  • very nice, a water pump not driven by the timing belt (I'm looking at you, ford zetec 2 L)

  • Thanks a lot I was in a real pinch and this video was perfect for getting me through it!

    Thumbs up!!

  • Well changed the pump two days ago. I was scarred about breaking a bolt. I wouldn't know how to remove it because no space for drill in some areas.

I was able to remove pump and pulley without dropping motor mount. Did it in 4 to 5 mins. That was the best part of the job.

I replaced pump because i noticed wobbling pulley on the pump. Hoping replacement would remove the chirping sound that goes away after 5 mins. Now the chirping is worse and constantly making making sound.

  • @scooter12368 Sorry the noise is still there, you could try flipping the belt around so the outside edge would then be on the inside.

  • You put the jack underneath front motor mount. I have one under under the frame pretty close to be under the radiator. Is that the location ok?

    Where did you place yours??

  • @scooter12368 Jacking up the engine? the oil pan should be ok. To jack up the car, behind the front tires there may be jack pads you can use. Or the pinch weld that runs along both sides of the van. HTH.

  • I will be doing my 06 caravan.. i noticed the motor mount bracket halves did not align with the holes. How will you get them to shift over in order for them to mate??

Is there something that you do to the pumps 5 bots to ensure they come off without breaking them??? i would be lost if they did

  • Help. Seems my water pump is making all kinds of noise but not leaking.

I've replaced the power steering pump aaready. Any help is apreciated.

  • @PackedFunk Well the only help I can really give is what is in the videos that I post here. If you take the belt off and grab the water pump pulley with you hands and it wiggles or feels rough when you turn it, then you need to replace it.

  • Ever heard of a pump making noise but not leaking?

  • I wish I had seen this video before replacing my water pump in my 2003 Crapavan last winter. I did it outside in 30 degree weather. I somehow managed to change it without loosening the engine mount bolts, which never occurred to me. It only took 6 hours.

  • Thanks! Great help, and especially showing the engine mount bolts!

  • It is a good possibility that it is the water pump. If if consistently leaks after sitting, someone should be able to find the leak. I don't know how dirty you want to get but. If you run the car for a while, then shut it off and wait for it to leak, if you turn the steering wheel to the right, remove the splash shield that blocks your view and get under the vehicle, you should be able to see where it is leaking from or see a trail of fluid. Running out of space here, good luck.

  • I have a question, My dodge grand caravan 2000 has water leak right under the vain belt and make a noise. Is it the water pump? When I drive and my car warm pretty good, the water stop leaking, then after I park and wait about 2-3 hours, the water start leaking again. I went to the auto shop they said about the noise because the vain belt and the water leak either radiator (I changed radiator last year) or water pump. Do you know what is the problem?

  • Unbolting the engine mount is imo an unecessary step. I little nudge with a pry bar is enuf to clear both the removal and re install of the pump. Access to the pump bolts with a 10mm combo wrench required manipulation of the pump pulley. Great video btw...i appreciate you guys that take the time to help other people out.

  • @spoolin100 Great tip on the pry bar! Broke the old one getting it out, but got the wife to pull on the pry bar as I barely squeezed the new one in place!

  • Thanx for the info.It was a great help.

  • I unbolted the upper and lower engine mounts to replace water pump

  • pretty much the only way to get it is to drop the engine down cause they put the frame rail right there so its nearly impossible to get a wrench in there

  • @pivotboy63 I saw another replacement video on here and they unbolted the pulley, but left it on and moved it around to unbolt the pump and took them off together; went back on the same way.

  • Thanks for posting.

  • Someone wrote about wet carpet on the passenger side. My test for water or antifreeze is to taste it. NO don't drink it or swallow it, but getting your finger wet in the carpet and then tasting it and you will know if it is water or antifreeze!!

  • is the same on 2001 3.8L engine
