Hi! Your tutorials are wonderful and many of them learned. But I found a couple of errors in the "boolean" settings.
I used Blender in version 2.48a , 2.49b and 2.5 and none of them presented the settings that you did not work. By attempt and error came to the conclusion that:
union -> difference (in Cup object)
difference -> intersect (in Glow object)
I wonder how it works on the presented tutorial. :D
I started with a single vertex, switched to side view and extruded it multiple times, so that it looks like the half contour of a cup. Then I placed the 3D cursor in the middle, switched to top view and used the 'spin' tool. At last I used 'remove doubles' to merge the vertices in the middle.
But you can use any object you want. It doesn't have to be a cup.
Ok try the following: select the cube, switch into edit mode with tab, select everything with a, press w and choose flip normals... then try again the three options.
I had a problem, for some reason when i toggled off the renderability of the cube it still rendered, we have the same version of blender so i can't explain it. could you help me out?
Is there a way to make armature disintegrate along with the mesh of my character?

Interesting Video.
Blender 2.57 2011
You annotated the boolean operations may not be the same.
I did not see remember that annotation apparently.
I used
boolean intersection for the present visible big cube .... and
boolean intersection for the glow cube.
Did Blender have a boolean ui presentation defect at the time you made the video?

@videofountain Nope. I had reverserd surface normals on the cup.

i think its something to do with the modifiers but the cube seems to be the same ob
ject as the cup and has same texture and is not shown on the outliner

Your tutorials are probably the best vealing with advanced things in blender.

@NionsChannel i belive he meant the teleporter

@NionsChannel I think he meant the teleportation pad, not the plane :)

recalculating the normals worked. Thanks!

I'm having a trouble with the boolean modifier added to the glow object. None of the options get just the top of the cup like it should.
btwede10 2 years ago
None? That's strange! At least one should work.
Ok try the following: select the cube, switch into edit mode with tab, select everything with a, press w and choose flip normals... then try again the three options.
NionsChannel 2 years ago
Wait. Forget what i said. I really think that at least one option should work. I guess not all normals are wrong... just a few of them.
Try this: select the cup (the cube shouldn't be the problem), switch into edit mode and press ctrl+n to recalculate the outside

A question: Where does the sky button stand which you mention on 4:46 . Already thanks and your a pro with blender.

go to scene (F10) and then to render layers.

Excellent. Anybody gives this less than 5 stars is because they're brain dead and can't follow.

curtisd85 2 years ago
That is really strange. Alternatively, you could move that cube to a Layer, which isn't rendered.
