himself? Get real dude! Manny used to cut down so much to make weight 4-5 years ago fighting marquez and them, but when he is not cutting down he has always walked around 144-147lbs LMFAO!!!
@fds4eva everyone who believe that pacquiao is using steroids are idiots for believing floyd. they'll realize it sooner or later.
they rather believe someone who is clearly a liar, hate their dad, beats up woman, always trash talking and very cocky. than someone who is honest, cares for people, never say bad things about the person who hates him, and is very humble.
its like asking them... who would you rather believe jesus or satan. and they pick satan. LOL.
Both him and Floyd need to take the real test not the "Olympic Style testing" thats easy to cheat..... Use the testing that they use in the Amateurs....
@SkywarpMach7 o yeah.. thats cool. but i dont think floyd really cares about the test... hes just using it to either avoid the fight or get into manny's head. its a trick that manipulators do. you can even do it to girls. go up to one and have them do something simple. like pass the salt. hand over a magazine. just make them do something that theyll agree. and once they get use to doing that. you got em.
@fiendin281 yeah. but for some people it isn't. i'm an animator. and the first time i animated someone punching it look very weird. its because i was moving all the body parts at the same time. as a result, there was no snap in it. then i thought about what bruce lee said... legs, hips, torso, and then arms. tried it out and the punch looked more powerful.
kinda what bruce lee was saying a long time ago. use your legs and your hips. but this guy went into more detail scientifically. yeah this dude is an expert at what he does. great video ellie.
@BLaCkKsHeEp lol.... yeah Donaire.... that dude have one of the best left hook in the business. there's a video in youtube somewhere explaining how he throws it. he does the same exact thing. except he said there's a point where he just tightens up his arm and just throw his entire weight in the direction his body is rotating. maybe that's the reason why he kinda jumps a little when hes throwing it.
yeah that's i throw my left hook, i put an extra push on my hip rotation. i got a pretty mean left hook too, but i like to throw it to the body instead of the head
@mslashea u cant just say its wrong. he is just trying to show you how. besides he has no target in this video. if u want, however, u can volunteer yourself as a dummy.
If he missis the hook he can get countered ny a right hand. Bring the hook up a lil so that your arm goes across your chin usin your arm somewhat as a shield
Exactly the same theory taught in Kung Fu, TKD, MT etc. It doesn't happen all at the same time.
