The dragon in the ad is not, and has never been real. The shots at 1:09 and 1:16 are complete bull. I dont know if its CGI or not, but it is DEFINETELY not the one used in the show.
The one used in the show is head on a stick with smoke. and wings.
this was a scale model dragon. it was built and put in front of a green screan, then the scale dragon shots were later pasted onto the life footage.
the new dragon is much better, it accually has a body, and the flame that it "breaths" isint made of coffee creamer, its an isopar flame. but there are mechanical issues with it, so it hasint been premiered in the new Summer Nightastic. and no the head did not fall off.

A forty five foot fire spiting Dragon,before any other Dragon in any other Disney park there was Me. I totally remember that night!! I was in the original cast of Fantasmic! in 1992 and we were rehearsing on the stage when the helicopter came flying in unexpectedly.
!."Copter cam day one" 03.17.1992 was shot at night in the park as a small modle copter with a camera flew thought the park to make this first Commercial. p.s. see time code at bottom. This is the first Fantasmic show before there was any other Fantasmic shows in any other of the Disney Parks.
